We met with Jamie Stoutenburg in July to review panel options and system sizing. Jamie put our electric usage history from the last year into a spreadsheet and showed us the return on investment for the various panel options. We selected high efficiency panels that will meet almost all our electric needs. We also chose an 80 gallon solar water heater. After signing the contract SVS took care of all the paperwork for building permits, applications for solar rebates, coordination with SRP, and getting design approval from our home owner's association. In August SVS inspected our roof and installed all the mounting brackets for the photovoltaic panels. They were right on schedule and the process went smoothly. I was very happy to see that the roof held tight during a rainstorm after the roof work had been done. In early September SVS installed the photovoltaic panels. I was REALLY impressed with the quality of their work and their efficiency. It took them less than one day to complete the installation and they did VERY clean job. The panels were neatly installed, the electrical equipment was mounted on the wall in a convenient location, electrical conduit runs were neatly routed, where the electrical conduit went through the wall they sealed around the conduit so there we no gaps in the wallboard. They also did a good job of cleaning up when they were done. We were inspected by the city and by SRP and easily passed our inspections. In mid October our photovoltaic system was commissioned. SVS and SRP came out together and installed the bi-directional meter and verified correct system operation. SVS showed us how the system works, how to read the meters, and gave us maintenance tips, etc. Two panel cleanings in the first year are included in the price. SVS offers reasonably priced maintenance packages for keeping the panels clean after the first year. Our first full month of electricity production was November. We were very excited to see that we produced more electricity than we used! The solar water heater installation did not go quite as smooth as the solar PV installation but SVS stood behind their commitments and made sure everything turned out well. SVS sub-contracted the solar water heater installation and there were some miscommunications. The water heater was supposed to be solar powered with gas as a secondary heating source. When the installers showed up they said that my solar water heater had to use electricity as the secondary heating source. SVS paid to have an electrician come out to run a 220v electrical line for the water heater. The water heater installers did a reasonably good job but did not wow me like the SVS PV installers. One of the water lines routed in the attic was run right next to the access hole and was not supported between the roof trusses. This looked to me like a hazard. Someone could either trip over the water line and fall through the access hole, or grab the water line to pull themselves up through the access hole and break the water line. I mounted a board a couple feet away from the access hole and the installers came back out the next day and moved the water line for me. The water heater has been functioning properly although the water had a funny taste at first. I drained the water heater twice in the first two months to get rid of the funny taste. There was a lot of sediment in the tank. It looks like the taste problem is now gone.

Arrived on time. Was very professional and courteous. Would have like a bit more knowledge regarding science behind solar and power generation, however, it did not affect my decision.

After attending the 2010 Tucson Home Show, we got a quote from three of the Solar power companies represented. We then researched the relative merits of the various brands of solar panels represented and found that SunPower was the most efficient, though the most expensive. The SunPower rep was having an end of year sale which brought the $/KW cost down to cometitive levels with the other brands. So we made a $13,000 down payment, paperwork was submitted, permits obtained and designs submitted. Then, in early 2011, SunPower called to say that their rep in AZ had declared bankruptcy and absconded with several million dollars worth of customer deposits, company advances and equipment, that they were very sorry, but were working to find another representative in AZ. Not long after that, Sun Valley Solar Solutions (SVSS) called and set up an inspection to re-evaluate the job. They gave us a quote that included a substantial discount and SunPower kicked in a rebate such that our out of pocket expenses to SVSS would be the price quoted above. They made some minor adjustments to the design, resubmitted all the paperwork, and got started on the installation in much less time that originally estimated. We are Very happy with the end product and SVSS was extremely easy to work with.

Sales person was courteous and professional. Quality of material looked to be good but they did not offer any discounts other than the standard energy credits.

Professional person came to discuss options - He gave me all of the technical information - return on investigation - provided me with six options with all costs and specifications so we could make an informed decision. He measured and did drawing of our house and how the solar panels would be positioned. They handled all the paperwork that needed to be submitted to SRP, Home Owners Association. Informed me of the space they would need inside the garage so I could make sure it was open and clear. The kept their schedule and installed the panels. They checked on how it went, responded to emails and phone calls

Sun Valley Solar Solutions did an excellant job from start to finish. The Company personnel were all very nice, polite, knowledgeable, competent, and easy to work with. One of the owners of the Company spent time on our project on the day of panel installation. I called Sun Valley Solar after reviewing Angie's List for solar system providers with high ratings. Tom, a system integrator, calculated the proper size system and cost for my house. He provided me with various information on solar systems. Tom provided me with a copy of Home Power magazine which compared 230 solar panels. This impressed me since the SunPower panels being marketed by Sun Valley Solar are the most efficient panels in the industry. Because of the higher efficient panels, my house needed only 14 panels vs 18 or more by other vendors for the same amount of wattage. This allowed for panel installation on only two areas of the roof instead of three areas. The installation took place over a two day period. Sun Valley Solutions took care of all co-ordination with APS and the City of Scottsdale. They also sent a package to my homeowners association to review. All reviews and inspections by APS, Scottsdale building inspector, and the homeowners association building committee were all approved without exception. The price quoted was the price paid. There were no hidden fees or additional charges. They even purchased a wireless router for my computer in order for it to monitor the output of the system. I would recommend Sun Valley Solar Solutions to anyone interested in a Solar System.

I like that they are a small company and that the owners are hands on. They are over the top on service. Their scheduling was when they said it would be. When they gave me their cost there were no hidden fees. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Sun Valley installed a 5.1KW SunPower system. They were very helpful and had outstanding communication with me about what was going on at every step of the process. They have an office full of very helpful staff, plus one of the owners of the company (Russ, who also sold us the system) is easy to get ahold of and was in frequent contact to let us know what was going on. Their roofing, installation, and site supervisor staff were also very professional and pleasant to have around. The installation was neatly done and no mess was left. Sun Valley made sure that I knew what the work schedule was so that I could keep my dogs out of their way and they were always right on time. I really like that I can monitor the solar panel production during the day. Between the SRP smart meter and their production, I can really monitor my power costs. Sun Valley also can see our solar production and monitors their installed systems so that they can detect any issues immediately. There were a few twists that came up during the design/install process and they were quick to get them solved. The first issue was that we have an older home and our electrical panel was a 100 amp system with no main breaker plus a few sub panels added. SRP required that we upgrade our panel to an all-in-one 200 amp panel, which was a substantial job. The panel upgrade was a job that we had always wante to do, but now were required to do. Sun Valley worked with an electrical contractor to get it done below the cost of quotes we had gotten in years past. We are very happy with their recommended electrician's work and since this was part of the solar job, it also qualifies for the rebate. We are very pleased that we now have an upgraded electrical panel. It is a great improvement to our home and we now have room to expand to several unused slots. Sun Valley also had to make updates to their design plans because of recent changes to city requirements. They made sure that those changes didn't slow down the installation and didn't increase our costs (even though it did cost them more to complete our solar project). Another issue was that we had a few past projects that weren't permitted with the city. Luckily, the quality of the work done by those past contractors allowed us to easily get those inspected so that we could be on our way. This process was not very costly and if we ever sell our home, we will have the permits to provide to any potential buyer. We feel good about this too. My aunt also used Sun Valley (that was about 4 years ago) and recommended Sun Valley to us. She is very happy with Sun Valley and her solar panel system. I highly recommend them.
