Description of Work: Earlier in 2015 I hired Bradford painting. A very professional couple was sent. They painted hall, bathroom, and bedroom - walls and ceiling. They did a very good job and I was very pleased. So, when I was ready for more painting I called Bradford again. I was expecting the same level of work and I was extremely disappointed. The second job was for kitchen, hall, office, bedroom, and bathroom - walls and ceiling. It was a totally different experience the 2nd time. Here is a snippet of the letter I sent to Bradford painting with a partial payment. I ask for the owner to come and see the problems on more than one occasion, but he never came, nor did I receive a response to my letter. |1. The mess. Some of it was texture, some of it was paint, but I have spent several hours cleaning up paint. From my less than a week old hardwood floors in the office, to the stove, microwave, cabinets, light fixtures (in every room), hardware in the bathroom, and TV cabinet in the master bedroom. |2. The trash. In the master bedroom, when we went to move the desk back to the office ourselves, there were fast food bags and wrappers crumpled up on the desk, soda cups with liquid in them, water bottles both empty and still with water, power drinks or Gatorade type drinks left sitting around half full. Leaving this kind of trash anywhere is not professional, but eating in a client's house (bedroom) is beyond anything I've ever experienced. |3. The bathroom and hall that Nick came back to finish are still unfinished. Where before the 2nd coat was missing, it is now streaked and just areas that need the 2nd coat. |4. When surveying the job and what he was to do, I specifically pointed out 2 places where he was to leave the screws in the wall for a mirror and a shelf that were going back up. We specifically spoke about he was to remove all other nails, screws, things like that from the walls and fill in the holes. He did not do that. He painted right over them. |5. The towel racks, hooks, and lights were not pulled away from the walls before painting, but were just painted around. This has left paint on brand new light fixtures and hardware and the old stuff too. When previous crew was here they pulled everything away from wall to be painted and then returned when done. I will now have to scrape the paint off lights and fixtures. |6. You pointed out hours logged in your text message. The hours you have logged are different than the hours I have logged. First day Nick was late, was here about 5 minutes and left for court. This court appearance was known before you scheduled me to have painting done on the same day. We busted out and were prepared and ready for painters 8:00 am Monday morning. He returned after 11:00 am, and wanted to work late, but we had previous plans, so he left at 5:00 pm. The second day, his brother did show up before Nick, approximately 9:15, but he waited for Nick arriving to start work, about a half an hour after he arrived. In fact I didn't see the brother working at all. The times I saw him he was sitting. They also took an hour lunch break that day, that wasn't considered in the hours. They left shortly after 5:00. Wednesday it was Nick alone, arriving between 12:15 and 12:30 pm. He left shortly after 5:00 pm. You had told me 2-3 days for the job, I assumed 7 hours during normal business hours. Instead this disrupted our lives for the week and will be disruptive still until I can arrange to have painting completed. | |The first day he painted he covered and tarped everything before he started. The rest of the days he did not. I don't know why the change in procedure. And the fix he provided on Friday was done hurriedly and after paint drying it is not good. It is hideous. | |The job was never completed as the small hallway and master bathroom still need to be finished. Please feel free to stop and look at the unfinished mess left in my hall and master bathroom. It will be a few days before I can have it fixed. I truly did not get a professional painting job and so do not feel I should be charged professional painting prices. | |Turns out when they came to fix the mess in the bathroom and hall, they cleaned their equipment in my master bathroom sink and tub and did not clean it up. It was a gray paint. Equipment was not cleaned thoroughly and so gray streaks were left in all areas they 'fixed'. |
