I have a fourplex and I occasionally have a need for plumbers. I've tried to find one that I can use consistently, but I have a hard time doing that. My tenant said the technician was on his cell phone talking to somebody most of the times and even when he was working on the toilet. He left and then I got a bill from them for about $165. It was a very expensive repair for a leaky toilet. Then the tenant called me back within a week and said that the toilet was still leaking. I called them back and got them to finish the job. They were supposed to have a repair guarantee and they sent me a new bill which was about $285 or something like that. I called them and told them that it was unacceptable as they had already fixed it once and they weren't supposed to charge me because they should have fixed it the first time. We haggled around and they agreed to reduce it by the amount of the first repair. I still wound up paying about $300 total. I could have replaced the whole toilet for less than the cost of what I paid to just fix a leak. I would absolutely not use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Arrow Plumbing Inc in July or August 2010. I had them repair a leaky toilet. It was basically some work to the tank and the bowl connection or may be the internal tank hardware.

Josh worked up an estimate for three different water heaters. He explained the differences in the water heaters thoroughly. I chose the Rheem Pro Series 50 gallon with 10 year warranty for parts and labor. Also, includes annual flush and inspection. Removed and hauled off the old water heater. Installed the water heater, drip pan with drain, emergency shutdown alarm, expansion tank and contamination filter. He also replaced the flexible hot and cold water supply lines with copper pipe that he soldered. Josh double and triple checked all his work. He did a very good job and cleaned everything. Installation was excellent. Since having the water heater installed, i have had time to obtain estimates from other plumbing companies. I believe the price I paid was well above the average rate being charged in my area.

Thank you for taking time to rate our service. I'm not certain what an "average" price is, but the water heater package that we installed, with it's added safety items, upgrades and maintenance program, is designed to provide you with what we believe will be the last water heater you ever put in your home. You can rest assured that you did NOT receive an "average" product, service, maintenance, warranty or guarantee. In fact, you won't find these things with any other plumbing company, because as far as we know, we are the only company in our market who offers these services. We value your feedback, and appreciate your business, and hope you feel comforted by the realization that for the next 10 years, you will never lay you head down upon your pillow again without hot water!

The estimate was high. My husband attempted to jackhammer it and found out that the pipe they said was crushed was not crushed. It was perfectly fine. I called them and told that he had done a bad diagnosis. He came and took pictures. We had gotten another company because it was 20 degrees and the girls in the office had to use a port-a-potty. We were trying to run a business with no toilet. They had done some work and I tried to get some of my money back but I did not attempt to get any money back from all the ridiculous jack hammering that we did. I just asked them for the other money back and it took them a while but they did finally give it back and made it right. The man explained that he has never missed a diagnosis and he was appalled. I didn't compare their price.
Description of Work: We used Arrow Plumbing at our business. They came and gave us an estimate of what was wrong and they actually diagnosed it incorrectly. They told us we had to jack hammer out concrete because there was a crushed pipe. They did do some work.

This was a very unusual, yet seemingly unavoidable instance of inaccurate diagnosis. The pipe in question was under the slab, and had to be inspected using a sewer camera. In our market, we are often the company that is used to diagnose this type of problem, due to the equipment required, and the training associated with its use. We accurately and successfully diagnose hundreds of sewer problems annually, often by request of other plumbing companies that have no such technology or experience. This time, though, we clearly missed it. Once uncovered, the pipe was found to be intact, and not broken. We were further surprised to find that a careful review of the video did indeed appear to show a broken section of pipe, as confirmed by not just one, but two camera operators. In this very unusual event, what had appeared to be a broken pipe turned out to be something (perhaps debris or some other straight-line foreign matter) other than what it appeared to be. Sometimes, in spite of our efforts and training, technicians are capable of making a simple human error, which we take very seriously, and immediately implement corrective training. In this case, it was unclear what else could been done differently to have avoided it. It was the first time we had ever seen anything like it. We did of course refund the customer's money, and sincerely regret any frustration or aggravation this situation caused them. We hope that the customer will give us another opportunity to serve them in the future, as we are certain that if given another opportunity, this customer, like most of our customers, will use us again and again as needed.

To their credit they came and fixed it and didn't charge anything. It was several hours of work. They are quite expensive and they could be a little cheaper. We called on a Friday and he came on Monday. He was right on time.
Description of Work: We used Arrow Plumbing to repair an outside tap that broke. They had previously done the repair and we think it was a faulty part. The part clearly broke in half, which it shouldn't have done.

It is not often that we encounter a faulty part, due to our efforts in selecting only products of the highest quality. However, with all our products and services, we do back our work with the best warranties in our market. Our regret is that our customer had to experience the frustration of having to relive the scheduling and repair process twice for the same problem. We appreciate their business, and will continue to make them a priority in the years to come. Thank you!

A man came to the house & told me that the cost for all repairs would be $1200. I couldn't be there when the work was done, so I stupidly left a signed check with my daughter, for the full amount. I was initially told, when the man gave me the estimate, that they would have to cut a hole in the outside wall of my house to fix the leak in the bathroom sink; but it turned out that one of the men found a way around that, & they didn't have to cut a hole in my wall after all. The men that did the work actually told my daughter that 'the job wasn't nearly as bad as they had expected'. When I called the company to ask for a partial refund of my money, I was told "Just be glad didn't have to cut a hole in your wall. It would've cost even more if someone had to fix that too'. I wasn't satisfied with that answer, so he offered to send me a check; stating, 'I'll split the difference with you. That's about 1/2 the difference between the cost of the work they did & what you paid. I agreed to settle for a refund check of $50, but I'm still waiting to see it. Meanwhile, the continuously running outdoor hydrant began running again, a couple of weeks later. A male friend looked at it later & said, & said, 'they didn't fix the outdoor hydrant; they just put a cap on it'.

