My experience with Bud Anderson Heating & Cooling went very well. I had them out two years ago. I recently had another guy who was up in the attic and he told me Bud Anderson had made a mistake. I called them and they rectified it without any charge, even though it was done two years ago. I thought that was pretty unique.
Description of Work: They worked on the heating and air conditioning on two of my houses a few years ago and repaired a problem I had a few weeks ago.

They tried to sell me stuff I did not need and told me my system was broken and that it was going to be 8,000 dollars to fix it and I brought in another company I trust and they said no, there was nothing wrong with it at all. Be very careful about their sale tactics. They use aggressive misleading sales tactics.

Another company contracted our company to do a duct cleaning on 11/13/2012 at 11 Rockcliff. While servicing the unit our technician discovered cracks in the heat exchanger and a Freon leak. He then called for a senior technician to come onsite for a second opinion. The cracks were shown to the owner, pictures were taken (which we have attached to the customers file), the gas was turned off and the unit was red tagged. It was explained to the customer that running the unit unrepaired could result in serious health issues and injury or death. Our technician recommended replacing the heat exchanger or upgrading the unit. There are approximately 1500 deaths per year from faulty heat exchangers and countless carbon monoxide poisonings. Knowing that fact I would question why another company would put a customer at risk by telling them there is no risk. We put our customers and their families safety first.

He told us my mother in law she needed a new furnace and had her write them a check for $9000. and another contractor that went out there charged $60. to repair the furnace. It is still working. It didn't need to be replaced. WE felt that he was ripping her off.

Your member called us on February 25th 2012 at 2:20 am because she heard a bad noise in the outside heat pump. We sent technician Nick to her home at 7:34 am. Our technicians notes (which I will attach) clearly states that when he arrived the unit was running normally. Technician notes: WHEN I ARRIVED I TURNED ON HP AND IT RAN NORMALLY. I NOTICED THAT THE OUTDOOR FAN MOTOR IS LEAKING OIL AND THE EVAP COIL IS BADLY RUSTED OUT. BLOWER MOTOR IS SHOWING SIGNS OF LEAKAGE AS WELL,THERE IS A APRIL AIR HUMIDIFIER THAT IS CREATING FUNGUS IN THE AH. Our technician advised what repairs would be needed in the future and also advised that due to the system’s age and condition that replacement was also an option. Your member asked us to send a Comfort Advisor to give an estimate on replacing the system. Scott asked your member if they had anyone else that would need to be present and she said no. She decided on a system and wanted to give Scott a check at that time. We usually receive the payment after the work is complete so Scott contacted his supervisor and his supervisor told him to ask again if there was anyone else who needed to be involved and again was told no. When the son became involved we returned her original checks to her because we didn’t deposit them because of our concern. It is our policy to ask all customers if anyone else needs to be present, especially elderly customers, because we’d rather err on the side of caution and risk someone feeling insulted. We record all sales calls that come into our office but unfortunately this was on a weekend and did not come through our office. I cannot defend the quote to replace the system because we were never provided a copy of the other quote. Some companies do not replace the electrical disconnects and copper line sets or warranty the system for ten years like we do. A great deal of them don’t obtain the necessary permits to do the job as they don’t want their work inspected by the Building Department.

They did a really good job. There was a bit of clean up that they didn't perform, but other than that we were satisfied with what they did. They were very professional because, the way our system is set up, it's all in our basement or outside and there wasn't any damaged caused or anything. I like the workmanship. The man who came was very good. He answered all our questions and had a very good checklist.

Bud Anderson Tech was at our house for a long time, He wanted to test everything inside out. He said my 15 year old Trane Unit was in bad condition and it looked to him to be a fire hazard and was dangerous to use. He said there was so many problems and we may need to replace part of the Unit and that someone at the Bud Anderson office that does more expensive estimates would need to do a full estimate and they would send it to me the next day. The written estimate never showed up. I immediately called Air Control. He arrived the next day. Air Control Tech did a comprehensive inspection and replaced a relay switch outside. He thoroughly tested the unit inside and outside and could not find an electrical problem or a potential fire hazard. It has been a few weeks and the Heating Unit has worked perfectly. THANK YOU AIR CONTROL HEATING.
Description of Work: Outside heating unit froze up with ice. Tech was called out to give estimate. Estimate seemed very high. That is when I joined Angie's List, i am glad I dd.

