All light fixtures have a maximum wattage limit. Higher wattage incandescent lamps create more heat and will trip the thermal protectors built in to some fixtures. LED or other low heat source type lamps can be installed to provide a brighter light source without creating a high level of heat.

I had a outdoor motion detector garage light that stopped working and my neighborhood has had a rash of car breakins, so I was anxious to get a new one installed as quickly as possible. I spoke to Bob on a Friday and got an appointment on the following Monday and had the work completed by the end of the day on Monday. They tried to save me some money by replacing the photocell but advised me to buy a new fixture just in case. It was not the photocell and unfortunately the fixture I had purchased mounted on the wall and I needed one that mounted on the eave. Jeremy discovered this very quickly, so I did not have to pay for a second service call. In fact, I ran into Jeremy at Lowe's a few minutes later and he helped me choose the fixture I needed. Bob then had him return to install the new fixture on the same day. All of the employees I had contact with were extremely courteous, professional and seemed to be determined to provide the very best service possible. Staley provided me service that is rare to find and I would highly recommend them!

WOW! Where do I start? First, I've lost track of how many visits these guys have made to my house and how many reviews I've written but again I must emphasize that these repeat visits are never because of issues with their previous work but every time we turn around, we are developing new electrical problems in this old house that was never up to code to begin with. Jeremy spent all of 1 day and part of another day before he finally could find the problem. Again, this wasn't from lack of competence but rather the oddity of my house. When he finally found the problem, we discovered we were probably within a hair of our house burning down. Once he finally figured out the entire problem, he quickly set about correcting the problem. He worked very late to get the problem corrected rather than leaving us without electricity in our main bathroom for another night. And as always Bob was easily accessible to answer questions throughout the process. As per normal, I told Jeremy I was sure I would see him soon. There are at least 3 rooms, he hasn't had to rewire yet. :)

Older homes have their rewards - but they can have their challenges as well. The concealed junction boxes that were discovered in your home can be dangerous. We were fortunate to have discovered them before more damage occurred. We were able to repair/replace the burnt connections and correct the wiring so no junctions were concealed. For any other Angie's List member - electrical safety is a serious matter. Losing power to any part of your house typically means a loose connection. A loose connection can heat up to the point that it becomes a fire hazard. If you notice power dropping to any device in your home, please get a qualified electrician out to review the issue.

Jeremy (as per usual) called to tell me he was on his way. He quickly diagnosed the problem (loose wires in an outlet) that affected a whole wall of outlets and switches. Fixed it quickly and professionally. No problems with any work he has ever done. And yes, we'll keep hiring them for our myriad of electrical problems that keep cropping up in this house. None of their visits have ever had to be for repeat issues - these are ALL new issues.

The issue at your home was caused by what is known as a "half tap" or "suitcase". The connection made with this device had loosened over time causing the circuit to open. It is very possible that the same issue can happen in other parts of your house if the same method was used. Yes, I've submitted a review on this company less than 180 days ago but I live in a fixer-upper where electrical problems keep revealing themselves. My last review was for 3 visits. This review is for 2 visits. Yes, I have that many electrical issues. But notice, who I always call. As always when I call, the professionalism of the people I talk to is just superb. They always get me scheduled very quickly. Jeremy is always prompt and will call even if he thinks he'll only be a couple of minutes late. He's always professional and friendly. Gets the work done and I never worry about any of the work that he does. These guys are definitely my go-to guys when it comes to anything electrical. At this point, I'm guessing on the cost since it was 2 visits but I know their prices are very fair and very worth the consideration and quality you get with these guys.

Priced a electrical addition. I did not use them due to the higher price. I sent a request via their web site for information. I had one person contact me early the next morning and we set up a time to meet. Another person contacted me later that day and didn't know anything about the first contact and time. The person arrived about 15 to 20 minutes past when we were to meet. He was nice and knew what he was talking about, but wanted to use over-the-top products which were not in the budget. He provided a quote the next day as promised so all seemed well, but the price. Seem like nice people - just could not go over the top on what I needed done.

I needed an electrician in a hurry when my husband decided at the end of June to take a week of vacation over 4th of July and build a computer closet inside our existing attic space during his "vacation." I called Staley and asked for a price and a timetable and explained the situation. They came to look at the space the same day I called, got me a quote the following day, and were able to start as soon as my husband finished the framing and the building inspector looked at it. Unfortunately for them, it was probably the hottest day of the year when they had to be in my uncooled attic for hours. They got all the rough-in finished, my husband (slowly) got the rest of the closet built, and they came back to finish out the electrical. Working with Staley was a delightful experience (compared to working with my husband to build the rest of the closet!) and I would absolutely call them again for any electrical needs (or maybe even building a whole closet, if it comes to that again). They were great about coordinating with my schedule and the plumber's schedule (moving the water heater) and the building inspector's schedule. Seriously, if you need any electrical work done, this is the company to call.
Description of Work: Disconnected electric water heater, hooked up electrical for new gas water heater and also created (2) 4-plex wall plug outlets, installed new ceiling light and switch (for new closet), re-wired old light switch and the outlet (which was daisy-chained to it).

