Alex Mcmillan Painting

Excellent experience. Alex and his team were as professional as anyone could expect. The quality of the work is top notch, and I expect to get at least 10+ years before needing to paint again. The guys took their time in prepping the house before any paint was applied. Made sure to properly scrape the underside of all the eaves of my 2 story 2900 sq ft house, which was no small task. Did a great job of patching and my stucco, and applied a water blocking product to the stucco before painting. The trim of the house looks great. They applied an elastic product to the trim before painting, which helps since direct sun hits them. The cinder block walls look great as well. They pulled all the rock from the base, so they could paint well below the visible line. All the walls were scraped, patched and primed before painting. They use top quality Frazee paint, and applied two coats to the entire house. And walls. They even applied an additional coat to the West facing walls of the house, for extra protection. I had two iron security doors which were older and somewhat rusted. They sanded them down, applied a rust inhibitor to them, and repainted the same color as the house. They turned out great. They did the same for the iron portion of the gate to the backyard, and painted it a shiny black. The power washed the wood on my gate, and Alex went out and purchased a custom stain to match the trim of the house. Looks like new. Overall, I am very satisfied with Alex's work. Alex believes in providing a top quality job for a fair price. He isn't cheap, but if you are looking for high quality for a good value, you can't go wrong with Alex.

I was very impressed with Alex McMillan and his team. They were very professional and went above and beyond to ensure a quality job was done. To keep costs down, we decided not to re-texture the parts of the eaves that needed to be scraped where paint was cracking since we didn't think it would be that noticeable. But once Alex saw that they had to scrape away large amounts of material and it would look bad if they just painted over it without filling it in, he decided to fill it in and re-texture it at no additional charge. Overall I was very pleased with the final product. I will definitely use them again on our rental house when we get it ready to sell it.

Alex is a true professional painter: he provided a written estimate, uses high-quality paint, communicated before and during the process, and did what he said he was going to do.

He did a "before and after" video showing the work. Meticulous attention to detail. This man works the way the old masters used to --- great pride in his workmanship.

Alex and crew were great to work with. We had our house scheduled to be painted right in the middle of the bad rain storms this fall. The crew worked around that that best they could and stayed late on a Sunday just to finish the job. Everything was scheduled and completed as expected, except for the rain, of course. This team does a great job of taking the extra time to make sure things are right. They took time to seal all of the windows and go back with a brush by hand to make sure every detail was correct. Like many of the houses in our neighborhood it was really time to paint, but I think ours is one of the best looking paint jobs on the street. Price was comparable to all the big players, yet I felt like I got a lot more for the $s. Thanks again for a positive experience.

If you need your house painted do yourself a favor and hire this guy. I have used the fly by night cheap painters and you get what you pay for. This guy Alec is a professional painter that knows what he is doing. You pay a little more but they do way more than the others and way more than you expect. From start to finish this guy stayed on schedule, communicated every hidden finding and did way more than contracted. I am an out of state owner and Alec sent photos at every stage. He discussed every point with me. I have never run across a painter that is this professional. I hired him from the reviews on Angie's list because I liked his answers and his business philosophy. I have other properties in the valley and will use Alec exclusively for all of them.

Alex and his team were on schedule from day 1. He was able to accommodate our schedule and get us in between other projects, as we had a short timeline of getting our house painted before other work was being done. They were efficient and got the job done in less than three full days. His crew was clean and did a great job cleaning up behind themselves. They were very easy to work with and pricing was a lot less than comparable estimates.

