Big problem---my Dell ,All in One, desk top computer, had been hacked and was performing very slowly. Service owner, Ken Butters, serviced my computer ; solved the problem and now it's computing like it was new. Ken is very knowledgeable ,diligent and professional. Ken waisted no time to backup my files and repair my hard drive. The experience was fast, seamless and professional. He identified the virus and the corrupted files. After backing up my entire hard drive, he reformatted it and then, walked me through getting my files in their proper places. Ken is a lifesaver!

Terrible. He is using pirated software and installing key codes on computers that will expire after 30 days after charging an outrageous $150.00. Not to mention that we had to drive out to Gilbert to take the computer after he screwed up! Now he is not answering his calls or following up with a problem that he has made worse. Now in order to fix this problem I will lose everything on my computer AGAIN and may have to pay to have a legal copy of Windows installed which could of been avoided if he had just fixed it right the first time or at the very least gave us our money back so we can get it fixed correctly!! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! This has been a nightmare from beginning to end!
Description of Work: Hired Aztek aka Ken Butters, after my laptop decided to zonk out after I tried to install a Windows update. Ken came out and picked up the laptop with a promise he would have it back in a couple of days but that we would have to pick it up. He called a couple of days later and we arranged to pick up the laptop at his house in Gilbert (not close to us I might add) After picking up the computer we thought everything was fine but then I noticed that I was getting messages on the computer that Windows was not activated . I didn't give it much thought at first but then it persisted and said I only had 15 days to activate Windows or I would not be able to do very much on the computer. After checking into the matter, the message the computer said was that the activation key code had already been used and that I needed another key code. We called Ken and arranged to bring the computer to him in Gilbert for him to correct the issue. He installed another key code and said that should take care of everything. He was in the middle of moving and did not have the internet so could not check to see if the code was really good or not. Well low and behold after I got home I received the same message. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. Tried calling Ken and got ahold of him the first time said he was in the middle of moving and would call us back with a different code or give us our money back but have not heard from him since and that was over a week ago. We have left several messages but no response!

Customer was unable or unwilling to drop off the computer at my home office, and lives in excess of 50 miles away. Customer represented situation as an emergency, yet I neither charged him the $1 per mile (if over 20 miles), nor did I charge him the rush service rate. I actually reduced my rate, as it sounded like he was in quite a bind. I finished the project quickly, but found out later the appropriate (fully licensed and paid for) key code had been packed and was in storage, as I was in the process of moving my residence. When customer informed me of the problem, I bought another key to replace it, and the cost for the non-high-volume price was in excess of what I charged the customer, not to mention the discounts and rate cuts I had already conceded. To make matters worse, the key code replacement appeared initially to be valid, but turned out not to be the case. Customer told me, and I responded by offering to refund his money, which he accepted. The next day, I was rushed into emergency surgery for my lower back, and have had three more surgeries since, and am barely able to walk. I am currently not able to lift over 5 lbs, which has rendered me both disabled and unemployed. I still have some new, unused, valid, and legal licenses for Windows XP and Office 2003, which I would be happy to use to repair customer’s computer. I have been bedridden and unable to sit in front of a computer for quite some time, and deeply apologize for the delayed response. Best Regards, Ken Butters

My Windows Vista was crippled, especially when I used the internet. In addition, I discovered programs that had run flawlessly were no longer easy to open. I was in a panic. Ken was able to pick up my computer immediately, and within 24 hours had cleaned out all extraneous junk-- and there was a lot, and installed safeguards to maintain my computer's health and fitness. When he returned my computer, he spent an hour explaining all the changes he had made and why and taught me how to use these new maintenance programs, calmly, patiently, and respectful of my low computer IQ. All for only $100. I will recommend Ken to anyone without hesitation.

The overall experience was great. Ken immediately diagnosed the situation and went to work. He allowed me to observe what he was doing and answered my questions. His advice was confident and on a few items that could have resulted in a higher fee he recommended against that service.

Computer lost part of its memory and locked up. I checked Angies List and got the results for a local (Gilbert) repair person. I had to call Angie's List because I had no computer and they provided the information I needed - thanks. I called Ken and told him the problem and said he could come by later and get my computed after he got out of his class which he did. We discussed other problems and he had a solution for all of them. He did the repairs needed and also added more memory at no charge as well as the debugging and clean up. He returned the computer and hooked it back up and got it set up for our use again. All of this was done at a fixed price which was lower that other quotes I had received.
Description of Work: Repaired my computer that had been infected with a "bug". Came to the house and unhooked the computer and took it with him to debug and returned within 36 hours with the work done. (Also got down in the floor with our new yellow lab and played with her)

I called Ken about two laptops and a desktop that I was having problems with. Instead of asking me to bring them in, Ken discussed the situation with me over the phone and walked me through the pros and cons of fixing the units. He even gave me a web page reference to Dell's outlet store to find replacements since the cost to repair wasn't worth the bang for the buck.
Description of Work: Hardware repairs on two laptops and a desktop. One of the laptops needed a new on/off switch and the desktop kept rebooting at the end of the power up cycle.

