Very prompt professional service. He examined the entire roof, not just the area that was leaking, and fixed several small problem areas. Quoted a reasonable price compared to others, and completed the work with no fuss and no mess. I have deliberately waited until we had a couple of rain storms before providing this review. And everything appears to be leak proof,

He first came out and did an estimate. Walked the entire roof and took pictures of all the broken and missing tiles. Prepared estimate for approval. Work was scheduled for a couple of weeks later. Date set and he called when on his way. Several days later after the job was finished I found another broken tile outside one of the windows. It was a slight crack that was easy to miss. He returned a few days later and replaced the additional tile. Would definitely recommend and use again in the future.

Crew spent 1/2 day doing repair work including replacement of a truss, tiles, and caulking repair. Very happy with the job!

Positive experience with Above & Beyond Roofing, even though I am requesting a credit! After noticing a broken rake tile on my roof, I purchased the $149 Tile Roof Tune-Up from Angie's List. Glenn Smoker (owner of Above & Beyond Roofing) came to my home and I asked him what it would cost to replace all 40 tiles with barrel trim and securely attached to facia --- estimate was fair ($500, after subtracting $150 from Angie purchase price). I've since had two other estimates from local residential roofing companies and they said $500 was a reasonable quote to replace 40 terracotta tiles and their quotes were similar. When I asked how I could cut cost, the other two roof estimator's told me I minimally needed one replacement at this time. They recommended that since this is such a small fix that I contact a handyman for this small job, which would cost much less than $149. I asked Glenn if he would do this small job for less (replace tile and secure some of the other tiles -- up to $149 value). He could; however, it would be an additional $50 to the $149. I would prefer a $149 Angie credit and contact a handyman.

Glenn called at 9:30 on a Sun night to set up the appointment, that's not okay. Then he was evasive about the time he "may be able to get to me". I felt like he was doing me a favor. I had to rearrange my schedule to accommodate him. Apparently he's very busy. When he did the check he came in and my hubby took a break from his work to hear about our roof. Glenn talked ceaselessly about nothing for a while. My husband finally had to tell him he was in a hurry. Then came the "quote". There didn't seem to be a clear amount. He himmed and hawed for a while then settled on $550. We were concerned about our roof so we said we'd get the work done. Glenn couldn't commit to a day and time - again. He called with a day and the time was up in the air. I thought about it and realized I don't trust this company, so I called and cancelled. Glenn was very pushy about how he had me on his schedule and proceeded to want to go on. I cut him off and said good-bye. I was really just interested in an inspection and having the seals done. After a little research I learned there are lots of roofers in the valley that do free estimates.

On the day he was supposed to come by to look at my roof, he didn't show up. I called him and he apologized for not letting me know that he couldn't make it. He then showed up the next week and wrote me an estimate which I agreed to and paid half down for. He said he'd have his team out either Thursday or Friday (it was a Wednesday) or sometime the following week. The next week came and went and I never heard from him. I called him and he said they have been tied up on a big job and all the rain we'd had recently had slowed them down. Another week went by and he called me on Friday and said they would be there on Saturday. That was fine, except I was out of town that weekend but agreed to let him do it while I was gone because his crew was working in the area that weekend. One issue I had was that one of our trees had grown up under one of our tiles and pushed it off. He said he'd have his crew trim that part of the tree off. They didn't. A few days after I got home, he called me to ask if I'd sent the rest of the payment? I said I hadn't, as I assumed he would be sending me an invoice for the work done or would have left one. He asked me to just find the estimate he wrote me for what was done. I asked if he'd email me a request for payment and where to send it to. He said he would, but never did. I found the invoice and sent him a check for the balance. I think the work was done, but without being here, I just don't know if everything on the list was done or not. I'm assuming so, but since the tree didn't get pruned back, it's hard to say if anything else got missed or not. I do see some seals on some tiles, so I know some work got done, just not what specifically was done since they didn't leave me a finalized work order/invoice.

He just did the service I bought from Angie's list. Only a few minor issues were found.

I gave Glenn & Company a "B" because I agree with some of the other posters: if you are overwhelmed with calls from an Angie's List deal, get help. Communication and service seemed delayed to me. Plus, we did have a misunderstanding about what was being done. That said, Glenn is a nice chap and I know he wants to put his best foot forward and be fair with people. To his credit, he did call me today (that's why I waited to post a review) to discuss my patio roof and the misunderstanding. I believe I got a good deal but I agree with other posters, Glenn should not tell clients about the deal with Angie's List--that's not what we want to hear and it should remain hidden. It's difficult to grade the service because I live in a two-story house and cannot do a visual inspection. I would call Glenn again--as I plan to do in two years--for the next roof inspection.

As far as I can tell, it went well. Not going onto the roof, I'm assuming he did what he told me he would do. He caulked 25 tiles back into place and rest(nailed) 2 trim tiles. He also gave me a quote to do additional repairs. He was friendly and seemed to know what he was doing.

Good but doesn't take credit cards currently.

He showed up days after he said he would, first thing he tried to do is sell me a new roof, s title,. The house is 18 years old. Told me we need more tile to replace than I have which i understood for the cracked title,. Did not do any sealing what so ever. I had to call him two weeks later to listen to his excuses of being to busy. Still nothing done and out the funds. FFFFFFFFFF

Fantastic service. Came out and provided a quote. Was very detailed in his report with pictures of the problem areas. Very honest and came across as reputable and his service and people lived up to that impression.

The day we had scheduled I had an emergency so I canceled with plenty of warning. I ended up rescheduling it and on the day we rescheduled for I waiting around all day and they never showed up. I have not heard from them since. I have not tried contacting them because I’m waiting to hear from them. We have had a lot of rain and he’s a roofer, but it’s been 4 days and I haven’t heard anything from him.