Two thumbs up to Alex and his crew! We requested bids from 4 painting contractors, one of whom never got back to us. But from the beginning Alex stood out from the others because he was the most knowledgeable and professional. We were able to talk to him at length regarding all our questions. Our house hadn't been painted in 23 years and it was the original contractor paint. There were a lot of cracks in the stucco, the fascia on the south side of the house was peeling and the underside of our patio was in bad shape. The tape was peeling off and there were several holes that needed patching. The wrought iron on our fence was rusting and the paint had started wearing off the block wall. Alex's crew covered not only all the windows with plastic but the sidewalk and driveway, as well. They moved all the dirt away from the house so they could paint below the top of the dirt, then they moved the dirt back. Who does that? Prepping and painting our two story house took four days. I should mention that I had seen Alex's crew in the neighborhood prepping other homes and noticed what a thorough job they did compared to the other contractors. I then looked him up on Angie's list and read every one of the glowing reviews. When we compare our house to the other houses in the neighborhood our paint job looks so much better. The color is deep and rich and there aren't any light streaks. The paint doesn't look watered down. The underside of the patio cover looks better than new and our rusted wrought iron fence looks great. Our metal gate and metal door that had started rusting look brand new. We thought the peeling fascia would have to be replaced but it looks fantastic. We are so happy we chose Alex for the job and he was worth every penny. You don't find contractors like Alex anymore. Most of them are in a hurry to get the job done. They patch, they spray and in one day the house is done. Alex pays attention to detail, has a strong work ethic and really cares about his reputation. His crew shows up to do the job, he calls and lets you know what's going on and you can call him anytime if you have questions. If you want a nice job don't bother calling anyone else because it will be a waste of your time. He's the only one we will ever use to paint anything again!

After receiving an estimate with description of work, Alex and George (brothers) matched the colors to the existing house colors so that I could start the Homeowner's Assoc. approval process. They were patient and stayed in contact with me until I received approval. The crew was conscientious and kept me informed of their daily progress always cleaning up at the end of the day. We are happy with their quality work and are glad to have found Alex McMillan Painting!

I couldn't be happier with the painting of my house - it was a huge job because it is a 2800 sq foot home that hadn't been painted in over 15 years but the crew made it look new again. They were efficient and got the job done quickly in 110 heat! My biggest worries with getting my house painted was the mess during the painting process and damage to my plants up against the house walls. After they finished you couldn't even tell that a massive paint job occurred and there was no harm to any of my plants. They weren't my cheapest bid but I'm glad this group painted my house. In a few months I need to paint the interior of my home and this company will be doing it.

They were great. Very polite, showed up on time, painted a very large house in 4.5 days. Everything was clean when they were finished and the house looks amazing. I will be recommending them to everyone I know. My house and fence looks like new! It's just great!

called for an estimate and was able to come out the same day and schedule for paint job and repairs on stucco within a few days. power wash the house repaired the stucco by the front entryway. made the facia look brand new on the house.apply 2 coats of paint. very professional and responsive attention to detail. his work crew is absolutely fabulous to work withand very knowledgeable with colors. the house looks brand now for being 12 years old thank you very much.

As stated above, I recently had some patio roof work done and needed an estimate for some exterior paint work (and a small amount of interior painting as well). While he didn't give me an estimate, I appreciate that he came to my house and was upfront and honest with me. Some companies don't even give you the common courtesy of a phone back, but Alex was very professional and honest and gave me some tips and pointers regarding my project needs. He showed up on time to my residence and was very professional. After he disclosed that he wouldn't offer an estimate because he felt the job was too small to offer a competitive offer, I showed him my best estimate and he gave me some tips and questions I should be asking. i used some of his suggestions and was able to upgrade my paint options and also reduced my estimate slightly. Thanks Alex! In short, I am a little disappointed that he didn't submit a bid, but I would still recommend him to anyone who has a big painting project coming up. At no point did I feel like he was trying to snow job me and was always upfront, professional and courteous. I anticipate that I will have a big paint job in my future in about five years and will definitely consider his company for the job. You should too!

Alex's crew was amazing. They were incredibly attentive to detail. After power-washing and raking back the rocks from the foundation, they scraped old paint, repaired stucco, filled nail holes, and painted the fascia with elastomeric paint. They spent a lot of time prepping and did not cut corners, even though I have 38 windows in my house (a lot of them are small); I was amazed at the straight lines they could achieve even though painting on stucco. Alex used 100% acrylic paint (i.e. not watered-down paint) in low sheen, and the results were amazing...a complete turn-around from the previous paint job. I feel like I have new house! Alex helped me choose paint colors which coordinated with my roof, windows, and landscaping materials. He even stained the beams a coordinating color and brought my front door back to life with stain (it faces the sun). Wow! To top it all off, in the middle of the project a bee colony decided to move in to one of the house beams....the painters' work was delayed while an exterminator came and the bees died off, but they never uttered one word of complaint. The crew stayed the extra time needed to finish the job right. Everyone was pleasant to work with, responsive to my (frequent) question and requests, and went the extra-mile. Started on time, painted outside first then move to interior of house, multiple workers, 4 full days to complete.

