American Standard Foundation Repair of NW Arkansas

We bought an older house last year and discovered during heavy rains water would seep into the edges of the basement via the crawlspace. We spoke to two different foundation companies who each had a very different and expensive idea to correct our issue. Their ideas just didn't seem to make sense. Then American Standard Foundation Repair was recommended to us and they were the first ones who seemed to know exactly how to handle the water issue. They were prompt, professional, knowledgeable, polite, and thorough. They prepared a precisely drawn contract with everything itemized and gave us ample time to decide whether to move forward. ASFR was on top of everything from the permitting phase through installation and all the way to clean up. When they left we could hardly tell we'd had trenches dug all around the house. We have dealt with many contractors over the years and I must say ASFR is at the top of the list with regard to integrity. We have had several substantial rains this week and there has been no leakage in the crawlspace.

Michael was extremely responsive and worked with us to find the best options for leveling our floor. Zac, Production Leader, Brandon, the Crew Leader, Tyler, Jason, and Shane demonstrated exemplary customer service. They were friendly, courteous, and professional. Quality work from the beginning bid all they way through the finished service.

We live in an older home (built in the late 70's) with a lower level walkout basement. About a year after moving in we getting water in the basement every time is rained really hard (which was almost always at night) which left my husband and myself up all night running our wet vac to clean up the water. I originally called Mike back in 2013 and he came out and gave us a very detailed estimate to fix the problems we were having. We weren't in position to have the work done back then. Then in September we were finally in a position to have it done, I called Mike back and he came out and looked at the house again and the estimate went up only a fraction from the original 2 years earlier (which made us very happy!) His crew came out and got started mid October and took them only 4 days (a lot shorter than we expected) to get everything completed. His crew was polite, kept the mess to a minimum and had the front and side of our house back together quickly! We've had two decent rains since they finished and so far so good!

Very professional. Mike gave me a very detailed estimate and explained each step. I felt very well informed of what was going to happen. The gutters and downspouts were installed first. A few months later they came back and re-built support under the house. It took 6 days. Zach, Brandon, and team did a great job. It was not an easy job, as the only access is through an opening in my closet. They hauled cement block and buckets of cement, among other things, for a long time. They were friendly, professional, timely, and very hard workers. I am very impressed with the job they did, and my house feels much more solid. I am very impressed with this business! My husband and I were concerned that we may have dry rot on 2 beams in our crawlspace, and also wanted a foundation specialist to give us advice about a crack in our concrete block foundation. Mike Herring, NWA's franchise owner, came to personally inspect our situation. He could have tried to sell us an expensive mold/fungus removal service; instead, he told us the material on the beams was dried concrete and required no treatment. And rather than try to sell us on costly repairs to our foundation, he recommended sealing the crack with a special grout and wait to see if the crack grows. How unusual in today's "dog-eat-dog" home repair services, to find a business with such integrity. We are contracting his company to work on our gutters so that the water comes out further from the house and they will also be sealing the crack -- because our family can trust him to do the right thing. We highly recommend this company.

Still to early to tell, but work was excellent. Gutter drainage was moved away from house and portion of house under ground was sealed and protected with french drain placed to handle water. The crew doing the work were top notch.very hard workers, They were polite and answered all my questions. I definitely would hire them again . Great company with great workers.

Michael Herring, the general manager, was able to schedule a time to view the property / problem within forty-eight hours of my original phone call. He was punctual and efficient. Of the three people / businesses that bid on this project, he was the only one who took notes as he looked at the property / problem. He explained the problem and the proposed solution until I understood - and that wasn't easy. Drainage issues, structural damage, erosion, etc. are not my forte to say the very least. Mike drew diagrams and gave specific examples to help me grasp the situation. Eventually, it sank in - although I had to ask and re-ask several questions. His answers were always knowledgeable and patient. The three bids were similar at first glance; however, with closer inspection, Mike's was the only one that was specific in regard to the materials to be used, the work to be performed, the cost breakdown, and the ultimate goal of keeping water away from the house as much as possible. He emailed me the detailed bid in less than one week as promised. Despite the torrential spring rains, work began several days earlier than predicted. The crew - Zach, Brandon, Jason, Tyler and Shane - was the best I've ever employed. They were articulate, polite, efficient, hardworking, punctual, responsible, and tidy. Brandon and Zach, in particular, kept me informed and answered my many questions. The entire crew was pleasant and articulate. They left the property as they'd found it - taking care not to disturb the flowers. About one week after completion of the work, I noticed that one of the downspouts was not functioning properly. I called Mike that day (a Friday), and he sent two of the crew out first thing Monday morning. The problem was corrected that day in less than two hours. That's what I call excellent customer service. I would definitely use American Standard Foundation Repair NWA Inc in the future.

