The plumber arrived the following day after I called and on time. I called several places for quotes, Brooklyn plumbing was the cheapest for the pressure reducing valve. On time and on budget. Would recommend

Overall, it exceeded my expectations when I made the call this morning to sitting here less than four hours later with a new water heater.
Description of Work: I called Mark Auld this morning and he was at my house within two hours. I knew my water heater needed replacing so I did price and water heater compares from Lowes, Home Depot and Sears prior to him coming. His price to pickup a new heater (same size capacity as old one), installation, and disposal of old one was totally in line with the cost from the companies I compared. Mark was professional, courteous and did a professional installation. I would highly recommend him and will be calling him for all my plumbing needs

Mark arrived right on time as confirmed earlier in the week. Gas heater was installed and he installed some additional insulation per my request. The work was done neatly and well organized. Garbage disposal was installed and tested perfectly. Cost was exactly as estimated over the phone, so no added surprise charges there. Mark has a great attitude and does a good job, I would use Brooklyn Plumbing again without a doubt.

We initially had Mark come out to repair a service sink faucet that we couldn't get to turn off. I called him and within two hours he was at our house. It turned out that the faucet required replacement parts that had to be ordered through the manufacturer so he wasn't able to complete work on it that day but while he was at our home that afternoon he did replace our problem kitchen faucet with a new one. Upon leaving that day he told me to give him a call once the replacement parts arrived and he would come out to repair it at no additional charge. I did call him several weeks later and true to his word, he rebuilt the faucet with the parts that had come in. During this service call he also repaired two toilets for us. I have already referred Mark to several friends and my grandma has used his services upon my recommendation. He is very reasonably priced, personable, professional and seems to have a tremendous amount of experience in the field of plumbing. He is a joy to do service with and although I hope I don't require plumbing services again anytime soon, I know that if I do, he is the one I will be calling.

He called and arranged the installation date. He called when he was on his way, and confirmed his arrival time. He showed up right on time, and dug into the work. There were some problems caused by the configuration of my old water heater. He overcame all of them. The work was done perfectly, and he explained the operation of the unit even though it is so new that most plumbers had never heard of it. This guy is a great resource to those of us how are only marginally able to do our own plumbing, When you see the "A" grades they received, you can believe them. They are not just courtesies.
Description of Work: Mark installed a new heat-pump electric water heater. I called about 8 plumbers, and none of them had heard of these. Rheem and GE came out with them in October 2009. He worked very hard to find out all of the particulars, he found an incredible price from his source, and installed it. He is a very knowldegeable guy, honest, and fair. The work was done in less time than he estimated, and he repaired two faucets that were not in the original project. I will use Brooklyn Plumbing for everything from now on.

Called on a Sunday, arrived within 1 hour, fixed within 1 hour. Awesome. I tried doing this work myself, and then realized I was "stuck" along with the water shut off at our house. They used a couple 'tricks' to get the things out, with no way that I would have been able to do, without breaking something else. Great job.

I first called and we played phone tag a couple times and then we set an appointment. Mark showed up right on time for the estimate and he gave me a fair price that included the parts. He had to run and buy the parts since he didn't have enough on his truck but he didn't charge me for that. A week or so later I noticed the faucet was running slow and he came by and fixed that at no charge. (It was due to the sediment getting loose from changing out the "angle stops and risers"). He was neat and clean and a nice guy, and I am happy with the work that was done.
Description of Work: I had a couple miscellaneous odd jobs but the main thing he did was replace those old metal connections under the sink (four of them). "Angle stops and risers" he called them.

I was extremely apprehensive about the job because it required rerouting the pipe through the ceiling form one end of the house to the other end. Mark minimized the holes in the ceiling, used copper pipe, tested everything, cleaned up, arranged for the drywall to be repaired. All in all he made it seem like a walk in the park.