Our technicians “test everything inside out” for the safety of our customers and for our own liability. That will never change and we should not be made to feel culpable for doing what’s right for the customer. We have responsibly identified the issues found with your members system (listed below). The other company has now assumed the liability by doing the last service on it and giving the system a clean bill of health. Aside from any safety issues our technician has identified causes for excessive utility bills and health issues from breathing unfiltered air. We too could have changed a part and been silent about the other serious issues but we choose to be the better company by informing the customer of the issues and options which allows them to make an informed choice. Technician findings: FOUND THAT THE DEFROST BOARD AND SENSOR IS FAILING. I HAD NO READING COMING OUT OF DEFROST BOARD AND SENSOR WAS FROZEN SOLID AND NOT READING THROUGH. FOUND THAT YOUR CRANK CASE HEATER AND OUT SENSOR IS READING TO GROUND. FOUND YOUR CONDENSOR COIL IS DIRTY AND NEEDS CLEANED. FOUND THAT YOUR EVAPORTOR COIL IS RETRICTED DUE TO IT BEING DIRTY. FOUND THAT THE BLOWER WHEEL AND ASSEMBLY ARE VERY DIRTY. FOUND THE BLOWER CAPACITOR IS WEAK BELOW 10% WHICH IS CAUSING DAMAGES TO THE BLOWER MOTOR. FOUND HEAT STRIP WIRE STARTING TO BURN AND CORRODE. FOUND FUNGUS STARTING TO GROW INSIDE OF THE AIR HANDLER. PRIMARY DRAIN PAN FULL OF DIRT. RETURN PLENUM NOT SEALED AND DRAWING AIR FROM THE WALLS AND POSSIBLY FROM THE ATTIC BYPASSING THE FILTER.

I had them do a heating checkup 6 months earlier. They had charged me $500 and replaced two 'capacitors' at $125 each. And tried to sell me 1) $2,000 air duct cleaning 2) $1,500+ filter upgrade. When they came back for the A/c checkup - the same technician came and said I needed to replace the 'capaciotors'. I pulled out the receipt and said he had changed them 6 months ago. He went out to his van for 10 minutes to check his records. (and probably call for help.) Then he came back and said he really didn't perform the checks, but his notes said the parts needed to be replaced from last visit. Then he told me I should start thinking about replacing all my working A/C units because they are old. I got another A/C company in to add some freon, and they worked great the rest of the summer. I would avoid these guys.

We performed a maintenance on this customers 3 indoor units on 1/28/2012 and found the units to be older, dirty and not previously maintained. The upstairs and downstairs units showed a weak reading on the blower capacitors. Weak capacitors will increase utility usage and wear and tear on the motor windings and will eventually cease working. The customer allowed us to replace them. We returned on 4/7/2012 to perform maintenance on the outdoor units. They are also older units and was very dirty. The dual run capacitors (not the same as blower capacitors) on the outdoor units were reading weak. This will cause wear and tear on the compressor and outdoor blower. We also found the units to be low on Freon. The customer did not want the dual run capacitors replaced and did not ask us to add Freon. The technician was informed that “they will hold off on repairs and wait until systems breakdown”. The customer that was at home was very interested in having the dirty ductwork cleaned and improve the filtration in the home but said they would have to talk to their spouse first. They did have us return on 2/6/2012 to add a 6” line to push more air into the game room. When there is a Freon leak we recommend repairing the unit rather allowing the Freon to escape into the atmosphere. If it’s an older until we will suggest replacing the unit. We will always present the issues and make our recommendations then do whatever the customer wants us to do. We have thousands of customers who choose to be proactive and then we have some that are not and during the summer peak season when their unit has been run into the ground and quits has to wait for days for a heat and air company to get to them because of the backlog. We have all the readings of the blower capacitors and dual run capacitors as our hand held devices record them at the time of the reading for anyone who would like to see them. They are also provided to the customer.

