+ -1 moreHe's wonderful. We've had people come buy and ask us. He was very professional and clean-cut. He had really good workers with him and they would clean up at the end of the day. They had to come at 5:30 in the morning because it was hot. He's very, very talented.

Description of Work: We called this company (George Martinez) and asked them to bid on a project. We had to call three times to get a response. Mr. Martinez said he would be over to do the bid on Tuesday May 13 and that he would call us over the weekend to tell us exactly what time he would be here. He did not call. We texted (his preferred method of contact) him Monday night asking for a time. He did not return the call until late afternoon Tuesday and said he could be here at 6:00. By then we had other plans and asked him to come the next morning. He never showed up or called back after the late afternoon call on Tuesday. In our opinion this is very poor business practices and we would not attempt to do business with him again.

+ 1 moreThey started work on 12/27/12 and completed on 1/9/13. The were here promptly at 7:15am and worked until about 4:15 each day. They did a great job and everything went smoothly.
Description of Work: We removed & replaced rock in both the front & back yards, we added mounds of dirt to the front yard. We replaced drip systems in front & back, we removed a small orange tree in the back & we removed a 10x20 concrete patio & replaced it with a paver patio that is about 30x30 and also changed the posts on my patio from old metal posts to pine vigas which look amazing.

+ 1 moreWe contacted George Martinez based upon good reviews in Angie's list. He was available, promptly showed up as arranged, profesional and courteous. GM listened to our desires for the work in our yard and with our fences. We intended to do some more hardscaping but altered our plans due to budget restrictions. GM made a very professional visual (on the computer) depiction of how the new space would look. The suggestions of going a bit further than we originally intended not only made sense but were the primary reason we went overbudget with the proposal. George was very gracious with our scaling back and postponing part of the project; now doing only the fence work and not the patio/landscaping hardscaping work. We will revisit the other part of the project in the next year as funds allow. The crews showed up on time, did the work professionally, cleaned up all landscaping/ rocks, removed any debris etc. All done with professionalism and good cheer. I even talked George into painting the new walls which apprently wasn't figured into the price of the project. I don't know why it wasn't included but, bottom line.... it got done and done well! I will be contacting Siglo when we have the funding together for the finish of our project next year!
Description of Work: Extend block-wall returns on both sides of home. Install new gate on one side. Move gate to new return on one side. Raise pool equipment block enclosure and top with Flagstone. Paint all new masonry. Stain new and old gate.

+ 0 moreGeorge came out after several missed opportunities to meet. Our schedules did not seem to match up well, so I don't see this as a fault in any way. Upon arrival, we looked over materials that I had previously purchased to supply another landscaper and I explained a plan that I had in mind. George pitched additional work to complete the rest of the yard, which was completely unfinished, bare soil. I explained that I was only interested in the paver work but was willing to accept a separate cost for anything additional. He pitched several high dollar add-ons like a firepit or water feature, and told me about other high-cost jobs he has previously completed and showed me photos for evidence on his phone. In the end I was satisfied with our discussion, but George failed to deliver. I never received any other communication from him after our meeting. I believe he or someone from his company stopped by to deliver something because I got one of their cards in my door one day about two weeks after our discussion. A meeting was not arranged, so I was not available.

+ 1 moreOverall, it went beautifully. George started out by providing me with 3-D conceptual plans after interviewing me for my expectations. Once I agreed on the overall concept, George and his crew got to work quickly and the whole project was done in about 2 weeks. He willingly added and subtracted from the original design when I changed my mind mid-project. He worked around the schedule of the house painters and gutter people and provided advise as to where to install the downspouts. He advised me as to what plants he thought would work best, cautioned me when my choices might prove problematic in the future (mesquite might get too big for the yard, Trevetia might suffer frost damage) but went along with my decisions once I understood the possible future problems. Before:
Description of Work: Front Yard:Removed most of the existing uninteresting plants from the front yard and replaced with Gold Star yellow bells, Bells of Fire gold bells, Mexican Bird of Paradise, drwaf Bottlebrush and Volcano Lantana. Removed side concrete aprons and replaced with pavers, extending to the front door and to the side gate. Created a sweeping design with pavers in the front yard which separated the recycled original rock from the old front yard and new contrasting rock. Back Yard:Removed 4 agave from backyard. Added pavers on top of a concrete rectangular covered patio and extended the pavers in two directions to create a larger patio area. Removed existing rock and replaced it with smaller diameter rock and two puddles of artificial turf. Created privacy by adding white trellis panels along the block wall fence. Installed a metal "cactus garden" and interplanted purple Lantana. Added lots of color with white Oleander trees, a yellow Thevetia, deep pink Bougainvillia, blue Skyflower Vine, a Meyer lemon tree, a Chiean mesquite for shade, and a Mediterranean Fan Palm group for interest. All over: Replaced old dying irrigation system with new zones, valves, and tubing. Addressed drainage issues in regards to the soil sloping properly away from the home. Insured new landscape would drain away from the home.

