1. How dare he think he could take advantage of customers? 2. Padding the bill? 3. Concealing charges his wife (appointments) never mentioned? 4. How dare he think he think he could get away with it, as a member or listed with ?Angie?s List Comp.??? 5. Would not put on ?booties? I always have available? He wore crocs and socks; socks filthy with leaves, grass, etc. 6. Came 30 minutes late on a 9:30AM appointment 7. No tool box, No tool bag, No Flashlight, No parts ? empty hands? 8. ?Let?s walk around and see what need fixing??? 9. H*** no, I said to myself, that?s $47.50 right there?? $95.00 per hour. 10. His wife knew exactly and I had a written list on me? 11. 8 trips in and out my front door, out to truck, for parts, etc. or calls??? 12. Put on new toilet guts, but said ?old flapper ok? OMG!!! 13. Who does that when stuff all in a kit??? 14. Hour later, he said second toilet needed guts? I offered our kit, to save time, bought in 2011 (Fluidmaster) 15. He readily put that on, but again, ?old flapper is ok? ? OMG!!! (My head was not working??) New guts mean new flapper 16. He charges us for my guts kit, leaves ½ off toilet, toilet still broken, and never says a word til bill is written?? Still said nothing. 17. Had no ?O? rings kitchen faucet size ? told me to go out and search for them?? He puts two smaller ones on, and Koehler faucet does not turn from right to left? 18. I told plumbing supply store what he had done and I called Fluidmaster 800# at our toilets?? 19. Padded the bill with ridiculous charges and didn?t even know our tax was 8% - pretended not to know so he could do 10% which no town has 100 miles in all directions and probably further?? 20. Completely tried to pull wool over my eyes? 21. We now need second plumber, but no money yet to spend. 22. Wrote him twice asking for $102 refund? 23. Never heard a word. He really should return $313 for all this stress to us!! 24. I couldn?t argue about the bill, to him, any more than I did, guess why?? 25. ?Sharon, I can?t sit on your porch curb any longer, I have other calls. If you need to discuss this more, I?ll have to charge you more than $95 x 2 hours???? 26. He behaved like a major disappointment to his plumbing profession ? how dare he?? 27. His disregard for padding our bill and then not wanting to go over it, should get him taken off Angie?s List, pronto. 28. Toilet supply line prices his wife knew, tightening faucets, easy things were the rest. 29. *SIT DOWN FOR THIS!!! If his wife or manager (Deidre) and I?ll bet you a dollar to donuts, his wife, had said this to me on phone ? HE NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED AT ALL, EVER!* *$25 Travel fee????** $95 per hour and I agreed to two hours, and gas was $1.75 regular! (He admitted he does a lot of work in my town!!!) HOW DARE HE. HOW RUDE. THE NERVE. HOW CAN HE SLEEP AT NIGHT? We still want a $102 refund or $313 refund, so he never does this to another!
Description of Work: $313 ("down the drain” so to speak!!) His original bill was $473. You can see how I attempted to get him to re-do bill.

Description of Work: We thought we had a major leak under our house. He crawled the full length looking for the leak and finally found that our hot water heater which sits on the back add on had a leak. Even though it was sitting in a pan the pan had a drain which went under the plastic that holds the underside insulation against the floor. He turned off the water to the water heate, turned it off & as a safety measure turned off the water to the house. We now have to have an electrician out to check the breaker box to see if we need any work done there to support the new water heater (the house was built in 1977 & there's been no electrical upgrades or changes since then). We're happy with the work he did in finding where all the water was coming from.

The service was good.
Description of Work: I’ve used them twice for the last two weeks. One was for getting a better drainage and the other one was for replacing the toilet. The last time I used them was for unplugging the washing machine

Called and Mrs. Thurman scheduled the guys to come to the house in two days as they were in the middle of a big job and our problem was a small leak, not an emergency. Two plumbers arrived. The plumbers were very courteous. I was impressed with their professionalism. Before they ever entered the house they covered their shoes with booties so as not to track up the floor. Definite plus. They inspected the cabinet areas under the tub and found the leak. They showed my husband and I exactly where the leak was and fixed it so that we had no more moisture issue. While they were there we asked a million questions about what the problem was and what we needed to do to make sure there was no mildew or mold growth. They gave us 2 or 3 different suggestions of how we could prevent the growth. We asked questions about where to get the materials to do this with and they made several suggestions. They told us exactly what we needed to do. Very pleased! After they completed that job we asked, while they were there, if they could also take a look at a toilet that was not level and an outside drain that had a raised cap that had been broken leaving the drain exposed. They fixed both of those issues while they were there also. So happy to have everything fixed and working properly. We will definitely be using their services again if the need arises.
Description of Work: Our initial call was for the plumbers to find out the source of moisture in a small area under our jetted tub. They discovered and fixed a leak in the water line that goes to the jetted tub. Additionally they went into another bathroom and leveled and sealed a toiled. And...they cut off a broken drainage cap outside the house and re installed a sunken cap that could be mowed over.

We took bids on having a clean-out installed outside our townhouse for future possible plumbing problems. I had a written quote from another plumber for $1,398 to do the work. We've done this work in the past ourselves and knew this was a ridiculous price. We went back to a plumbing company that had done some work for us previously and Mountain Valley Plumbing did the same work for $132.45. It pays to shop around.

This drain has been giving us a problem for some time. Some plumbers just gave up getting it opened and others got it opened for a time and then it closed up again. It was never opened and operating at top performance. Mountain Valley Plumbing, although a little pricey, got the job done and all is running just great now.
Description of Work: The washer drain that runs under the slab in the townhouse became very plugged and wouldn't drain the washer. The service men kept at the problem until they broke through and opened the drain. Job well done!

Technician arrived , I showed him the heater. It took him less than five minutes to tell me the heater had been turned off. He turned valve and stay a few minutes to make sure it came on . Technician tried to locate boss to check on charge, could not find him. Gave me bill for $95.00. I gave him a check. I was charged and hour labor plus trip fee.

Thanks for the A ratings you did give--we take pride in being prompt and courteous. Your review indicates that you were not unhappy with anything other than being charged for such a small amount of time and I understand. We have overhead (such as workers comp insurance, general liability--for all home owner protection--wear and tear on service vehicle, gasoline expense, office expenses, etc) and so the cost of getting to your job and working for up to one hour is what we have to charge to provide quality, prompt, and professional service. The fact that you have a gas water heater meant that it had to be relit in order to get it going (it is our policy to check out the burner assembly to make sure there is not a problem when relighting it) and you mentioned that he stayed around a little while to make sure the water heater was working properly. When he arrived you had no hot water and when he left you, he made sure the water heater was producing hot water, therefore he did provide a service to you that did cost our company to provide. We would like the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Thank you.

Mountain Valley Plumbing was beyond terrific! The owner, Chris Thurman, was very helpful and knowledgeable. He made sure that everything was done correctly and to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: I found Mountain Valley through a recommendation. They installed a new T&P valve and regulator for the water heater, and performed repair work on our sinks and toilet.