I utilized AngiesList to get 4 bids for this job and another bid through a friend referral. Out of these 5 total bids, Alex McMillan's came in slightly higher than my middle bid. He wasn't the cheapest but I did get a sense through our initial bid meeting that he knew what he was talking about as he described in detail what he would do. I was satisfied with what he said he would do and extremely satisfied with the results. Took them about 7 days to complete the job of which 4-5 days were devoted just to prep. Crew usually worked between 9:00AM and 5:30PM. Worked one Saturday and stayed until 7:00PM on last day to complete the job. A dedicated and hard working group for sure! My wife and I are extremely happy. Alex's crew did an outstanding job with their attention to detail, hard work and commitment to a quality job. In my younger days, I painted for a living with my brother who still does contract work in California. My brother is/was a freak for detail and instilled this ethic in me with regards to painting for quality. Point here is that I believe Alex McMillan and his crew did our job with the same eye towards quality. I would not hesitate to use them again and plan to use them in my property management business in near future.

I obtained painting estimates from several contractors between Nov 2012 and March 2013 including Alex McMillan Painting. I was unable to follow thru with the project until recently and I called Alex to request a review of his bid. Many months had passed since his original estimate and in that time I had made specific color selections and determined which paint products I preferred. Alex returned my call - I had left a voice message late Friday afternoon - within 24 hours. During that conversation, he recalled viewing my house and I updated him on my decisions. Since he was not in his office, he was unable to check his schedule as to when he could come to view, but I did ask him to make it as soon as possible. Alex delivered on my request in every possible way. He rang my doorbell on the following Monday! He walked the property again, responded to my questions and concerns, and revised the estimate to include all my specifications. And best of all, since another customer had to reschedule their project, he was able start on my house right away. His crew were punctual, professional and dedicated. Because I had multiple colors, the prep and taping work took additional time. Alex both supervised and directly participated in the painting. The project took four days and went very well. Every evening the workers took great care to cleanup discarded materials. At the end on Saturday, I found a couple of things that needed attention. I called Alex and explained my concerns. He was very gracious and came over bright and early Monday morning and personally took care of the fixes I needed. My house looks wonderful!! Alex is a dedicated professional who provides great communication, values customer service, and prides himself in excellence of his work.

alex was very informative about the colors of the paints and helped us decide what would be better. painters were very punctual. arrived on time everyday. did a beautiful job on paining our house. it looks like a brand new house. we are very pleased and would recommend him. he is not the cheapest but was in the middle of all the painters we contacted regarding pricing. you DO get what you pay for i.e. quality work.. b.w. gilbert

Alex gave us a very fair price after inspecting the condition of the house. He was able to schedule us for a 3.5-day job withiin 2 weeks time. His crew of 2-3 men was very competent. They took care to cover all hard surfaces & plants with plastic sheeting before they began painting. They did an outstanding job of taping off the many many pop-outs around the windows & doors, resulting in sharp clean lines of demarkation. They showed up on time every day & worked until late afternoon. The results speak for themselves in how great the paint job looks!

I have to start by saying I am a very picky and critical consumer. I do not give out kudos or praise unless well earned. My 19 year old home was in need of a good paint job. The exterior had significant paint peeling as a result of poor prep work and low cost paint jobs in the past. This time, I decided to hire the best and proceeded to get five quotes from the top Angie's List painters in my area. Alex was one notch from the top but talked like he really know what my house needed so I hired him. The job was awarded about 2.5 weeks prior to start. We agreed on a start date and Alex and his crew showed up in the middle of that day after completing the prior job. By his estimate, the job was to take 3.5-4 days with a 4 man crew, which was longer than average given the amount of prep needed. I was disappointed to learn the the crew would only be 3 strong since one of his workers had family issues to deal with. The job ended up taking 5.5 days but let me tell you this was the result of doing the job right versus cutting corners, which many contractors would. Everything completed was top notch - the scraping and prep work was considerable on not only the house, but also the block fence and garage. The paint was expertly applied by his lead painter - there was no overspray anywhere, even on our new fake grass, which a prior painter had wrecked. The job site was generally clean each night and upon completion. Alex did not collect a single dime until the job was completed to my satisfaction. He left us good amounts of all paints, except the trim which was used up, so Alex graciously agreed to get us another gallon which is expected in the next day or two. Neighbors have all complimented how well my house looks and I am quick to use Alex as a reference. Note that he is by no means to cheapest guy in town - but he does the job the right way and if it holds up as expected, this is by far cheaper than multiple poor paint jobs. Job well done!!

