Matt came out and did some work and charged me so much money. Then he simply ghosted me. I continue to have significant leaking issues and texted and called dozens of times begging for help and he simply never showed up. Always promised me “next Monday I’ll for sure be there” and then he’d be a no-show. I asked him for months for a written report of my issues so I could see if insurance or my home warranty could help and it was always “just as soon as I’m back in the office I’ll get that right over to you. Do not hire this company under any circumstances. I paid 1000s and still have several of inches of water in the basement every time it rains. The work he did was all for nothing and didn’t improve my situation one tiny bit.

This contractor burned our house down trying to waterproof an exterior wall. He used a roofing torch to “sweat” the water out of the bottom corse of CMU and caught the siding on fire. The fire then went through the attic and down the interior walls. It was a total loss with the exception of a few clothes. This guy was conciliatory at first (this was Friday). The following Monday, he told our insurance that they could sue him because he didn’t do it. I have fire reports from the fire marshal and the county sheriffs office fire investigator saying that his actions caused the fire. Beware of this company!

The job was well done; work quality was good and met expectations. PFS has issues with followup: response to calls, emails, was poor-to-unbelievable. The firm's principal, Matthew Johnston, promised (in writing) they would revisit the job at 2-week, 30-day, 4-month, 8-month and 12-month intervals. It's been 14 months and I've heard nothing from PFS. I would hire PFS again but only with a schedule for work and penalties for non-compliance. As I said, the work itself was good but communications were poor.

Mr. [Member Name Removed], Thank you for review. I do apologize that you feel that we did not fulfill the follow up visits. Sir, we did have a representative make trips out to review the storm water runoff during severe rainfall events and to observe the crawlspace drain actually discharging water as it was designed to. Nothing was in the contract in regards to follow up communications. It was assumed that since not a single telephone call was ever received and digitally logged into our system that you did not have a warranty claim. How else could we assume you had any issues if you failed to follow the written instrument of warranty which specifically states that you should contact us with any potential warranty claims. Your project was completed and all of the final documents were received by you on April 14, 2017 at 12:52 P.M. Yet, below, you state that our follow up never occurred; however, from the date of your emails presented below compared to the time date stamp of your last email, no on-site presence/follow up was due. The next site visit due was not until 8 months (December 2017) and 12 months (April 2018) Below are the last two (2) electronic communique we received; however, not a single telephone. call. In the business of foundation repair, no news is good news. PFS Inc assumed all was well based upon our follow up site visits as well as no communications from you since September 6, 2017. basement waterproofing

Work took months to complete, only displaced the problem, and did more damage to the home. We had basement flooding with the heavy rains at Christmas 2015. We got the run around by one company so in January called PFS & they were able to come out & immediately. We chose the work we wanted to have done & sent a deposit check which cleared the bank on February 1st. They said they'd be right back out to get the work done. Then for SIX WEEKS we received excuse after excuse as to why they couldn't come. They set a date to come & later canceled. Rescheduled to one morning at 9 a.m. At 8:45 I left my office to meet them at the house. At 9 am they called my husband & said they were running late. It's a one hour drive from their offices to our house. They knew at 8 am & 8:30 & at 8:45 they wouldn't make it by 9 but couldn't call earlier? He said they were leaving just then, so should be here by 10. I came back at 10 am & sat for 45 minutes & waited. Called them every 5 minutes & no one ever answered the phone. I left a note on the door & left the basement unlocked for them & went back to work. I have no idea what time they actually showed up that day but they did show and work. I sat on the bill a week or two, but the DAY my check cleared the bank we had some rain--nothing substantial, just a light rain. After work, we went to check the basement. Along one whole wall where their new foam sealant was dripping wet. My husband called the next morning & sent photographs & got "hmmm, that has never happened before" & they said they'd be out and they came within a few days. Another rain, more water in the basement. They came back again. Waited for weeks (May 16th) More rain--light, steady, maybe half the day. More water leaking in. The next morning my husband texted them & sent photos of where it was leaking. The response was that oh, they did not fix it last time (April 4th) because the injector machine broke & none of the holes got filled, but no one told us it wasn't fixed! We could've had the wall repaired & thousands worth of flooring down because no one ever told us it wasn't fixed!!! We were just wise enough to wait for it to rain & see if it would leak again because we have no faith in them. Coincidentally, the very machine that had broken had gotten fixed the day before!! So they came out to fix it again. We got tired of waiting for heavy rains so we set the hose by the wall & let it run for hours. Still wet in the basement. They came back & worked a couple days. We ran the hose again. One leak, but now it's up high & we only paid for the bottom half of the wall to be repaired. They'd finally accomplished the job they were paid to. They just relocated the leaking to a higher location. Now we've spent an additional $3000+ (with someone else) installing a French drain around the house--what we should've just done to begin with--to fix the problem. The next step in our remodel was to call a plumber to come in & run some water lines in the area repaired. The plumber didn't even get started on the work when he got to the drain & discovered whoever removed the pipe before broke the drain off. We couldn't prove PFS did this damage so we agreed to have the plumber fix it--which requires a jackhammer & $500 worth of work. Once they jackhammered into the floor & could stick their hand in it, they found TONS of foam shot down into the drain. It is obvious what happened was PFS indeed did break the drain & rather than mentioning it or admitting it, they shot foam down into the hole so gasses wouldn't back up. Had we not discovered the foam way down the drain we would've had major issues in the near future. The plumbers had to spend an entire day trying to dig out the drain & all the foam. We have NO doubt now that PFS was responsible for the broken drain & the exact same foam that was shot into our walls being shot down our drain. Also, no one else has been in the house besides them. I don't understand how or why they would do this or why they would not just admit to breaking something & offering to repair it instead of trying to hide it. I've never been more disgusted and frustrated with a company. The photos attached are from 3 different dates, I have more than that even.

Please enter what you would like the response to look like:Dear Mrs. [Member Name Removed], Wow!! So based upon your recollection, the project took 283 days? Work Completed on 12/20/2016? Really? That, my lady, is a tall tale. Your ungrammatical wording is hard to decipher; however, we will try and answer every fallacious accusation you have tired to force down the current viewer's throat with disdain like a scorned woman. Your lineage of the events is somewhat amusing trying to track, back-track and then again try to figure out which direction you are going with this slanderous review. I do not want to point fingers, but mam, please, tell the facts EXACTLY how they occurred. And mam, we have never spoken to you or emailed you; nor could I tell a single Angie's List member what you look like or sound like so I am almost trying to correct a ghostly review. Our only point of contact was your through your husband, [Member Name Removed] by site visit and by electronic communique. Here is the timeline of the events as they ACTUALLY occurred and were documented through electronic communique and digitally recorded telephone calls and recorded cameras while on-site per PFS Inc corporate policy. Your husband, [Member Name Removed], contacted us on January January 19, 2016 at [Member Information Removed]:09 P.M. advancedtelemessaging.com To: PRECISION FOUNDATION SPECIALISTS INC. , Jan 19, 2016 at [Member Information Removed]:09 PM [Member Name Removed] 479)849-0208 N/A 8AM TO NOON 140 COUNTY ROAD 152 [Member Information Removed] EUREKA SPGS AR RE: HAS A LEAK IN BASEMENT, WATER COMING UP FROM SOMEWHERE. HE THINKS ITS FROM THE SEAM B/T FLOOR AND WALL. WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO TAKE A LOOK BEFORE HE PUTS FLOORING DOWN. ------------------------------- A site visit was scheduled and conducted on January 25, 2016. The site was viewed and documented with a digital camera indicating a vertical wall shear fracture 5' in height with a opening to exceed 5mm. Your husband, [Member Name Removed], specifically