This was two years ago. Both trees are healthy and one tree already produced its first apple.
Description of Work: We bought two different types of apple trees at the nursury and then planted them ourselves.

At first it appeared everything was spectacular, it looked wonderful, the design appeared great. Then the problems started to happen. We had buffalo grass plugs turning brown and we were told we were over watering. Then we were told we were underwatering. We were using the schedule they provided to the letter and checking moisture by feeling the dirt down to the depth of the root system. At first Sarah was very responsive, but when she figured out that there were real problems which I was not going to drop, her final gesture was to drop off a bag of buffalo grass seed and tell us just throw on the surface of the soil when the monsoons begin, don't rake them in, well anyone could take a look at my yard and know they were just going to wash away. A simple 15 minute Google search on Buffalo Grass showed that studies from the University of Nebraska and Denver showed that the plugs do go dormant 2-4 weeks after planting, which Sarah vehemently denied. They never bothered to see if the soil was appropriate for this native grass, we are on clay, which is absolutely inappropriate for this type of grass. The border they cemented in on a downward slope now creates a lake every time we have a moderate to heavy rainfall, so it drowns the grass completely in that area, so now I either need to call someone in to put a drain that goes under the barrier or break out some of the bricks. We chose them because of their supposed expertise in low water native plants and now we will be having Vista Landscaping redoing 60% of the backyard. We recently had the home appraised and the appraiser wouldn't believe that the bushes, trees and grass were professionally done. I guess that says it all. I am positive that their response will be I didn't take enough care of it, but I have all the correspondence asking if the care they were getting was correct, along with photos.

The supervisor came to survey the amount of work and left Uriel to his work. Very easy to communicate with both. Uriel was careful and diligent and worked steadily for 3.5 hours. Though this was my first time hiring Native Plant and Seed, they invoiced me and didn't ask for payment/credit before commencing work. Good local business that respected my property, modest though it is. I plan to be a regular.
Description of Work: Yard Clean-up. Since we had a dry, warmish spell and the snow had melted, I needed accumulated leaves from November gathered and removed. They also cut back crazy holly bush, trimmed away suckers on poplars, removed dead bush, and advised against trimming three other trees/bushes until May.

Professional work with quality materials, attention to detail and follow up are not cheap. We are a valued subcontractor by numerous general contractors in Northern Arizona. Those relationships originally developed with contracts awarded through the competitive bid process. We choose to do quality work. We have learned that general contractors seeking the lowest bottom line are not the best work partners for the subcontractor or the wisest investment for the consumer. You do get what you pay for.

They know what they are doing. They keep a natural landscape within the environmental constraints of the community. They come when you call and they do a neat job. You don't have to call them back to have them dig something up. They are very clean.
Description of Work: We have been using them for five years. They come every year. In the fall they turn off the water. They will come back to turn the water back on and do a yard maintenance checkup. They did all of our landscaping.

We bought several plants and bushes in May/June 2011. They have a large selection and all the plants were gorgeously healthy. We were new to the area so we had lots of questions about growing things at high altitude. They were very helpful, then let us wander around as long as we liked. They did not push us towards larger/more expensive plants. After their discussions and recommendations, we chose plants that have worked perfectly for our yard. They helped us load our car which was great because some of the bushes were heavy! I think they're a little expensive, but the beautiful plants are worth it. Everything we bought has grown and remained healthy.
Description of Work: Flagstaff Native Plant & Seed 400 East Butler Ave Flagstaff, AZ 86001 This company sells plants/bushes/trees that are native to the area and grow here easily. They offer landscaping services, but we only bought plants from their nursery.

Response from Native Plant & Seed
We are very concerned about the quality of the plants we carry and have a clear understanding of our standards with our wholesale suppliers. For these standards we pay more. Many wholesale growers are selling plants that may look beautiful but have a short "shelf life" due to the pruning, potting media, or fertilization practices of the grower. We have been in business twenty years now. Protecting our customers from beautiful but inherently weak plant stock costs a little more but has earned us a devoted customer base.

I had a landscaper plant my trees last Spring three huge 10 foot Colorado Blue Spruce. One tree which was stressed due to the workers not being supervised properly and not having the right equipment died. I called Natural Plant and Seed this April and they chose a tree for me, I paid to have it planted by them and they replaced the tree with no questions asked and had a worker come right over and plant it. I did not choose the tree, the company did and she chose a beautiful tree for me and it looks wonderful in my back yard. They were very professional and responsive to my request.
Description of Work: Tree selection and tree planting. I had lost a tree last May and the chose a tree for me which was beautiful. They planted for me right away and it looks wonderful!