We discovered that a pipe was leaking under our kitchen floor. This so-called slab leak was the first at our 17-year-old house, but we had heard of the problem from some of our neighbors. A couple of them had suffered two or three slab leaks over several years. Fortunately, we caught ours right away and didn't suffer any tile damage. We knew that we didn't want to tear into the tile and concrete slab in order to patch a pipe in one spot only to maybe have to do it again and again. We had read about repiping, that is, rerouting the water starting with where it enters the house in order to avoid having water running under the slab. I joined Angie's list to check on a (different) plumber that someone had recommended. I had done an internet search on that plumber and saw a link to Angie's List. I wasn't impressed by that company's reviews, so I started looking at other plumbers who do repiping. I reviewed the Angie's List reviews for quite a few plumbers in the Phoenix area and was impressed by what I read about Mark Auld and his company, Brooklyn Plumbing. I called him up and described the problem. He offered to come out right away, but I explained that we had shut off the water but could turn it on briefly for showers or whatever without causing any damage and said that the next day would be fine. Mark came out and explained out options even though he knew that we were leaning strongly toward a repipe job. He told us that he could reroute the water to avoid the slab and that the new or altered first-floor pipes would connect with our second-floor plumbing. He said he would be using all copper pipes, which is what he did. He quoted a price of $4,800. He said it might end up being less than that but definitely would be no more. He also said the price would include all drywall repairs except painting. I said that I had painted the walls that would be affected and that I still had some paint left over, so that was OK. The price also included some extras such as replacing the flex tubing and shutoff valves for our toilets and sinks (upstairs and downstairs) if they hadn't been replaced in recent years. I was impressed by Mark's honest, straight-forward way and decided to go with him. I usually get multiple bids for a big project and should have done so in this case, if for no other reason than to have a point of comparison for price. But I had a rough idea about how much repiping costs and felt that this was a good price. Some internet searching later confirmed that the average price of a repiping for a house our size (2,300 square feet) is higher. About halfway into the job Mark said that we were probably looking at a final price of $4,300 -- $500 less than the $4,800. But he later discovered that the old pipes in the kitchen and their connection to the second floor weren't as logically placed as he had thought they would be and that we would have to stick with the $4,800 quote. I was OK with that. The project took four and a half days; I think Mark had said it probably would be done in about three and a half days, including drywall repair. Brooklyn Plumbing is a small company: Mark did all of the plumbing work by himself except for having a helper -- also an excellent plumber with lots of experience -- for one full day. I was fine with how long it took. I was just glad that Mark, his assistant and Mark's drywall subcontractor (a three-man crew that was done in one day) were more concerned about doing a high-quality job than about quickly moving on to the next job. And high-quality it was: It's been almost a month since they finished, and we have had no leaks or other problems. On the final day, Mark even installed at no cost to me a shower head and connecting pipe that I bought but was afraid to try to install for fear of creating a leak behind the wall. All in all, we are highly satisfied. And we're sleeping better knowing that we don't have to worry about another slab leak.
Description of Work: After a slab leak, we had the house repiped to avoid having any water -- whether hot or cold -- running under our floors. This involved running quite a bit of new copper pipe, starting with where the cold water comes into the house at the garage. Some new piping ran up from there into the attic over the garage and then down into the first floor. New connections were made to the water heater in the garage and to the downstairs bathroom, laundry room and kitchen. In the kitchen, a new connection was made to the pipes that deliver hot and cold water to the two second-floor bathrooms. The job involved cutting quite a few small holes in the drywall. Only a couple of them were exploratory holes that turned out to be unnecessary. The job included patching the drywall (they did an excellent job).

My garbage disposal hadn't been working and I assumed that a new one would be needed. Mark was able to come out the day after I called him and even gave an exact appointment time rather than a 2 or 3 hour window. He had brought a new disposal with him that he was basically providing at cost (not like some other outrageous mark-ups I'd seen elsewhere); however, thankfully, he was able to repair the existing disposal. As an added surprise benefit, he even gave a written warranty that if the disposal needs more work in the next 6 months he wouldn't charge a service call fee to replace it at that point. Tremendous customer service and I'd most definitely use this honest plumber again for anything. Thanks!

Mark came over promptly and installed the new valve very quickly. He did a professional job, and was clean and neat. The valves in the house are 15 years old, and two of them have been replaced due to leaks. I asked Mark to give me an estimate for replacing the other shut-off valves. He replaced 8 valves for $185, which I consider to be a very good price. (The emergency valve repair was after hours.)