stated that "this is where the water is coming in". The interior concrete slab on grade was placed (installed) to the interior of the placed 8" thick concrete basement wall with no elastomeric membrane to keep water from surpassing the concrete continuous footing that the wall beared on (cold joint). This will allow hydrostatic water pressure to build up and push the water upwards through the cold joint. It was observed and measured by a Speedy Moisture meter that moisture was present. It was recommended at that time that there was two (2) choices of attack: [Member Information Removed]. High pressure direct inject the full height and length of the wall with ports every 12 inches on center over the 38 foot long wall and 8 foot tall. The price quoted in the field at that time was estimated at $10,863.00; Below is the actual copied estimate as it was written. ------------------------------------------------------------------ [Member Name Removed] Schedule of Pricing B Address: 140 County Road 152 . The alternative to give you a price point and fix just the wall fracture and seal the cold joint from the concrete floor to 3' up the wall was priced at $3,465.00; Below is the actual copied estimate as it was written: [Member Name Removed] Schedule of Pricing A Address: 140 County Road 152 . SUM $3,465.00 *This includes a Fully Transferable Limited One Year Warranty on all Labor* ----------------------------------------- So you were given two (2) options and you choose the bottom pricing option for the exact work as quoted and want to blame us for the leak still occurring months after we left the site? The contract was officially signed electronically by [Member Name Removed] on January 26, 2016 at 5:16 P.M. The security deposit was due at contract signing per the contract language; yet you did not provide until February [Member Information Removed], 2016 some five (5) days after signing. As [Member Name Removed] was told in the contract signing, the security deposit sets the schedule. We are a first come, first service company. As well, [Member Name Removed] was specifically told that we were four (4) to five (5) weeks out based upon our current schedule and inclimate weather always pushes the schedule back two (2) to (3) days every time it rains. Our arrival and service to complete the project took a total of two (2) days and was completed within 44 actual calendar days from contracting, late security deposit placement, material procurement and installation. The final invoice was sent by electronic communique on March 15, 2016 at 5:57 P.M. Below is the EXACT email as it was transcribed on that date: From: Precision Foundation To: [Member Name Removed] Cc: [Member Name Removed] at es.k12ar.us Mar 15, 2016 at 5:57 PM [Member Name Removed], I have attached the final invoice to this paperwork. Final receipts and warranty will be provided upon final payment. While on the project today, I noticed the following things that need to be brought to your attention: [Member Information Removed]. Concrete slab on grade in basement where we drilled and injected is only 3 [Member Information Removed]/2 inches thick 2. Concrete wall is 8 " thick and there was a 4' void directly behind the vertical fracture. 3. The Sewer line was already broken 4. The sewer line will need repair at least 2 feet into the slab. Upon placing the foam injection, we got return out of the sewer line meaning the line has been leaking for a while and there is a fracture or broken line below the concrete. The foam only reacts when water is present and instantly upon injection, the foam started returning up the line. Please process the final payment upon receipt of this invoice. Respectfully Submitted, PFS Inc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, from your "response that is true and accurate and represents your actual first-hand experience" you stated that "I sat on the bill a week or two," which was a breach of contract; however, PFS Inc never contacted you a single time asking about payment for services rendered weeks earlier. From the NOAA historical data, there is NOAA rain gauge less than [Member Information Removed]/2 mile from your residence and according to all of the scientific data collected, the following days are the ONLY rain measured at your house; yet you claim it FLOODED the day your final payment check cleared on April [Member Information Removed], 206; but there was ZERO rain for a period nine (9) days. How is that it ONLY rained at your house and nowhere else in Eureka Springs, Arkansas that day? Strange weather phenoma that only occurs at [Member Name Removed]'s house? 