He called 3 weeks later and I told him all he had to do was to call me sooner and let me know that he was too busy to honor his deal in a prompts fashion. I would have been disappointed but I would have understood...sometimes you "bite off more than you can choose". When I told him all he had to do was to give me a call he started arguing that I didn't understand how busy he was. I again told him he should have called to let me know this. He continued to argue that I shouldn't give him a bad review...I ended up hanging up on him....he just kept going on and on.

I first called him to make an appointment, as he never contacted us. I told him we had a tile roof and that we have a visible leak in one area and that we would like a whole roof inspection (which is what we thought we were paying the $149 for ) to see if there were any other problems. About a week later he came to my house, immediately asked me how old the roof was. When we told him we just had it totally re done in 2014 he told me he really was only interested in doing a whole new roof. He almost just left then, but I asked him if he could look at where my roof was leaking (I told him I thought it was flashing around the chimney)and he did look at that area from inside the house, said it was probably flashing and that he wouldn't look on the roof, because it was tile and he wouldn't walk on it. Then he said he would email us a proposal to have the flashing fixed (but never sent anything to us). He complained to my husband that since he only got $50 to come to our house, he was finished with his "service call". We estimate he was here about 20 minutes, and since he didn't go on the roof, never did any work at all. This is my first experience using your service, I just signed up last month. I have had my whole house renovated in 2003-2004 and have been through many horrible nightmares- so I decided to sign up with you...I hope that was a good decision.

When I bought this service we were in the process of closing on a house. I was not real sure that the house would close on the exact date that it was scheduled for so I set up the work for Aug 26, 27, or the 28. When Glen called me I explained the situation and he was fine with that. He told me that he would call on Aug 23rd to set a exact time and date. He called me on the 26th and told me that he would drop by sometime that afternoon. He did not show up. He did not call. He called me the next day from the wrong address. I explained that when we joined Angie's List that we had been renting a house and that I wanted the work done at the house that we were buying. He told me that he would be out the morning of the 28th. I waited all day and at approximately 4 pm he called and said that he would come out on the 29th for sure. He did finally show up several hours late. I was just disgusted with the service, the excuses and the lack of work done (or that he was willing to do for your special). Now I don't really trust him to come do the work that I have already paid for because he didn't seem like he would do what I have already paid for without the additional work. He even complained that Angie's List actually keeps $100 and he only makes $49 on this deal. I would really just like to get my money back. I felt totally ripped off. I had hoped that by joining Angie's List that contractors that do business like this would be weeded out.

Reached out to Ken before purchasing to ensure he serviced our area. He said yes. Purchased the tile roof tune-up, didn't hear anything. I reached out a few days later, asking him when we could schedule. He said he would call back by next day. Four days later, didn't hear anything. Understand busy with all the "Big Deal" purchases, but if cannot handle the volume then shouldn't offer the deal.

The owner, Glenn, contacted me promptly. He came and did the work himself in a timely, professional manner. He was very friendly and upfront and was good about answering any questions I had. The deal was for $149 to fix tiles, but some additional work needed to be done around the caps and gas flues, where there was mortar cracking, which was an additional $175. That was okay with me, so I had him do the additional work. He did take pictures with his phone to show me what was going on and he did point out that the the foam under the tile (the roof is now 18 years old) needs replacing in a few years to avoid possible leaks. He acknowledged it is a high expense and did not use any high-pressure tactics, which I appreciated. He completed the repair job in about an hour and gave me, at my request, pricing for re-roofing. I thought he did a fine job and that it all went very well.

Overall, I was very pleased with this provider. Glenn was able to provide an estimate for my roof repair quickly, and I was impressed by his honesty. Whereas a roofer could have easily told me that I needed a new roof, he was honest in his assessment of the repairs needed, and even went so far as suggesting what could wait until later, if I wanted to hold off on the gable repairs. The provider's cost was at or below the estimates I received from other builders. My only criticism would be the provider's taking a little long to provide me with a written estimate, and only giving me a day's notice before comming out for the repair. The property was a rental, and I needed to give the tenants notice of the roofers comming out, which I had told the provider. That being said, I would use this company again. Glenn was pleasant, the work was done well, they cleaned up after themselves, and the price was very affordable.

His workers were punctual and polite. After the messy job of removing rocks from the surface they cleaned the outside grounds before leaving each day. I was quite satisfied with the personable Mr. Glenn Smoker and the quality of work performed.

We were only in Arizona for a week and noticed that we had 3 tiles missing from the roof. We called Above and Beyond Roofing and explained that we were only in town for an additional 4 days. They sent someone out the very next day. The gentleman who came to our home was very professional and not only did he replace the missing tiles, he did an inspection of the entire roof and found several other tiles that were loose, which he was able to fix that same visit.

All went extremely smoothly. The job required two days. The owner and the crew were all professional and polite throughout the entire job. They left the property in immaculate condition, exactly the way they found it.

This team was quick, efficient and clean. It started with Glenn, unlike the other vendors, who took the time explain in detail what had to be done and why. It was not sales pitch. He educated me so I could make an informed decision, whether I used him or not. Very professional. And his crew was the same. They arrived early the first day and removed tiles in one section, determined whether repairs were needed, did the repairs, and then sealed the roof and replaced tiles. This went on for 6 days. Each day, the workmen made a point of limiting the amount of debris around the house. If it were not for the hammering, one would not know they were working. What was impressive was the professionalism of this team. At the end of each day, they cleaned the area, put away tools and hauled away the trash and debris.
