Air Command

Do Not Use!!!! They were hired to come out and fix a noise in the attic from the air handler. They came out and said the AC units needed to be cleaned and that will take care of the noise. I asked how much and he said $300. 20 minutes later when he called for payment he said it was $600. When I questioned it he said you have 2 units so $300 each. He NEVER said that initially. I reluctantly paid it. He left and the noise came back. So much for my $600 cleaning to correct the problem. He came back 2 or 3 times and could never figure it out. Tried to say it was coming from the refrigerator which it clearly was not. Had another company come out and in about 1-2 minutes they saw the problem, there was a hose or line hitting something with the air handler and it was fixed and noise never came back. These folks are just trying to charge you for things you don't need and don't do anything! So sad!!!

The installed Day and Night unit was insanely loud both inside and outside our home. [*** Link removed ***] Keith tried to blame me for the unit's excessive noise because our return was only 18" in diameter and the unit requires 20". I reminded him the guy from Parker and Sons said that we needed to install a second return. Keith claimed I never told him that. False. He then told me it would be an additional $1000 to install a second return. The new return he installed sounded like foil flapping in the wind. I asked him to reach up into the return and tape down the flapping duct. He said, "No." and that we would get used to the noise and to just turn up our TV! I then sent him a second video the following morning showing how incredibly loud the unit was. I asked what his plans for our laundry room was, because the room was still not getting adequate air, and as you'll see in the attached contract it was one of our primary concerns. He tried to charge additional $500 to attach the laundry room duct work to the plenum, which was originally agreed upon in our contract. Luckily I had him add items to our contract. He tried to get us to sign one that was almost blank before hiring him. We then had an APS energy audit and you'll see the mess he left our ductwork in: [*** Link removed ***] 1. The front of the plenum isn't connected 2. The furnace exhaust isn't connected and is spewing carbon monoxide into our attic 3. Can't prove that he knocked our water heater exhaust off, but he certainly chose not to tell us about it and puts my family at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning 4. Laundry room doesn't get adequate air and his defense is that he put a new register on the ceiling! 5. He didn't fix any of the leaks we paid him to fix 6. He left the dining room ductwork disconnected 7. He didn't seal the living room return 8.Leaks around furnace platform 9. All around rude jerk who is dishonest

Initial assessment of needed repairs resulted in a written quote of $490. Over 2 weeks later when the contractor returned to complete the repairs, he incorrectly installed the replacement parts (coil not mounted level, distribution line restricted due to shoddy brazing, fan motor run cap left dangling in space in cardboard box, exterior covers left unsecured) which put strain on the system resulting in not only a failed attempt at repair, but a total system failure which then required complete replacement (at a cost of $5,200 to me). His follow up cost quote ballooned to $1,965 with no explanation of the increase. When confronted, the owner Keith Kaminsky hung up the phone on me and responded with the following verbatim texts: "As we speak I am putting a lien on your house and if you post any f*cking bullsh*t about me I am coming after you with my lawyer....I'm gonna sue you for court cost and my lawyer as well ...I'm gonna sue you And also busy end of the day a lien will be placed on your hand house mechanical lien can't be sold till paid...f*ck you with all due respect I'm sure your dad didn't raise you to be a scumbag". I was a repeat customer of his that had referred him out to many other people, this is how he treated me. He also threatened to come to my house and take his parts back without my permission to enter my property. PLEASE go elsewhere for your A/C needs.

I called Landmark Home Warranty because the temperature differential was 10 degrees on my AC unit and they sent a service provider from Air Command for a $65 service charge. The service provider came by on Wednesday, then I called Air Command on Friday since they did not call me and tell me the results of the service call. They told me that my 2 ton and 3 ton units were undersized for the 2600 square foot house that was built 7 years ago and recommended that I buy new AC units for 15,000 to 20,000 dollars and have them installed. I then called Landmark and let them know I was going to call another service provider and I asked if I could get my $65 service fee reimbursed if the other service technician found a problem that the original did not find and I was told that I could. So, I called George Brazil and they told me the freon was low, recharged it and then I got a 20 degree temperature differential and was charged $300 for the service. Next, I called Landmark to get my $65 service fee reimbursed, when I spoke to landmark they told me that $65 dollars fee was to have Air command come out and (mis)diagnose the issue and that it was non-refundable. What should have happened, was that I should have gotten the service fee back, Landmark should have contacted Air Command and been reimbursed and Air Command should have spoken to the technician and made sure he was performing basic troubleshooting like checking to see if the freon is low.

Keith was the technician that serviced the property. My property manager was impressed because Keith arrived on time, in a clean company labeled van and a clean uniform. I was impressed because the Air Command representative reported back to me their findings. Their professionalism was top notch and the communication was amazing. I also liked when I looked them up, that they are providers for the APS and SRP program. That is a huge bonus for me.

In May the unit was not cooling. American Home Shield had Air Command come back out to repair the problem. Over a period of 3 months he replaced quite a few parts and the unit still did not work. American Home Shield gave him authorization to replace the unit. The new unit made so much noise we had another HVAC company diagnose the problems. Apparently a vibration dampener was not installed and the unit was placed on a steel frame so the vibration was transmitted even better into our home. And the roof was left in a state that when it rained the next day the roof leaked. We expected to have a roofing company repair the roof, but he told us he did a temporary fix. I guess temporary to him meant 1 hour. The first time he came out in December of 2013 he told the warranty company that the fault was with us the homeowner because we had the wrong size breaker installed in the main panel. That is the same breaker that has been installed since the house was built about 30 years ago. Because I have been an electrician since 1963 I think I know a little more about the problem than he did. I had to take him to school on why the breaker was sized the way it was and how the compressor was protected in two other ways. Would I use that company again? NEVER In fact I will not even let him on our property.

I have used this company for 3 years or so now. I never walked away without a big bill for routine maintenance. Maybe it was needed, I'm no expert, but I was suspicious. My AC stopped blowing cool air last night. I called and left a message and called and left another message this morning. The finally got back to me and said they couldn't come out until Monday. So much for the 24HR emergency service stated on their site. Oh, and did I mention the came just a month and a 1/2 earlier to perform maintenance and said it was good for the summer. I will no longer be giving them my business.

Keith was very kind and helped us find the best deal. He really explained everything that was going on and the reasoning behind the way he was doing it. He even remembered us as a past customer from a couple of years prior. They worked with us on payments. His office staff helped with the two payments and confirmed with us exact amounts and that they received the final installment. The installation went very well and they were clean. They made sure that they didn't track anything inside.

They came out on several different occasions, but they were unable to diagnose the problem.

Home warranty company assigned Air Command. Heater was out so air command promptly came out to fix. Not sure of specific tech on first visit, but he got working only to have the fix short out a week later. Second fix lasted 31 days before heater died on coldest day of year to date. Air Command has agreed to take a look and fix items to see which ones are related or new. I did bring out another heating and AC company that suggested that past work could have been more complete. Still a work in progess, so will give Air Command the opportuity to fix right and then update this issue from there. (Dated 1/4/2011)
