California Pools and Landscape They were very responsive and they had the ability to provide 3-D images of what the pool and decking will look like based on our setting. So they had some really sophisticated tools to be able to get exact dimensions of property lines and so forth.

the design process was the most fun... Dave Grau provided a great product and established a close bond... he never seemed to tire of our design changes... the pool and quot;digand quot; team did an amazing job and the team that sprayed the shotcrete put up a tarp to minimize flying debris during the application spraying (just remember it is a very dirty part of the job)... application of tiles and pepple-tec went smoothly... the pool is beautiful and completed with one exception that will be addressed when the construction supervisor gets back to town (from vacation)... we also had a very thorough equipment orientation from Jessie... the construction supervisor, Shawn, was always professional and courteous... the schedulers did a great job dealing with our crazy availability (out of town on short notice)... we hope never to have to build another pool but, if we did, we would not hesitate to use California Pools again... great team! now we are anxious for the completion of back yard landscaping so we can enjoy the pool... the landscaper is Native Outdoors, a company that works closely with California Pools in our subdivision, Mountain Bridge...

Sales Rep new to the business so I had to hear all about his background, the pool company and his goals. 3D design provided looked like a 3rd grader had done. I was given a price higher than what I told him my budget was. I had to call him for the written estimate. He has not contacted me; no follow-up calls or emails.

I am preparing to have my diving pool resurfaced, with either plaster or possibly pebble. I have had bids from several other companies, and know my budget and what the ballpark figure is going to be for the cost of the project. I am going to make my decision within two weeks. Unfortunately, I don't seem important enough for california pools. Perhaps since it's just a resurfacing and I'm not spending 25K+ on a new pool? I call to make an appointment for an estimate, which should be VERY simple. After repeating my name four times to get the spelling right, another call comes in. Could I hold? Um, OK, even though I haven't even been taken care of yet. So instead of being put on hold I'm hung up on, right before being able to give them my phone number so they can call me back. Perhaps this is a good thing. Problems: 1. Not taking care of a potential customer first. 2. Not being able to schedule an estimate (20 min, tops) immediately. The company schedule should be available for reference, not, and quot;Can someone else call you back sometime.and quot; (Which is usually the worst time--I am on the phone NOW to make an appointment.) 3. Poor customer service now = poor customer service later. There are many other companies to choose from, so maybe one of them will be more interested in bidding for my project.

They did a great job. And were very professional.

So this is an update from my January 2013 review. After my January 2013 Angie's List review, California Pools became very responsive and willing to try to reverse the previous negative experience. They were priced better than most of their competitors and provided a warranty second to none. We had a complete remodel of the pool including equipment, removal of an old spa, refinish of the deck, and and addition of a fire pit and planter. Work was finished last weekend. We have a few punch list items to address, but all in all, we are satisfied with our remodeled California Pool. Todd Hutchinson, Remodel Construction Manager, was awesome.

Called them from New York as I was to be there in a few weeks, made an appointment to meet at the property. We walked the property and within a week had a plot mplan and pricing. Wife wanted to see some changes made and I contacted them and had a redesign in less than a week. They are extremely responsive when asked to make a change, this was a tough estimate as my wife wanted a laundry list of pricing so she could pick and choose which features to go with as we needed to keep within a budget.

Things went just as they were described to us. We really didn't have to do much. They worked seemlessly with our mortgage company and completed the pool in the timeframe we were give. I was always informed on where they were schedule wise and when the next step would be completed. We had a few issues with their subs but one call was all it took to get someone from California Pools to come out and address the problem. About the only shortfall on their part was that of training us about upkeep and maintenance. The guy that came out just gave us a quick overview. I was expecting more. Other than that it turned out great.

Trust Dave's design talents. He will make the most out of your backyard.

Scott was able to set a survey appointment up within a reasonable time frame (I think 24 hours from the time I had contacted the company). When he came out, he didn't and quot;beat around the bushand quot; or try to sell me more than I was interested in having done. As a matter of fact, When I mentioned the possibility of having our pool/patio deck redone, he recommended a different process that would be less expensive as our deck is still in really good condition. I was impressed with the timeliness in which he took measurements and gathered the information necessary to provide a bid. We received the bid within 24 hours of our meeting and are very satisfied. When we are ready to have our pool remodeled, we will be using California Pools and Landscape.

I contacted California Pools several months ago and set up an appointment for a bid. Mike showed up and brought a bag full of samples, which my husband and I really liked. Mike sat and listened to all of our must haves and promised to do a computer generated pool design. At least a month went by without us hearing from Mike but he eventually called and set up another appointment; this time he brought a landscaper with him. Mike showed us the computer generated pool plan and we discussed landscaping options. He went away and I didn't hear from him for several more weeks. Mike did call and leave a voice mail to which I promptly returned his call only to leave a voice mail. I never heard from his again. I could only surmise this company does not need the tens of thousands of dollars we were going to spend on the pool remodel and would NEVER consider using them or referring them to anyone. Their rating on this site is not reflective of the lack of service my husband and I received.