Very good, prompt, uneventful. He diagnosed the problem, told us what our options were, did the job promptly and cleaned up. On both trips he warranteed his work (for 6 months, if I remember right) and noted that on the invoice. Was able to get a fairly quick appointment both times.
Description of Work: We have had him out twice -- once to replace 3 sets of faucets and to do some other minor repairs, and the 2nd time (price mentioned above) to repair a hot water heater (electric) that had stopped heating properly (was first too hot, then not hot at all). He immediately knew what the problem was and was able to replace our thermostats, which had gotten covered with sediment.

Mark was absolutely fantastic both times. The first time, he was prompt, professional and made quick work of removing the old, faulty units and replacing them with the new ones we'd bought. He even hauled off our old dishwasher! We were so well pleased with his work that we called him out again last week. We called about replacing our hideous old kitchen sink and faucet. He questioned me closely about both the new and old units, their conditions and the countertops upon which they rested, then explained that, occasionally, removing a heavy cast-iron sink from a laminate countertop can result in the laminate being damaged. We agreed that he would come out, take a look at the sink and try to remove it without damage to the counter. As it happened, he was, indeed, able to remove the old sink without it causing damage to the counter, so he replaced the sink and faucet on the spot. It turned out to be a more complex job than anticipated (the disposal had to be moved to the other sink bowl), but he got the job done perfectly.
Description of Work: We've had Mark out twice now: first, to replace a broken dishwasher & garbage disposal, and most recently to install a new kitchen sink and faucet.

Mark is a straight shooter and knows what he is doing. He is only in his 30's, but clearly has been doing this type of work for many years. He doesn't try to impress you with fancy marketing or anything. It's him, his van, his experience and his work ethic. I initially called him because I had a leak, but after he took care of me that time. I decided to hire him for a number of projects I had been considering for a long time. It is possible that there was another small repair or two that I am forgetting. My only complaint was that the water extraction people he recommended were a little disappointing. This was the first time he had used them. But, in his defense, we needed to get them out as soon as possible.
Description of Work: Searched for water leak, found it and repaired it. This was $225. Fortunately, it was right where he started looking. Originally, everything looked like a bad water heater, but it was actually a leak in the pipe directly behind it. Also did the following;installed new laundry basin, replaced worn valves to water heater and washing machine, replaced tub spout, replaced drain cover in shower, unclogged bathroom sink and replaced trap under sink. These five tasks were around $750, including drywall and painting of laundry basin. Much of the charge was due to to the drywall and painting.

Mark was awesome. I don't have a problem paying for quality but I have no patience for contractors who are disorganized and flaky. Mark arranged and confirmed his arrivals in advance and he called before he came. He showed up on time *everytime* and was very professional. He took the time to explain the situation, indicated ballpark ranges at the beginning of the job and narrowed it down as more revealed itself. At each point he was kind enough to offer choices and clearly explained the advantages and disadvantages of each possible course of action. He very could have just banged it out and charged the maximum amount from the quote, but was a very transparent operator. He wasn't hiding anything and in the end we paid less than originally expected. He's clearly an honest character and is committed to doing a good job and providing a good value. I had two plumbers out at the same time for the estimate and while his estimate was more expensive, his pricing included all the drywall work. This was a big differentiator, since I don't have the time or patience to hunt down and babysit multiple contractors. Mark did a fine job subcontracting the drywall work and they were a sharp crew as well. All of the other plumbers seemed to wear it as a badge of honor that "we don't do drywall", and they're missing the boat entirely. If there was markup on the drywall work, it was negligible and well worth not having to hassle with finding yet another contractor. For years I've wanted to have a trustworthy plumber to rely upon and just know that if have a problem, I won't have to fret and monkey around trying to find a competent one. I'm very happy knowing that I've now got an excellent plumber, and fully intend to patronize him again whenever the need arises. All in all...I'm very happy.

A pipe broke in the kitchen about midnight. We were able to turn off the water and clean up the water before it went everywhere. I got on Angie's list about 1:30 am and found information about Brooklyn Plumbing so I called Mark about 7:00 am. He was on his way to help a friend but came to our house first and fixed the problem in short order. He was very professional and personal. We used him again to install R/O filters and repair a leak on the R/O line and will definitely use him whenever we need a plumber.
