Once we signed the contract, Energy Roofers went to work within a couple of weeks. The crew was as respectful and accommodating as any contractor crew I have known. Big plus +++. The majority of the work was completed within a week. The new roof very noticeably holds interior heat much better, controls water runoff probably as good as it gets, and we are very happy with our roof , the added insulative value it adds, the protection it provides our home, and the benefits of its features for controlling where water goes! The only reason I have not given all A's across the board is that Energy Roofers is a small company and as so is different, more personal, and also more difficult to communicate with as they are just busy. But if patience and trust are in you - then this business is way better in my view than the large companies - and in the end I think more responsive about things that mattered to us. One of the features installed did not perform as intended, and Monte kept his work and corrected the problem and it is wonderfully functional doing what a roof should and can do! They were one solution for several issues that the large companies wanted me to involve multiple contractors, Energy Roofers made it simple and did it all, and well.
Description of Work: Our roof was ~37 years old, had leaks in the past and needed to be brought up to the best it could be as solar was to be installed after completion. Monte from Energy Roofers made himself available to hear want I wanted in the way of features and attributes: adding R value above deck, direct water for future collection, and be the last roof the house would need with minimal maintenance. He came up with a plan, we discussed some of the aspects and finalized the plan over a few weeks and made a contract. The plan indeed added R value above deck, included features to direct water on rake edges into gutters, allowed for minimal maintenance, replaced all the fascia boards, replaced any decking that showed any signs of water damage or other damage, removed previous roofing materials for us, provided the highest heat reflectivity available. So a big job.

We were happy with the initial installation of the roof itself, but the skylight installation was sloppy and the hole cutouts were so bad that the finish work could not be completed. The flashing work around the fireplace chimney was so sloppy that gaps were left in excess of an inch! The company cleaned up after the job. After several calls, the company brought out a carpenter to clean up the sloppy work of the skylights, but charged us extra at the end of the day! ($500.00). That was a shock! That took only a month (because the skylight were leaking buckets of water)! A month for them was FAST. As far as the leaking from the flashing - that took two years, but still leaks and continues to leak now after three years. The problem has been getting them to come back to correct the problem. They seem like such nice people, and they eventually may stand behind their work, (not yet fully) but they don't show up for appointments they make and the relationship is now hostile, after making complaints with the BBB. They still have not returned property that belongs to us (a shade for one of the skylights). The solar skylight shade is valued at $365.00. Energy Roofers still has our skylight shade in their possession! We want our property back - it does not belong to them. We don't know why they are keeping it .As far as we are concerned, a company is only as reputable to the degree as they are willing to stand behind their work. It has been a sad experience for us. Our complaint is on line with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). All it ever would have taken is a willingness to show up when they said they would and to try and fix the problem. We believe some of this may be a problem with their office person. She is the one who made the appointments. Maybe the working staff never even knew about it. . .
Description of Work: Full replacement of roof, to include removal of old roof, installation of new sheathing, insulation and installation of new skylights.

Monte was pleasant and helpful, but I selected a different roofer who came across more professionally--providing a more thorough explanation of what my options were, what needed to be done, and how he would do it. All of the roofers I spoke with said they'd send me an estimate by email, but either I never received an estimate from Energy Roofers or I accidentally deleted it with the spam even though I thought I was being careful to search the spam for the estimates from unrecognized addresses. Another roofer whom I didn't choose called to make sure I'd received their estimate; Energy Roofers didn't bother.
Description of Work: I needed to have a new asphalt shingle roof for home my and wanted advice on my options (e.g., whether to replace or install the new roof on top), what would be needed to be done, and an estimate on the cost.