I called Alex and he came out quickly to provide an estimate. While his estimate was double the price of other estimates I had gotten, I was swayed by his desire and passion to do a quality job. Alex was very good at communicating the schedule and was quick to update me when the start of my project was delayed due to weather impacting the previous job. The exterior of my old house was in bad shape with paint chipping/peeling, significant water damage to the MDF panels, and bowing panels. Alex's crew came in an power washed, prepped the surfaces very thoroughly, including a ton of caulking, and primering. They paid close attention to the eaves and the fascia boards, as well as to the bottom edges of the MDF panels, with water barrier protection and smoothing agents. All of that prep work was followed up with excellent exterior paint application. The crew worked quickly, diligently, and courteously. They cleaned up after themselves very well at the conclusion of the project. I am extrememly satisfied with the job Alex's crew did. It's like I have a new house! I highly recommend Alex McMillan Painting!

From the beginning everything went according to plan. George was prompt to return our call for an estimate. When the colors were selected and approved by the HOA, we signed the contract. He and his crew began the project about two weeks later as promised. They used quality products (Dunn Edwards Paint with low sheen). George suggested the low sheen paint as better on stucco and it looks great. The crew spent the first and part of the second days prepping the house (patching the cracks and preparing the base wall with a special solution to prevent the paint from cracking and falling away. The patch work was very professional. They used a special stucco paste that covered so well you could not detect the lines when painted. The crew patched a spot that was very rough where we had the removed house numbers. They matched it perfectly to the surrounding stucco. Beautiful! The crew were prompt, courteous, and cleaned the work site well. They worked steadily and were thorough. George came on site each day. George honored the Angie's List coupon, and we received an excellent job for a great price. Thank you all.

Overall, it went very well. George's crew was very professional and worked hard to get things right. I was very impressed with them. George was a hoot to work with. He is a great individual. His attention to detail was amazing. Any time I anticipated something was missed, it was taken care of before I could say anything. At one time or another, I had three generations of McMillians working on the paint job. They all seemed very dedicated. The only negatives are that there was some overspray in some spots few will see. If it had been a big deal, I'd have called George and I know he would have taken care of it. Also there is a hot tub in my back yard and I saqw a couple of footprints on the cover. If there had been any damage, I'd have approached George, but the cover is just fine. No problem. If you hire Alex or George, and I suggest you do, I'd just tell them in advance if there is anything they need to stay away from or off of. I would have been happy with any of the paint contractors I had bids from (Arizona Painting Company, Conklin Painting). They were all very professional and great to deal with. You can't miss with any of them, but it was a pleasure to work with George.

He came out and took pictures of the roof. He was very transparaent and did a good job. Overall the projects took about 2 or 3 days. I had received other quotes for the roofing job and he was about $1000 less than what was quoted.

George came over and quoted verbally what he would do and at how much it would cost. He was punctual, professional and very respectful. He said he wasn't the type to play games with pricing and would do what he said with no "hidden costs or surprises". We took George at his word. He returned a week later at our request to do a final walk-through and sign a contract prior to starting. George showed up two days later with his crew and started the project. As George got into the touch-up painting process, he was not pleased with the way the paints were matching up and therefore took it upon himself to re-paint the whole wall. He re-painted the entire North, South, and Eastern walls of our home - which wasn't in the contract. He asked for nothing additional for his troubles. The entire project was done in two days and looks beautiful. George is wonderful to work with, as is his grandson, Adam. Thanks guys!