I came upon this review quite by accident - nearly 6 years after the customer left this review! My goodness, I don't know how we could have missed this. But, a company's word is timeless, and hearing about it late is no excuse for inaction, so I wanted to help. But unfortunately, we can find no record of the call, the customer, or their address in our system. I sure wish we could help! Please, Ms. (member name removed), call me at our office so I can help.

It went very well and I have always been a little hard nosed about paying other people to do stuff that i felt pressured to do. He just came in did what i asked and that was it.
Description of Work: I had them come out to install some new plumbing for a newly refinished tub.Come to find out the wall needed to be taken down in order to replace the control valve. The tech informed me and did not pressure me for services I did not want or need. I even got to pick his brain about a few honey do's around the house. I was impressed so I got him to do a few of them.

We appreciate having been given an opportunity to serve this customer. It is true that in any business, revenue comes in the form of sales. However, we never condone high pressure sales tactics. All our services come with pre-set prices, and our technicians are NOT paid on a commission basis, so they have no incentive to try to "hard sell". We train our technicians to listen to the customer, accurately diagnose the problem and offer all options, along with a price for each, so our customer can choose which option(s) they feel best meets the needs of their families, businesses and budgets. Thank you for your feedback - we are proud that our technician served you well, and we very much appreciate your business.

The new tester spent the normal 10 minutes testing the valve and provided the paperwork for the city. He was very friendly and knew his business and I was $114 better off.
Description of Work: Sal Pappalardo operated AAA for years and serviced my RPZ (back flow) valve for years at a reasonable cost. Each year he sent a reminder to test the valve and another reminder in the fall to remove the valve. Their service was great and I used them for other plumbing needs. This spring (2008) I called to have them service the RPZ valve and they said the charge would be $149. When asked about the much higher charge, they said Sal no longer owned AAA. I canceled the order and called another plumber on the referral list provided by the City of Jacksonville. The other tester charged $35 to test the valve. Needless to say, AAA is off my call list.

Called Arrow Plumbing, after having another plumbing company work on clearing my slow draining kitchen sink. Used Arrow specifically due to their website's slogan Straight Forward Pricing Get your price before we work and had a problem with the other company. When I made the appointment I was told that there was a $40 Service Call Fee which would be subtracted from my bill if I had work done. The plumber was on time for the service call. When explaining the previous company's work and the problem, I couldn't confirm that the plumber understood, because English is his second language. After 1 hours of work, my sink was draining and I was presented a bill of $337. Which was made up of: Sewer Machine $149, Sink Machine $99, Access Fee $49 and Dispatch Fee $40. When I questioned the bill, specifically the Dispatch Fee of $40, I was told that it would not be removed. When I questioned the Access Fee of $99, I was told that was the fee for opening up the trap to the sewer.
Description of Work: Main sewer line was cleared. Kitchen sewer line was cleared.

It is not often that we receive negative feedback on our service, but occasionally we do have a dissatisfied customer, and when we do, we take each case very seriously. Unfortunately, it has been 3 1/2 years since this call, and I have just now heard of the customer's experience (we only recently became aware of Angie's List). Regardless, I am very disappointed to read this customer's experience. While I am very pleased that we found his problem, (he mentions that another company was unsuccessful), I am very disappointed that he was surprised by his invoice. As he mentions, it is our policy to ALWAYS quote all fees in advance of performing the work. Any customer choosing to use our service can expect - even demand - to see the repair price BEFORE the work is done. Yes, we have a very small minimum charge that is quoted before we dispatch, but all other fees should have been communicated to him by the technician seeking his approval before we performed the work. I very much regret that this customer did not have a positive service experience. Incidentally, the technician found the interior line full of sludge, and the exterior line infiltrated by roots (both of which are pretty big problems), so I do not fault the previous plumber at all. I feel certain, though, that given an opportunity to correct it, the customer would have been well pleased with the result. Perhaps some day we will have an opportunity to assist him again. I hope so - we wish him well.

Very well. Workers were friendly. Explained everything I needed to know. Did the job in a reasonable amount of time. A small portion was missed. I called the next day to report the situation. I told them it was not a big issue & they could get to it whenever they had the time. They took it seriously & were correcting the situation within an hour. This showed the dedication to their work far more than anything else.

Max did a great job with what he had to work with. The home is circa 1952. The parts that we needed for the sink are out there but at a cost of 350+ dollars. It did not seem worth it. He was able to make the existing sink work with the new set and it is functional now. The water heater went great. No mess. They hauled the old one off, could not have asked for more. I supplied the tank to save some money. They were totally cool with that. The shower faucet went well too. Again we ran into some issues with the old set up vs. new standards. Overall a great job there though too. Max seems very honest and a pleasure to work with. Arrow needs to keep him around. This is the second time I have had him in my home to make repairs.
Description of Work: I needed a few things done. They replaced a hot water heater, a shower faucet and a sink faucet. The cork stops had to both be replaced on the sink. Not a surprise. The one to the toilet had come off only months earlier.

While we enjoy working for our customers, we must admit that a 2nd trip to clear a drain line is very disappointing. I was unable to find the reason for this return visit, but I agree with my customer - it is very inconvenient, and we deeply regret the necessity. Having said that, though, it was our pleasure to do so at NO CHARGE, as all our products and services are backed by the best warranties in our market. Incidentally, I'd like to thank this customer for having given us future opportunities to serve them. In spite of their disappointment with this incident, they have called us back to perform additional work, including installing faucets in the same bathroom where we cleaned their drains. Thank you - we very much appreciate your business. Should you allow us to, we will continue to serve you faithfully you for many years to come.
