The Mitsubishi 65" DLP was not a good buy - but the service from Best Buy was the worst. When I purchased the extended warranty (PSP) the salesman told me that it included a free bulb replacement, and I could request it at any time before the plan expiration, even if the current bulb was still working. When I called to have it replaced they told me they would not do it, unless the current bulb was not working! In addition to that I had an intermittent problem with the sound going on and off that was hard to replicate. Since the soudn was working when the techs came to my house they just denied coverage. The warranty was about to expire and they told me that since I called before the warranty expiration that it will be covered, I just had to call when the sound was off. A few days later, the warranty had just expired, I called because the sound at that point was not working. They told me that they would come, but that they would have to charge me since the warranty had expired. Again they lied to me and there is nothing I could do. Do not buy extended warranties from anywhere. All are the same. They will take your monye and find any excuse to deny you coverage.
Description of Work: I bought a 65" DLP with a Performance Service Plan (extended warranty).

They didn't charge me anything as my computer was under warranty and so it was not a price issue. I bought my computer and my battery wouldn't hold its charge. I had a warranty on my computer with them so that they would fix anything even if it broke. I couldn't charge it with a cable because that also broke. I had this before and I had fixed it myself by soldering it and I didn't want to go that direction because it was under warranty. I paid extra to have the service warranty. I brought my computer in and I knew what exactly was wrong. There was nothing wrong with my hard drive and I was a little nervous because they said they had to send it out. I didn't have time to download stuff from it before they took it. They said it would take 2 weeks and I asked them to get it done early. I asked them if I could have a battery that I could use so that I could get the stuff that I was working on and they said they couldn't. I gave them my email and phone number so that they could call me. Two weeks passed and I didn't receive anything. I kept calling them and no one would return my calls. I got a hold of someone 5 and half weeks later and they told me it just got shipped out and it should be there in 2-3 days. I called them again at 6 and half weeks and I go in there to pick up computer. I was curious to know why it took 7 weeks and they told me that we decided to replace the hard drive to stimulate the part. I was very distraught and upset because no one told me that they were going to replace the hard drive. They don't keep your hard drive, they destroy it. No one told me there was anything wrong with my hard drive when I brought it in. I deal with computers all the time and I also work in that field. If my hard drive would have been broken I would have had someone take it off the hard drive. I know it. Information can be taken off the hard drive. They just ruined my hard drive, all my information and all my work without contacting me or asking me. I was the customer and the response that I got from the management that basically said that they are not responsible for anything. It was a generic clause. I signed in that I was bringing in a battery and cord and they said they would call me. There was no apology because I signed on that paper. I got that from upper management. I read review about that store being unapologetic and they were not willing to help with anything. For me it was a tragic loss and I was devastated. I was just not angry but devastated with the loss of years of work. I didn't get a chance to download the stuff and I was very upset and distraught. All I got from them continually was that we are responsible. It was a very bad experience. I would never go to them again. The management and the general manager as well were horrible and had no customer service. Not once did anyone call me even after I had to get my computer back. They had to install my operating system and still they didn't call me. I had to track them down to find out what the status was. I ultimately got the wire fixed on my own. I would have never authorised them to destroy my hard drive. If I would have ruined it and I didn't back it up then it was my fault but I did not like that. I was very upset. They didn't take responsibility and there was a break down of communication within the company.

Customer service and product knowledge are a joke here. You'd better know what you're looking for when you walk through the door. I feel sorry for anybody who comes in and asks for advice from one of the staff who work here. Go to a web forum like AVS to get real information on A/V products before you buy and you'll soon know way more that the average BB employee.
Description of Work: I purchased a plasma TV that was on sale at this store. I bought a great TV at the best price I could find. While I am extremely happy with the TV and the price, I left the store unhappy with their service. I practically had to beg someone to help me, even though there were six employees in the home theater area. They were not with other customers, they just couldn't be bothered to help me. I spoke to one, who disappeared and never came back. I finally had to complain to a manager and he got someone to help me.

The price was great, the problem is with delivery. Was told by the delivery/installation department the dishwasher was going to be delivered on 8/24. They never showed or called that day, I had to call them. When I complained to the appliance manager that I took the morning off and they failed to deliver, he seemed to care less. Best Buy was finally able to deliver the item on 8/28. (I requested a morning delivery, they would not accommodate, even though they botched the first delivery.) This store has great prices, but the company that is subcontracted for their deliveries is poor to say the least. FYI: For appliance deliveries, you get a 24 hour notice and a two hour window. For appliance installs you get called the morning of the install and are given a two hour window. I found dealing with their install/delivery department difficult, especially for us who have to work for a living. Don't even try to request a delivery two or three days out.
Description of Work: Needed to replace a defective dishwasher. Did some research and Best Buy had the best price.