2016 03 19 0.03 inches 2016 03 24 0.33 inches 2016 03 28 0.01 inches 2016 04 09 0.01 inches 2016 04 10 T inches 2016 04 11 [Member Information Removed].85 inches 2016 04 12 T inches 2016 04 13 0.01 inches 2016 04 14 0.20 inches 2016 04 15 T 2016 04 16 T 2016 04 18 0.23 inches 2016 04 19 0.42 inches 2016 04 20 0.90 inches 2016 04 21 0.13 inches ------------------------------------------------ Total for one ([Member Information Removed]) month was 4.12 inches in 15 separate rainfall events during the wettest time of the year in Spring. That is some 4+ inches BELOW the area historical data average. So now we get to the "shot foam down the drain" claim. Obviously, you have ZERO clue as how hydrophobic foam exothermic reactions occurs, so here is the just of it. It ONLY reacts if there is water present and it is injected in upwards of 4,000 psi through concrete and will find ANY and ALL cracks in plumbing beneath a concrete slab on grade. Please take the time to read the email that I am sure your husband NEVER told you about; especially, the section as to how we POURED foam into the pipe. Mam, the foam is injected under high pressure through a pump into a pre-drilled 3/8 inch hole filled with an aluminum port. It cannot be "poured" into the drain. Below is the exact line items your husband was made aware of. And I find it funny that the ONLY final invoice was attached to this email. So, in order to get the final invoice, he had to have (hopefully my grammar is correct with that) read these exact line points/bullets as detailed once again below: 3. Now, you contacted us to utilize our expertise and knowledge and when we provide a full cost proposal to STOP the problem, you choose the lesser value in an gainful prayer to accomplish the same task in [Member Information Removed]/3rd the cost? This is why homeowner's should trust the professionals and quit watching DIY television shows. We gave you and [Member Name Removed] ALL of the recommendations and let you make your own decision as to the repair. And PFS Inc will NOT admit to breaking or damaging anything as the photographic evidence we still have today proves 100% that your house was not built to minimum codes, had severe structural deficiencies and was already damaged upon our arrival to the site. Should anyone want to view the actual email logs, phone logs or photographs of the project, please do not hesitate to contact us. As well, we would have welcomed an independent investigation by the Arkansas Contractor's Licensing Board; however, you never made a claim with them and you never contacted us in regards to any warranty work. Thank you for allowing PFS Inc an opportunity to respond to this fictitious review.

Thank you for allowing PFS Inc to respond to this malicious review. 1. [Member Name Removed] has NO basement and NO waterproofing services were ever quoted or provided. 2. No work was conducted as she asserts; therefore, the work complete date is false along with her entire review. [Member Name Removed] extorted services with no intent to pay. In the legal world, it is known as "enrichment of property without proceeds". Our services were contracted for the demolition of all existing interior finishes of an existing 1,700 sq.ft. single family dwelling to bare stud and debris haul off for a potential remodeling project. The work was completed in five (5) days for the total rock bottom sum of $1,800.00 which she never paid and a lien was placed against the property and a lawsuit was filed for the collections of the outstanding balance and attorney's fees. We would have welcomed an independent investigation by the Arkansas Contractor's Licensing Board; however, no claim was ever made with them. Why not? Thank you for allowing PFS Inc an opportunity to respond to this fictitious review.

He never performed according to the contract. I paid him an initial deposit. He came out and did some work but with the first rain, I ended up with water in the basement again. He said he's going to fix it. It dragged on. He supposedly got out 3 months later and corrected the problem. He was really a nice guy and he was actually fair and easy to deal with during this time. I made a mistake of going ahead and paying him the remainder of the contract after he said he finished everything, with the contingency that he comes back and does some more work, and I got that in writing. Basically he never showed up. He continued to say he was going to come fix it, but he never did and I ended up having to write him a letter and threatening to take him to court and sue him for not fulfilling the contract. He had bid to put in a full gap of rock backfill along this walk in our basement to keep the water off. He never ended up putting that in. Basically he did not perform according to the contract.
Description of Work: Precision Foundation Specialists Inc. was supposed to do some basement waterproofing. The contract started in April of 2013.