We were impressed with the crew's work ethic, courtesy, and care to details. The management of the crew on site kept work on target. We were kept informed with progress at each stage of the work. They were considerate of existing landscaping--it looked better upon completion than it did before. We would definitely recommend them!

The company had a break in their schedule and asked if we would like them to begin our project early which we agreed to immediately! The crew showed up as promised and continued to prosecute the job until it was completed to our satisfaction. The workers were very professional, courteous and extremely likeable. We had a great experience with this company and their employees and would rehire immediately if additional foundation services are required. Mike Herring is a super-nice fella and dealing with him was a pleasure. Thanks a bunch! You guys rock!

We had a ton of water coming in under our house when it rained. We researched foundation people etc. and American Standard Foundation stood out among all the others. I sent an email to them for a look see and get an estimate. I received an email back the next day and then a phone call to set up an appointment. Mike Herring came out...crawled under the house, measured, assessed the water problems, figured and refigured. He sat down at out kitchen table and went over each and every problem and showed us exactly what could be done to remedy the water problem. He said I'll send you and estimate and you decide if and when you are ready..." I will not bug you". The estimate was very concise. He itemized each and every part that we would need. We gave the go ahead. He had a crew show up. They dug up the landscape and placed it on plastic. They laid plastic out and removed the creek gravel to it. The crew hand dug the entire length of the house... kept everything as neat as possible. Placed rock in the ditch and laid the drain. Put in several pop up drains at ground level so that they would not interfere with mowing. Sealed an area around the pool and rerouted the pool drain water out into the yard away from the house. The day they left you could hardly tell that the work at been done. Everything was neatly put back into place. That night our area received a lot of rain...the next morning Mike was here by 9:30 to check to see if any water had come under the house. He could have just waited to see if he got a call, but instead personally came out to check for himself. And, by the way...NO water. Hard job WELL DONE. I would highly recommend American Standard Foundation and Mike Herring. His crew is great!!!! I don't believe there is a foundation problem or water problem that he cannot fix.

They arrived at the scheduled date/time and performed quality work in a reasonable timeframe. I would hire them again.

His advice was very valuable to me and the fact that he did not insist for his company to do the work, convinced me that he is an honorable and ethical businessman. Those are hard to find these days.

Mike came over within a day of calling him for an estimate. Extremely professional and thorough. He not only gave the best estimate I had received, but was able to get the work initiated within a week of the estimate (for which my wife is extremely grateful). When the crew came out to the house, they showed up right when they said they would and were gone by 4:30pm. Three days they worked on the house and they communicated clearly each beginning and end of the day about what they had done, what was left, and when they would be back the next day. Two days after the job was done I noticed a new crack in a wall and they came out the next day to fix it...and the fix was VERY reasonable. I highly recommend Mike and his crew (Alex, Zak, Brandon, Tyler, and Jason).

Estimate was done promptly and thoroughly with good description and explanation. Some photos were shown of previous jobs done. Once a contract was signed to have work done we did have about a month's wait before our job could be worked into the contractor's schedule. Communication was via texting with estimator and was prompt throughout wait period. Job was started almost two weeks earlier than our original wait estimate which was 6 weeks. Workers were friendly and professional and open to my questions and concerns. I had a one day delay in job due to heavy rain, other wise the entire job was completed in the 3 day estimate. This was very messy work complicated by the rain day which yielded about 1 3/4" rainfall. The workers did as well as they could to try to contain the mess (piles of muddy dirt) and all of their work equipment and supplies. At the conclusion of each work day they put yellow caution tape all around work areas and bright orange plastic cones. It was not lost on me that when a worker needed to use our restroom (which I offered) they removed their shoes and entered my home two at a time and basically stood guard/supervised themselves (two straight in and two straight out). This should be reassuring to anyone concerned with stranger safety in their home. I took photos of all the work in progress during the three day job and asked many questions. I had also done quite a bit of internet searching regarding work practices of the installation I was having done. The work that was done met every single expectation I had and then some. The French drain tube was enclosed with a dense mesh sleeve to prevent dirt/rocks getting into it and it was also wrapped with thick fibrous landscaping "paper". A very thick rubber sheeting was nailed into my foundation wall just below grade and run against the foundation wall well below and out from the French Drain. Also, the foundation wall was prepped with a very heavy coat of roofing tar beneath the rubber sheeting. All of my down spouts were run at least 10'-15' away from the house and ended with pop-up deflector spouts. The two rear down spouts were dug and redirected a good 30'-40' from the back area of my home to each far side of the property also ending in pop-ups. It was so clear to me that every effort was being made to redirect all possible water run off issues completely away from my home! After seeing what they did, I have every confidence that the water intrusion issue I had into my garage will not happen again! They communicated very clearly exactly what and why they were doing as well as showed me concerns they found and how they would be managed. I really feel the work done was top notch. Thank you to Alex, Zach, Brandon, Tyler and Jason! This kind of work is messy and you need to have realistic expectations that despite efforts to contain the dirt mess (a tarp was put down onto which they piled all dug out dirt), there will be a mess when they are done. The workers did fix my patio bricks which they collapsed (had to tunnel dig beneath them) and made attempts to do some overfilling to account for soil settling (they let me know I could call them back if I had too much settling and needed more dirt fill). They also hauled away concrete which they had to jack hammer away from my foundation footers below grade. Where my French drain was put was where all my home's utilities happened to be located (cable, phone, gas, AC hook up, and electric)! No damage was done to any of these by all their careful hand digging! I recommend this company emphatically!