Description of Work: About 4 weeks after we initially contacted the company, Rick finally came by to take measurements and conduct the priliminary consultation. Once he left our house, we never heard from him again. He was supposed to have given us a quote via email but we never saw it. He never called. He never attempted to reach out. It's okay though because we're starting our landscaping project this week and we're glad we're dealing with a much more professional company than this.If he didnt want to do the job for us, he could have said so. Dont just leave us hanging, Rick.

+ -1 moreGeorge and his crew did an excellent job. The area for the patio was leveled properly with appropriate drainage slope away from the house. Pavers were installed after the cement block wall was installed and stuccoed to match the house. Very pleased with the result and the professionalism of his crew. Powell came by on Sunday to pressure wash the parking area where they had accidently spilled a wheelbarrow of cement and that now looks perfect as well.
Description of Work: Installed approx 280 sq ft patio with pavers and a short 4' high wall.

+ 7 moreGeorge Martinez and Siglo did an amazing job transforming our back yard. We literally had an abundance of usable space that was being wasted by out-dated designs. He and his crew went above and beyond the estimated quote and didn't even ask for more when it was finished! Mr. Martinez spent many hours working with us before ever breaking ground to be sure that we were in love with the design. Throughout the process, he and his team continued to brainstorm and bring us new ideas as the yard was being transformed. Every time a new idea would come up, he would be sure to run it by us and explain it to us in person so we could visualize what was happening. If we did not agree, we simply moved forward without any pressure. Overall, it took just over 2 weeks and we were enjoying our new yard. It was like coming home to a new house the first few weeks. I would recommend Siglo to anyone who wants to have great work done by great people who make it affordable to have exactly what you want.
Description of Work: Siglo did the following work to our yard: Removed and leveled all surfaces around pool deck in entire yard. Layed pavers and added steps on each side of the area behind the pool against the west wall. Moved spa and re-ran electric for it. Added landscaping lights to all trees in the back yard and lights to each step for safety Installed a 3/4 paver drain along the house Added stucco over our brick backdrop on the pool to cover up the out-dated and ugly look Installed artificial turf around our citrus tree for our dogs to lay in Removed an unnecessary wall on North side of house to open up our yard even more! Re-coated the cooldeck for our pool and painted the stucco to match

George showed photo of other jobs he claimed he did. simple easy access backyard job of 424 square feet of pavers, his company was recommended by the paver supplier. huge mistake made by me wasting my time. our paver job is now complete by a different contractor at an very competitive price. his personal vehicle, a jeep was leaking engine fluids all over my driveway in front of my house, a big "no no"..

+ 1 moreWe had our first contact with Siglo on the SWAP MEET market where we got an excellent briefing on the work and material what could be used to improve our yard. We arranged for a meeting and talked and planed the layout which was send to us later by e-mail in a very precise drawing with the exact measurements and planning..One more meeting was held to make some little corrections and the contract was signed. Three days later the crew arrived and the removal of the old grass started which was a very dusty and dirty work. We left the house during most of the work . Lots of sand,gravel with tools was moved into the garden and we sure where thinking how can all that fit Two days later rolls of the artificial Turf and stepping stones arrived and got installed The day came when George the owner and his crew called us out to have a look , it was just like X-Mas . We could not believe our eyes what we saw , it was like a dream and we where afraid some one would wake us up and all was gone. One can really tell that he does his workmanship with his heart the way everything looked. All work was done in a perfect matter and all the area was cleaned up, nothing was left.