(Member name removed) claims are completely false. PFS Inc. was hired to do a project in November 2013. The project was started and completed in November 2013 through inclement weather with no extra charges involved. (Member name removed) claims of not providing the services are false. Pictures are available for everyone to view. (Member name removed) did not even tell the true facts regarding the project and he lied about the dates of service. (Member name removed) is trying to defame the 35+ year positive reputation of PFS Inc. PFS Inc. has earned an A+ rating through the BBB. We ask that you please read the copied letter by PFS Inc. corporate attorney. February 18, 2014 (Member name & info removed) Re: Precision Foundation Specialists, Inc Dear (Member name removed): I represent Precision Foundation Specialists, Inc. (PFS) of Springdale, Arkansas. This letter is in response to your communiqué dated February 3, 2014 regarding work performed at 687 N. Mission Blvd. in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Matt Johnston has provided me with photographs showing the work performed by PFS this past November 2013 and on January 3, 2014. He has also provided numerous photographs of the remodel work and the new driveway and retaining wall being constructed after PFS Inc. contract was fulfilled and completed 100% in 2013. I will address each of your allegations and my client’s response First of all, you allege that the waterproofing services rendered by PFS were not in accordance with the terms of the contract. Mr. Johnston informs me that you contacted him approximately 4 weeks after the job was completed regarding moisture on an interior wall. He further informs me that you and somebody by the name of Quinn met him (Matt) at the property and everybody agreed that the interior walls in two bedrooms were acclimating and sweating due to the exterior and interior temperatures. It apparently happened again around December 27, 2013 for the same reason. PFS treated the interior walls with Foundation Armor ($1,800.00) on or about January 3, 2014 at no cost to you. I understand there is a new property owner adjacent to your property that has taken out his portion of what used to be a shared driveway. As a result, you have been forced to excavate what was left of your driveway and approximately 10 feet of your yard and install a new driveway and retaining wall. As of last week, there have been no permits issued by the City of Fayetteville for the remodel and driveway/retaining wall projects. As a licensed professional engineer, you should know that permits are required for the type of work being performed. From the photographs and Google Earth image, it is obvious why you are having a new retaining wall installed. Your contractor has excavated dirt several feet away from the structure to set the base for the retaining wall. In so doing, he has uprooted and destroyed the pipe and French Drain installed by PFS. Mr. Johnston informs me that you initially demanded 16 yards of rock, 16 yards of topsoil and 100 feet of perforated, corrugated pipe and fittings for your new project and now you want a complete refund of the total contract amount. (Member name removed), PFS is not going to provide you with materials to complete your new project and you are certainly not going to receive a refund. In your letter dated February 3, 2014, you allege that several months have now passed and you have lost potential income from the rental property. Since there have been no permits pulled for the new driveway/retaining wall and remodeling projects, I have no definitive date as to when the new projects commenced, but it is obvious from the photographs that were taken on February 4th that you are nowhere near completing the interior work to rent this property, unless you plan on renting a building with no sheetrock on the interior walls, no electrical, not water, no fixtures, etc. Moreover, the new driveway, retaining wall and total remodel have absolutely nothing to do with the work that was contracted and performed by PFS. It is absurd to claim lost rent. Mr. Johnston informs me that PFS applied the Foundation Armor on January 3, 2014.The next contact was a request from you to meet with Mr. Johnston on the jobsite on January 29th. I have the photographs that were taken on January 30th. Your contractor had already excavated the dirt for the new driveway and retaining wall and destroyed the pipe and French Drain that was installed by PFS. By doing so, you have voided all warranties associated with the work performed by PFS. You stated in your letter that through your own investigation you found that PFS did not complete the job as originally agreed upon in the contract. I see no language in the contract that requires PFS to build a retaining wall. The contract required PFS to install French Drain and Class 57 Stone, but I see nothing about installing the rock that is presently on the jobsite. More importantly, you could not rent that house if it was remodeled because you have no parking and parking is not allowed on Mission Boulevard. For these reasons, I strongly suggest you refrain from using the word “fraud” when discussing my client. My client would welcome an investigation by the Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board. Sincerely, Steven D. Tennant, Attorney for PFS Inc.
