We set up the entire backyard redesign, including pool, Landscaping Pergola through Lakeside. The Pergola company they arranged for set terms for deposit, half down and half when completed. They Their invoice to Lakeside, who forwarded to us with her instructions to pay it, and we did. This Pergola company defaulted and lost their license in March 2022, yet Lakeside said nothing to us about this, and kept stringing us along, that the Pergola would be completed when the pool was completed. When Lakeside got final payment, they admitted to us that the Pergola person defaulted, sorry, but that’s “not on us“. They claim it’s a direct deal. We never heard of this company spoke to them, or met with them so how could we deal direct with someone we never heard of or knew? Garbage workmanship, unlicensed, subcontractors, lakeside, won’t back the commitments of their people or work of their subcontractors. Lies to deflect responsibility, lousy experience.
Description of Work: Pool, backyard design, Landscaping, Pergola. Their subcontractor Pergola, person defaulted and Lakeside is trying to claim that we dealt with him directly. We never spoke to, met or heard of them before. Kuehl Travertine took over six months and is still laid incorrectly. Chipping, cracks from rubber, mallets and flat head screwdriver’s to pry them out and redo them. Drainage/ponding issues. Garbage workmanship all the way around. We filed a complaint with the Arizona registrar of contractors. Late side has 10 complaints against them and seven this year alone.

My project is not complete and I used the company in Glendale, AZ. My pool & landscape project was contracted in December 2020. Excavation began July 2021 one month after closing on a newly built home. All contact was professional until the project was actually started. Communication appropriate with customer service reps. Very poor return communication with construction manager. Made promises to come to the home and never showed up, doing this more than once. Thus far, each phase (plumbing, steel, electrical) has taken and is taking an unusually long period of time. I have had a hole in my backyard since July which just has plumbing and steel after 6 months. And after a very angry email exchange with the design manager I am concerned the delay is retaliation for my complaints. Mine is not a large project. Neighbors using other companies in the area have projects that are completed even though they started those projects after mine. I’ve been told multiple times that delays are industry-wide which is clearly not the case. The blame is being placed on the contractors but if that were the case and customers are getting angry, why wouldn’t this company find alternatives to get projects done? The issue now is that I’m stuck with Lakeside Pool and am at their mercy to complete this project. No other pool company wants to take over an incomplete project. Lakeside Pools offers no sincere apology or mitigation offer, only excuses and arguments. I am sorry I chose Lakeside Pools and would never recommend them to anyone.

Prior to selecting Lakeside it seemed everyone had their horror story of who not use and everyone we sought advice from all mentioned one of the local companies citing some friend had a horrible experience. We contacted several companies and most were slow to respond. Some responded half way through the pool construction. When we met Eric Roberts of Lakeside we knew we were going with Lakeside. He was very professional, upfront on all information, and listened to what we envisioned for a backyard and came up with a great design. Living in Estrella we were warned ahead of time that the dig could become a hard dig to the rock below the ground. The pool we got was 16x35 and 2 ft down they hit near solid granite. The result was 2 days of jack hammering and an additional $3000 for the hard dig. This was the only unknown expense of the project. There were a few issues with some of the sub-contractors as I wanted a few items redone. Each time Lakeside was quick to respond and have the issues fixed quickly with no additional expense. Also we requested several changes to the design throughout the process; added solar heater and mist system, added more travertine, upgraded the lights, and installed the light controller. Each time Lakeside quickly gave me estimates and gladly completed the additional work. For your pool I recommend color LED lights for the pool and due to the size of the pool we installed two. The 2 LED lights are synchronized to a controller and make the pool look great with various colors at night. The Bull BBQ Grills that Lakeside offers are great also. If you are considering building a pool, I recommend Lakeside.
Description of Work: How a new house in Estrella with nothing but dirt in the backyard. contracted Lakeside to install a pool with waterfall feature, travertine, BBQ Grill Island, firepit, and landscaping.

Working with Lakeside pools was a frustrating and disappointing experience. The timeline took longer than it should have. The City inspection certificate was delayed due to Lakeside not informing us of what needed to be done to pass the inspection. The pump was faulty and the problem was not discovered until a month after it was installed. We were supposed to have 90 days of maintenance included, during which our pool turned green (we bought the chemicals and fixed the problem ourselves). To top it all off, we discovered the sewer line was damaged during excavation AFTER the pool installation was complete which we have to repair and pay for out of our own pocket. Lakeside will not take responsibility for any issues and will blame the homeowner. Do not waste your time on this company.
