Jakes Handyman Service

Description of Work: Hired Jake to install underground service on a short notice and he was there that afternoon and helped all throughout the night and then came back and finished the following night.

Description of Work: Bought an older solid home in need of some TLC. Hired Jake's Handyman service to remove stucco texture, retexture, paint interior walls, demo kitchen cabinets and update some electrical. Jake wrote up an estimate enumerating all the work we discussed initially. Within the first week, he needed more time to complete the job and a draw to pay his workers. This same scenario played out until all the money was gone and the work wasn't half complete. He kept promising he would get the job done. Then he started coming up with excuse after excuse for not returning to work. The trim paint job is horrendous. Trim on windows, crown molding and doors has over spray from the texture all over it. The boys never even dusted the windows off. They just painted over everything as it was. His "crew" was four teenage boys he swore to me were good workers that he would personally vouch for. They leaned interior doors up against exterior brick walls to spray rather than brush paint. Fortunately we stopped them before any further damage was done. Rarely was Jake ever there when I checked on progress at various times of the day. His help always told me I had "just missed him." We talked to Jake and reached a verbal agreement giving him more time and agreeing to up the original estimate by $800 which he submitted to us.
