After speaking with 11 granite fabricators from a list given to me by Arizona Tile, I hired Granite Tech (Gary and Julie Jensen) to replace vanity tops in the master and guest bathrooms, install small soap shelves in the two showers, install a granite threshold on one shower, and install granite in one window sill. I purchased the granite slab from Arizona Tile, who pointed out to me a section of the slab had been evaluated as not usable due to multiple crack lines, and told me that damaged section needed to be cut off and discarded. However, there was still plenty of usable granite to complete my bathrooms according to the measurement information provided to me by Granite Tech. Granite Tech picked up my granite slab from Arizona Tile, and I told Julie that the slab had damage to one section that could not be used for the job. I spoke with them multiple times on the phone and visited their shop in Chino Valley twice. We even talked about a section of the slab that had a pinkish color that was not my favorite, and I told Julie I wished the pink color could be avoided when they cut out the vanity tops, but I knew it would probably be impossible since the slab would be smaller after the damaged section was removed. Julie replied that she thought they would still have room to cut the vanity tops and avoid most of the pink color because the slab was big enough. Great, if it can really be done! The granite for the vanity tops and window sill was installed on 3-27-2015, but Julie told me the shower shelves and threshold could not be installed that day because I just had both showers tiled and my tile installer made the shelf openings and threshold differently from what they discussed. She said they would take new measurements, cut those pieces to the correct size, and would be back the next business day, March 30th, to install them. Immediately after they left that day, I found two big problems. First, even though I supplied the specs and installation drawings of the new sinks, one sink was installed backwards. Second, the granite vanity top in the master bath had a significant crack in it and I saw that they had used the damaged section of granite for the master bath vanity top instead of discarding it. I planned to talk with them about those 2 problems when they came the next business day, because that work was not acceptable. However, Gary and Julie did not come to my house to finish the job on March 30th. I made numerous phone calls in the weeks and months that followed to have them come back and finish the job. I received no response to most of my phone calls. But they did call me a couple of times during that five month period to tell me that they lost their granite installer and had to hire another. I felt bad for them, so I gave them more time, but two months later they still had not made any effort to finish my job. Another time I was told that they were very behind in their jobs due to the time they lost hiring a new granite installer. So I gave them more time. After another 2 months I was told that they had their computer hacked and they lost my phone number. Julie told me that they even came over to my house, but I was not at home. (I wonder why they didn't leave a note if they came all the way over to my house in Prescott Valley.) Finally, exactly 5 MONTHS after the original installation, they came back to finish the job. On August 27th, when Gary and Julie came to my house to complete the job, Julie told me that I could expect shower water to get into the walls around the shelves they were installing!!! I was shocked because I just paid thousands of dollars for the granite and tile work, and I certainly didn?t want water to get into the walls! Give me a break!!! I really didn?t understand what she was talking about. She said the tile installer should have installed the granite shelves, not Granite Tech. That was the first time I was hearing this, and I wondered why Granite Tech didn?t cut the shelves before the tile installer completed his job so that the tile installer could have fitted the shower shelves securely. This was completely different from what they said five months ago, so it was very confusing! This all could have been avoided with a little communication. I'm sure my tile installer would have been happy to install the granite soap/shampoo shelves if he had been given the shelves to install. I could have easily driven to Chino Valley to the Granite Tech office to pick up the shelves if I had known they wanted tile installer to put in the shelves. At this point I had absolutely no idea what to do about the shelves because I certainly did not want water in my walls. So I moved the conversation to the two big problems with their original installation. Gary looked at the sink and agreed that the sink was accidentally installed backwards, and then he abruptly picked up his tools and left with Julie following. As he was walking away from my house with his back to me I asked him to come back and talk with me to solve the problems. He said that he wasn?t going to talk with a ?crazy lady? and continued to walk to his truck. What??? Not once did I raise my voice or talk quickly with anger, or display any body language that would indicate anger or power. I told him that his comment was inappropriate and unprofessional, but he just ignored me and got into his truck. I told him I chose Granite Tech over all the other fabricators because they seemed honest and trustworthy with a good work ethic, but he again said he would not talk to a "crazy lady". Then he put up his car window right in front of me and they drove away. I paid Granite Tech the full price and I am left with a defective master bath vanity top, a backwards sink, duct tape over the holes in the showers where the shelves should go, and an open section of shower floor where the granite threshold should go. That's another area where water can get in, and I've been putting up with these unfinished problems for 5 months already, with no end in sight due to a company who apparently thinks it?s okay to cheat and talk disrespectfully to their customers.

Everything was terrific. The workmanship by Gary was superb. Our kitchen, laundry room, and master bathroom look like showrooms..........and done exactly like we asked. The workmanship......especially, the cut outs, and the seam matchings are beyond outstanding. Just tremendous. Gary knows what he is doing and just gives you a superb job from beginning to end. Very easy to work with......takes a tremendous amount of pride in his workmanship. We are so happyand thankful that we found Gary the owner of Granite Tech, and have benefited from his quality of work.
Description of Work: During the remodeling of our home, we had a lot of rework granite type things to do, plus add new granite counter tops. Most, if not all granite contractors that arrived to give us quotes, basically shook their heads and said "thanks, but no thanks"...or yes, but I can't warranty the work. The aforemetioned work was regarding widening the granite hole at our kitchen sink so that we could put an undermount sink in and to cut out a portion of the kitchen counter top that was already installed so that we could "slip in" a new induction type cooktop. Also, we added new granite counter tops in the laundry room, and our master bedroom. Gary Jensen, the owner of Granite Tech was recommended to us and Gary came in, looked at the job, gave us a quote which we felt was more than reasonable (it was around $5,000) and wasn't concerned about anything we wanted reworked.

From the beginning to the very end, it was just pure pleasure to work with Gary Jensen of Granite Tech. He really cares and takes pride in his work. Everything was done as asked, on time, and at the price quoted. Gary's work with seams is beyond belief. It is so difficult to see where any seams are with the granite. The kitchen, master bath, and the laundry room look like showrooms. Again, just a first class job done for us.
Description of Work: While remodeling our house that we had just purchased, we were looking for someone experienced in granite counter tops to make a hole wider at the kitchen sink to take out the above counter sink and install a larger under counter sink. We also were looking to cut a hole out of the present granite counter top and install a induction cooktop. We also wanted to take out the above counter sink in the laundry room and put a below counter sink in. We also added granite counter tops in the master bedroom and increased the size of the tops over what was presently installed. We had 3 or 4 different local companies quote us on the above. NONE, wanted to get involved in the work. A few said they would, but no guarantee of their work. We learned of Gary Jensen who owns Granite Tech from the tile installer. Gary came to the house, looked at the worked, offered us some other great ideas, and gave us a great quote for the work to be done.