As with my first experience in using Ken's services, he was prompt and his charges were more than reasonable. I called him on a Monday morning, delivered the machine to his office that afternoon and waited while he fixed it.
Description of Work: I had been noticing for a couple of weeks that my PC had been slow to boot and often would not open files from the desktop. Finally, it quit booting altogether and I called Ken (last summer he had "upgraded" the PC, a Dell when it was new, from Vista to XP and I was very satisfied with the work he had done) to see what he could do. Frankly, I assumed it would be necessary to leave the machine with him for a few days and that he would have to reformat the HD. I took the machine to him on a Monday afternoon and to my surprise, he fixed the problem while I waited (took about an hour) and it wasn't necessary for me to re-load any software. I'm not quite sure what he did, but it worked and the machine is operating as it did when it was new.

Within five minutes of calling, he suggested some solutions that worked. He then offered some general knowledge/help. This guy is the best. He enjoys talking to clients and helping them out. He fixed a problem over the phone that another computer repair place could not. I almost wish I had something wrong where I actually had to pay him. He deserves it.

After about 10 minutes he discovered that it was a loose processor. He re-connected it, cleaned out the dust, reconnected all the connections, then cleaned up my hard drive so the computer would run much faster. He also cleaned up the hard drive of a laptop.

Of course I had waited until the last minute and wanted the computer back that day IF possible. Ken was not sure he could do it but he did! He completed the job within 4 hours, installed the Verizon Wireless for us and cleaned up the files. He was INCREDIBLE!! Very responsive and what a pleasure to find someone who is customer oriented!! He was reasonable for the work performed too.
Description of Work: We wanted our laptop upgraded to XP from 2000 so we could use it with Verizon Wireless more effectively. Ken returned the call within 10 minutes and I dropped the laptop off at his place.

After, more than 15 hours on the phone with tech support, to no avail, I finally decided to check Angie's list. I tend to support only those companies, that receive an overall "A" report, and was happy to find Aztek Electronix, which not only had an excellent overall report, but was also located, not too far from my home. I contacted Ken and explained my situation and he assured me, that he could solve my problem by re-installing the operating system and that he could probably have it fixed, within 2 days. I run my business from home and I was anxious to get my computer back up and running, as I had already lost three full days. I dropped off my hard drive on Friday morning and Ken had it to me, first thing Monday morning. I couldn't be happier with his work, or with his price. I had received a quote from Data Doctors for $150/hour. I would definitely call Ken again, and will certainly refer him to my friends & business associates.
Description of Work: Ken completely re-installed my Windows operating system and upgraded my computer to Microsoft Office, as well as provided numerous suggestions for anti-virus/anti-spyware software.

I emailed Ken early in the morning, outlining the work I needed. Within one hour, he called me and very clearly outlined several options available to me, with the cost of each option. I delivered the computer to his work site and within the time agreed, he finished the work required. For work done, the value added and the timely completion of the work, the price was a genuine bargain. I would, without reservation, recommend Ken Butters and Aztek Electronix to anyone needing PC support. I will use them again for any and all future needs and will recommend them to my friends and associates.
Description of Work: Ken removed Windows Vista operating system from my new Dell computer, replaced it with Windows XP OS and installed a Firewire PCI card which will enable me to upload and edit video from my camcorder. (Windows Vista does not recognize the IEEE 1394 (Firewire) protocol).

My husband and I are big supporters of small business and that was one of the big reasons we called Aztek Electronix.. One concern I have is whether or not a computer professional would take advantage of me the same way that mechanics are known to do, meaning, I didn't want to spend an outrageous amount of money to fix something that wasn't really broken or upgrade when it wasn't necessary. You wouldn't need to have that concern with Ken. He was always very professional and honest. Ken returned my calls promptly, was very willing answering questions, drove out of his way to meet me, and was pleasant to work with. I was very surprised that he did not charge me for the diagnosis. He told my husband that he wouldn't feed comfortable charging me since he didn't do much work. I know that he spent time working with our computer and we appreciated his gesture. My husband and I had the impression that Ken is a very honest man who was not out to take advantage of his customers.
Description of Work: My 3 year old computer was not booting up. At first, I thought that my computer had a virus and was very concerned. On my first conversation with Ken, he listened to the problem and told me what the problem might be and possible repair methods. He was very willing to come over to my home but since my husband was available he brought the computer to Ken. (This was a $10/hr savings) At first, Ken thought the problem was the power source, which didn't surprise me because we have had problems on our computer with this before. After he installed a new power source he determined that this was not the problem. Upon further investigation, Ken told us that the motherboard was not functioning properly and we needed to get a new one (if at all possible since the computer is 3 years old) or buy a new computer.

I described PC problems over the phone and the upgrades I also wanted. He replied immediately and gave me a written estimate. He did all the work I requested and completed the work in less than one day. He also made several helpful suggestions, explained options and let me determine what should or shouldn't be done based on my needs. For the work done, the value added and the rapid work, the price was a real bargain. I would recommend Aztek Electronix to anyone needing PC support. I will use them again for any future needs.

When I called Ken, he could sense that I needed my computer fixed NOW! He took the time to explain to me what could be causing the problem and offered a couple of options as to how he could go about repairing it. I explained that I needed my computer to do some important paperwork and I'll be darned if he didn't go out of his way to take care of everything for me in a VERY TIMELY manner! I cannot express my appreciation enough for all of his help. Ken is VERY professional and courteous! His rates were exceptionally reasonable. It is so nice to know there are still people out there who live by the "Golden Rule" rather than try and charge you for services you don't need. I would not hesitate to recommend Ken to anyone having problems with their computer! He is straight-forward and is more than willing to back up his work! I, myself, am DELIGHTED to have someone who I know I can depend on to help my with my computer problems should I run into any trouble in the future!