The service tech was extremely professional and polite and did a thorough job of measuring the area to be heat/cooled. I was very impressed with him but could not afford their estimate. He quoted almost double the price than what Paschal Heating and Cooling quoted so I had them install the unit. In all fairness, with Bud Anderson, you get a lifetime warranty but fork out the cost in the front end. If I planned on staying in this house longer than two more years, than I would have used Bud Anderson with the peace of mind knowing that they would have taken care of me as long as I was in this house.
Description of Work: I had them come out and give an estimate for a complete heating and cooling system. I am not sure about the date the tech came out other than it was in June.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback. I'm glad that you did see the value in our price and I understand your situation of moving. There are several reasons that our price may be higher than the others. We replace the line set and don't just blow it out (when accessible) we replace the electrical disconnect, ect. It's doesn't cost as much when other companies just cut the old one out and attach a new one. We could lower our prices by lowering our standards of quality, safety and comfort. But there's a reason that we have been voted NWA's favorite Heating & Cooling Company for over a decade and that reason is our high standards.

My wife and I own a rental house in Rogers, AR, and the air conditioning quit cooling. The renters called Bud Anderson, and the technician came up with an unreasonably high estimate to fix it, which included replacing perfectly good parts. I wrote an Angie's List review, and Bud Anderson answered with a smoke screen basically denying they had ever been there. I called another company, and they cleaned the air conditioner for $80.00 and it works fine. They replaced no parts. My recommendation to you is to avoid Bud Anderson like the plague!!!

This is a system that is 14 – 16 years old. Here are the notes from the technicians call: FOUND STAT NOT CALIBRATED TO CORRECT TEMP, BLOWER AND INDOOR COIL FILTHY AND COIL RUSTED BADLY. FUNGAL GROWTH IN FURNACE. CONDENSER FAN MOTOR LEAKING OIL AND CONTACTOR BURNT. Yes our technician did recommend replacing this system because the cost of cleaning and repairs were more than what a person should invest in a 16 year old system. BUT we quoted the cleaning/repair AND quoted the cost of replacing the old system. We provide all of the customers options and make our recommendations. Consumers should get more than 1 “apples to apples” quote and then make a knowledgeable decision based on their needs for quality or lowest bid.

AIPIt went just as they said it would, arrived on time, and finished up within the hour they said they would. They were some of the best workers we have ever had. Bud Anderson's Heat and Air lived up to the high praises that we received from other former customers of theirs. Good price, outstanding workmanship, great follow up. For heat and air work, I would NEVER use anyone other than Bud Anderson Heat and Air.
Description of Work: Our Heating unit went out on us without any warning. While Bud's was here They discovered the Air Condition`er was also going out on us, So we decided to replace both. They did it both at the same time, they did everything they said they would do. When they left they cleaned up everything. They wore boot covers anytime they came into the house and kept us informed on everything they were doing.

We have been servicing this member over a span of 6 years. There are 2 systems at this address. A 17+ year old heat pump and a 25+ year old heat pump and an air handler that may be well over 25 years old. We have replace a blower fan motor, capacitor and contactor, and Freon between the 2 systems. With equipment this old I don’t believe any technician was “focusing on expensive repairs” but was responsibly performing preventable breakdowns with the members approval. When the Blower fan motor was replaced it was during a service (trouble) call. I don’t know how it could be determined “later” that the repairs wasn’t a “necessity” if someone is taking reading off new parts and not the old ones. I don't believe the technicians did sloppy work as we hold an A+ rating with the BBB and have countless positive reviews from customers.

This call was booked as a service call and a $59 diagnostic was quoted and agreed upon. It is our Company policy to not give estimates to replace systems over the phone. Any honest contractor will not do that because of the risks that the right size unit may not have been installed the first time. We must determine if there are there any additions that affects the load placed on the unit. If contractors are quoting a replacement system over the phone without doing a Manual J load calculation on the home first that’s a major red flag. THE FRONT OF THE FURNACE IS ONLY ABOUT THREE INCHES FROM THE HOT WATER HEATER. FOUND THAT WITH A CALL FOR AC FROM THE THERMOSTAT THE SYSTEM WILL COME ON AND RUN. BUT THE OUTDOOR UNIT DOES OK WHILE IT IS COOLER OUTSIDE AND WHEN IT GETS WARM IT WILL NOT PRODUCE COLD AIR. I PUT MY GAUGES ONTO THE SYSTEM AND MY SUCTION PRESSURE WAS AT 112 LBS AND IT SHOULD BE AROUND 75 WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE VALVES ARE LETTING THE FREON BY AND IT IS NOT ABLE TO PUME WHEN THE DEMAND GETS STRONGER. I RECOMMEND TO REPLACE THIS SYSTEM. THE INDOOR UNIT WAS INSTALLED IN 2003 AND THE OUTDOOR UNIT WAS INSTALLED IN 1969 ABOUT 42 YEARS AGO.