Cliff was excellent in designing a pool, the size of which fit our requirements in the back yard as well as giving us an estimate for landscaping the remainder of the yard. Steve, job superintendent, followed up on all aspects of the construction in the yard and was able to expedite the project to have the pool completed in time for our visiting grandchildren. Cindy in the office kept us apprised of when the subcontractors would be in and what would be done next including the inspections and with one minor exception things went exactly as planned. Any small problems that have arisen since the completion of all the work have been handled immediately and to our satisfaction. There have been several followups since the completion of the construction to make sure we are satisfied. I would definitely recommend this company and have done so in the future

So Angie's List tells me that this is a great place to get a pool here in AZ.I request more information from the email link on Angies List from Cal Pools and a few others.Cal Pools is the ONLY place that responds the next day.So I decide to call them and set up an appointment at their and quot;design centerand quot;.Everyone was cordial. I even got a free Diet Coke. But when we sat down with the and quot;Designerand quot; we got a ball park and quot;20-30Kand quot; with a lot of and quot;it just depends on what you getand quot;and and quot;go look at our pools at the Model homes 30 miles from here, then you can see what they look likeand quot;.We expected someone to say and quot;here is the cost of a basic pool, that includes this kind of filter, this kind of suface, etcand quot;and quot;Here is the cost of cool decking options per square footand quot;and quot;here is the cost of other features that we offerand quot;and quot;he are the advantages of this type of pool system vs that oneand quot;and quot;AND let me come out a look at your site, take some measurements and give you some optionsand quot;BUT no one said that...We left bewildered. In this economy, here was a cordial customer with money to spend and a desire to BUY butapparently, they are doing so well, customers like us are a dime a dozen. VERY DISAPPOINTED

Faaaabulous experience! From the sales/design process to the finished product, everything was just right. We simply can't say enough about our Superintendent Monte. His responsiveness and attention to detail kept the whole process running smoothly and ensured a finished product that exceeded our expectations. They even sent a mobile unit to our house to choose colors so we didn't have to make a trip to the office. That was such a pleasant surprise! The office staff kept us right on schedule even though we threw 2 changes from the original plan into the mix! They're all so nice and they kept us well informed as to who would be at the house when. Not once were we left waiting for a crew that never showed - not once!! Amazing! Simply put, they did everything they said they'd do and more, every step of the way.

Everything went suburb. They did an excellent job!

The service providers work very hard to the job. Overall its been a good experience.

The pool is absolutely beautiful. There were 3 different supervisors during the process as we did run into some problems. When they came out to show us how to use the pool, we realized the propane tanks had not been installed so that delayed the end product. But all and all we are happy with the end result. As an update to this review I have to say that after having my pool for only 5 years, the cool decking has chipped and broken off all around my pool. I am in the process of seeing what they will do for me regarding this. I know many, many people who have pools and their cool decks are far older than mine and are in great shape! When the decking started to crack and come off someone came out and painted over the spots - there was no repair to the decking itself. There were some large cracks which were filled in and then painted over - the color didn't match well at all. I will update this review with the outcome of my problem.

On November 16, 2011, Mark Helmer, Remodel Project Manager, came to give us suggestions and an estimate on remodeling the pool. Work began on November 23. The old tiles were removed, the old plaster finish was ground down and some rebar repair work done. New tiles were installed and the Pebble Sheen finish applied. Work was completed and pool refilled by December 3rd. Throughout the project, and after completion, Bill Hearn, Remodel Superintendant, visited project to oversee work quality and progress. We were very pleased with the quality of the work performed and the service provided by both Mark and Bill and would definitely recommend California Pools.

Someone came out and I agreed to start the work with him and then he quit and I never heard from the company. I called them again and they sent a different man out. He came out and was wonderful. He was full of energy and very professional. I went to their office to pick out the tile and then after that I never heard from them again. This company has horrible follow up. I would have done a $30,000 project with this company but they lost it.

I spent about $80000 for the job done by them. The design was very good. The final details were not up to par. I would consider using their services in the future.

Work preformed as advertised, we are absentee, so have not yet seen, but paid the regular pool service man to inspect along and before final payment. He said work is satisfactory. (We would of had this expense regardless who we used.) California kept me informed with mobile phone pictures and e-mail reports. We had some changes generated by us, adding the fence, pool hand rails and steps which was no problem and priced fairly. Really appreciated the and quot;turn keyand quot; of fence and fixtures so we did not have to try to find and coordinate the work of several contractors. California walked me through the color choices. We are happy. The only thing we wish could have been different we understand is governed by statute. That is paying anything up front, before any work is done. We prefer to pay on a percentage of completion as the work progresses with a retainage withheld until the job is finished and inspected. Were able to negotiate a minimal retainage, but had to pay for a portion of the work before it was performed. We were told the licensure authorities require/allow this, but it is generally not good business on our part. The vendor would have Mand M lien protection we would think and not need this. However, in this case it was a moot point, as California did all the work they promised, when they promised and in a quality workman like manner. Therefore, we are pleased and give them a very good reference.

They stand by their work. We had them do another pool in the past and their warranty was fabulous. That was the reason we used the again. I don't think they have the best price in town. They have been in business for over 25 years.

It's been 6 yrs so I don't remember all the details, but they were always on schedule and completed the pool in the time frame they gave me. I had a few small issues after the pool was completed and they always sent someone the next day to resolve the problem.

We were very satisfied and would use the company again without any concern. The company was responsive, they provided samples, once we chose the type of stone finish we wanted and communicated it, they came and did everything. The area was always clean and there was no obvious sign that we were having re-construction of our pool. I would say the company was very responsive, and provided excellent services. When I had what I considered a concern about one of the steps being damaged, the representative was already aware and had planned to repair it....very nice. I felt as though they were always aware of the overall status of our pool resurfacing and responded in a very timely manner .

They were fabulous. My experience with them was great. They did everything they said they would do. They showed up on time. Their followup and customer service were terrific. They were the best there could be. I will use them again in the future.