Our electrician from Staley Electric, Jeremy, arrived on time, in uniform and took time to look over the list of repairs we came up with during that initial phone call. He was easy to talk to and clear and confident in his explanations. He got to work quickly and didn't leave a mess behind. On a side note, we got a card in the mail from Staley a short while later thanking us for choosing them. I didn't think people still did stuff like that. So nice and so thoughtful! When the power in the house started to surge, and lights dimmed at random times, we called Staley immediately and they sent someone out to make sure there wasn't anything dangerous happening. We discussed replacing the panel and they scheduled a time to complete the repair. (When Jeremy arrived to replace the panel, he brought a generator to keep the food in the fridge cool while he cut the power to the house. My husband and I again were impressed with this thoughtful detail.) The price was great and we haven't had any problems since Staley completed the work. If I had to use just one word to describe my experiences with Staley, it would be "excellent." The company seems to be founded on excellent customer service, excellent completed work and excellent value for the money. Staley Electric's number is stored in my phone and I will use them whenever the need arises.
Description of Work: After some electrical issues were flagged in our home inspection report, my husband and I began searching Angie's List for a trusted company to help us determine if the repairs would be costly or difficult. We didn't know if any company would be willing to take the time to discuss a list of issues over the phone without a guarantee that we would us them for the job; however, I was pleasantly surprised when someone at Staley answered the phone and provided us with meaningful answers and assistance. They helped us come up with a list of priorities, approximate costs of the different repairs, and a timeline of what should happen pretty quickly and what could wait. My husband agreed that if they were that great on the phone, we would definitely use them to help us with the remodel and repairs. After we closed on the house, the first call we made was to Staley's to schedule an electrician.

Technician totally knew what he was doing. Took him more time to undue my mess than it took him to trouble shoot my electrical problem. Left the place clean. He did a really good job.

Jeremy Wilson was the person who came out here. My experience with him was fabulous. He is awesome. He was here for two days and did about eight hours’ worth of work. He seemed very responsible and trustworthy to me.

With the number of storms we've had in the area, several folks have lost power to outdoor receptacles and a good amount of the time is just due to a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) being tripped. If we can walk a customer through the repair and save them money then we are doing a small part in serving our community. Please do note: if you reset a GFI or breaker and it trips right away, do not continue to try to reset it. Call an electrician to check the circuit.

We noticed that three outlets on our front porch were not working and called Staley. Jeremy Wilson came out and determined the problem was a faulty GFCI on the side of the house that controlled the other three outlets. It took him about 15 minutes to change it for a new one that he had brought with him. That night, we noticed that none of the exterior front lights were working, so we called them at 8:00 am the next day. Jeremy was back in about ten minutes to check everything out again. Fortunately, the breakers for these lights had just tripped and there was nothing wrong. I offered to pay him for a service call, but he declined payment, saying we were right on his way to another call anyway. When we called them initially, we told them that we had an Angie's List coupon. Manager Bob Smith told us that was for the Little Rock Office, but he would accept it. I was so impressed by their courtesy and professionalism, I would not hesitate to use Staley again and to recommend them to anyone having any kind of electrical problem.

Staley was awesome. Their guy showed up 15 minutes early and it was all smooth sailing from there. He installed the fans without a hitch and took the trash with him. He was very patient with the fact the fact that I had another contractor scheduled to install a doggie door, reason for rerouting the wire to the electrical outlet, who was an hour or so late. The Staley guy and the doggie door guy were supposed to help each other out with the doggie. Fortunately Staley had the fans to occupy his time.

This cost was actually for 3 different visits because yes, I did use them again and will continue to use them. Their professionalism started from my first contact. Bob Smith and another gentleman came out to look over my lengthy list of electrical problems. They provided some suggestions and advice. Bob was very prompt about getting me a detailed estimate and answered my questions quickly. On the 1st visit, because I was out of town, Bob kept in constant contact with me via text and the work was performed correctly. The 2nd visit was the most extensive with the majority of the work being performed on this visit. Jeremy was great. He's prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. We made arrangements for a 3rd visit and before that visit could happen, I needed to add another item and that wasn't a problem for them at all. Great company. Highly recommended. Great prices.

My main circuit breaker had been tripping for several weeks and was to the point where it was very hot to touch and tripping more often. I called Staley at 0730 and spoke with Bob, very nice and professional. He quoted me about $250-300, since he could not be sure what else the electrician would find when he got here. Brandon phoned at 0800 to tell me he was on the way, he arrived 30 minutes later. He quickly assessed that indeed I did need a new main circuit breaker and that there were no other problems. He left to go get the part, in the mean time Bob called me back with the price of $172. The work was done by 0930. Brandon was polite, professional and got the job done promptly and efficiently. Will highly recommend this company to everyone I know.