It has been nearly a year since this major project began and we are quite pleased with each step. First,we installed gutters to divert water from the foundation of our home. The installation by an outside contractor went well. Next, a channel drain was installed in a back walkway, again to divert water. This looks nice and works well. Finally, the foundation specialists had to tie up the porch foundation to the original house and insert steel jacks and beams and new footings. It was necessary to dig across our flower beds to install underground drains. These were put back together and look totally undisturbed. One or two gutters needed tightening and Michael took care of this right away. The water diversion and the amount of lift of the porch back into position worked just like Michael said it would.

Mike, with American Standard, saved us from purchasing a home that would have required 10s of thousands of dollars worth of foundation repair. He could have talked us into his services on the home, but instead, he encouraged us to keep looking. All at no charge. We finally bought another home, and Mike came out, gave us an estimate on a few minor issues, then spent another hour detailing other home repairs we might consider, and how to do them ourselves! If we go forward with any foundation repairs, Mike is the one we'll call! Great guy, incredible integrity.

Mike sent to me the Estimate that we had discussed and contacted me several times to touch base as to when to expect the team. Brian was our project manager. He and his team of guys were great. They showed up on the day the project was to happen and worked the entire time they were there. Brian was there throughout the entire project and if I had questions or concerns he was available to answer them for me. The guys hand dug around 3 sides of our home and booted the foundation with a water proof fabric barrier then put down the 4 inch French drain... pipe and rock. They did locate one of the causes of the water build up and caulked the hole and buried several of the downspout drains as well. They put the landscape back as best they could and this spring many of the plants came back right where they should have been. They were great with our large dogs and even our 140 lb Mastiff couldn't resist escaping through the barricade to hang with them. I really appreciated they were patient and kind to our animals. Especially when they were going to be in their area for 4 or 5 days. When the project was completed the deck was rebuilt, the extra wood was stacked next to the wood pile, and I have not had water in the basement. The piers on the back side of the house were added and the patio was cemented in a job well done. I am so happy...

Worked out good with very professional job. Did not try to sell anything extra.

This was a great experience. Michael met with me the week before to go over the contract to make sure we both understood what was to be done and the cost of everything. On the day of the work, the team showed up on time and immediately got to work. As they were going, progress was explained to me in detail. They found and fixed some little things at no extra charge. Most of the work was completed that day. There was some soil that needed to be delivered the next day, but they explained it all and brought it with no issues. I would definitely recommend and use this company again!

The owner's crew was on time, courteous,efficient, left no mess or debris and completed the project on schedule. This is the second time we have used this company. The first time was for foundation work in our previous home and, again, the work and crew was outstanding,

Mike's team, led by Brian, are the BEST! We were so impressed by these diligent, respectful, personable, and hard working young men. I wanted to adopt a couple of them (especially Brandon), but maybe that is more due to our own 17 yr. old son being a pill right now . . . It was a genuine pleasure having them around on the days they were here. They did everything by hand and I was amazed at how well it went. Quality work too! They consulted and informed me as needed and I felt completely comfortable the entire time. A separate guy came by for the concrete work and he too was an amazing force of nature when it came to work. I will definitely use these guys again and I HIGHLY recommend that my friends do as well. Thanks to Mike and the entire crew! You are the BEST!

I felt the estimate was reasonable, however we were not in a position to act on the estimate at that time. When we are ready to move forward, we will recontact them. The rep who visited us was very knowledgeable and showed great expertise. He talked to us in plain language and made sure we understood the issues we faced.

These guys were great. The weather was our enemy on this but they kept on. They did everything they said they would and more. My driveway looks awesome and I plan to have them back soon to do some more work for me. Great service!

He provided a bid for that and several other things I should consider doing, if not now, then in the future. He never sent the bid. I followed up by phone asking for the bid. He said if I wasn't going to do all the work, then the job was too small for his time. He grumbled a bit, said he'd send me the bid for the one part anyway, but never did. I would have preferred that he was up front and forthright, rather than wasting my time by telling me he'd send a bid, making me wait for it, then not following up. Bottom line: big jobs only, even though he'll apparently come and bid small jobs. Not forthright, which is not professional.