They failed to return my first call. When I emailed, they promptly got in touch with me. They sent a technician to my house who took a quick look at my very old central heating unit and said it was kaput! They then sent a sales rep to my house. He was very good, and very good at hard sales techniques. He almost talked me into an $18,000 new heating and a/c system. And the system he hawked wasn't even top of the line!!! He also insisted that my existing ductwork needed replacement. After he very reluctantly left without a signed contract, I called a friend who had recently replaced his HVAC system. His contractor came to my house promptly, found a small problem with my very old heating unit, and fixed it for under $100. He also gave me an estimate for a system similar to that recommended by Bud Anderson. $8,000. And no, my ductwork didn't need replacing, he said. And, for the record, my very old heating and air conditioning units are still working just great!
Description of Work: I called this company, based on television advertisements, when I heating system quit working.

Here are the exact notes that was taken when the customer called in: CALL IN TAX MATCH NEWSPAPER, WILL BE MEETING WITH Member, HAS A 20+ YR OLD SYSTEM, HAD THE BELT REPLACED THIS PAST SUMMER, WANTS TAX CREDIT, GAS BILLS VERY HIGH, PLEASE GO TO THE CARPORT DOOR. QUOTED: 5 TON AND ALL NEW DUCT WORK 13500.00 MOM BACKED OUT AND SAID GET ANOTHER BID, WILL CALL BRANDON TOMORROW AND ADVISE. We never sent a technician to that address because she did not call for service. The call was for an estimate to replace the system. The small problem the other contractor found is irrelevant because we was not asked or paid to diagnose why her 20+ year old system was not working. We have been to that address one time and only one person from this company was there and that was our salesman. The estimate was $13,500 not $18,000 and that was to replace the complete system, ductwork, lineset, disconnect, ect.

Our AC went out, so I called the company who installed our unit. They were booked and couldn't come out for two days. I called Bud Anderson, and they said they could be right out. A technician arrive on time and began to look at the unit outside. After examining our outside unit and talking with his supervisor, he came to our door to tell us the news - our capacitor, compressor, and refrigerant needed to be replaced. Total price would be just under $3300. He told us we might should consider having the whole unit replaced. He said that they could send someone out to give us an estimate. Within two hours, he showed up. He looked at our entire system both outside and in the attic. He looked at all the venting and returns, measured each room in the house, and plugged everything into his computer. He then wrote down everything on a sheet of paper that explained the pricing. He gave us pricing to replace everything - the outside unity and the entire attic unit which included both AC and heat. The silver level started at about $12,000; the gold level went to about $18,000; and the platinum level went to $24,000. On a scratch sheet of paper, he showed me a bronze level that started at $9000. We were concerned about the price and sought the advice of other AC technicians. With their advice, we decided to just replace the capacitor, and our AC has run well since. I wrote an initial review expressing some concern. Bud Anderson quickly contacted me expressing their desire to address my concerns and show that their company seeks to give their customers the highest level of service with integrity and customer satisfaction. The service manager came to our house to give a second look at our unit and to do everything he could to make sure I was satisfied with their service. Our compressor was determined to be weak and will eventually need to be replaced; a little different take than the first technician that examined our unit. I greatly appreciate all of the extra effort. They definitely went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied. Thank you, Bud Anderson.
Description of Work: Our AC went out, so we called Bud Anderson for service.

They are scammers and I cannot say enough about them. The price was supposed to be just 35 $ but they ended up charging me 490 $. They told me that my heating and air condition system was out when it was working fine. They did not check anything as it was pretty hot in the attic. They ended up damaging my property by opening up the air conditioning box outside. He tried to cheat me telling me about various damages which were not even there as it was a brand new unit. He told me I had to have a brand new unit when there was nothing wrong in the first place. I just told him it was glad he told me about it since my system was still under warranty. By that time when I returned he told me he figured out that was not actually the problem and the reason he did that was because the company would have to pay for a brand new one. They try to take advantage of old women like me and women who do not know any difference. He spent the spent the first thirty minutes telling me why it was so important to have their contract every year. They were punctual and showed up when they said they would. I would not use them again in the future and I would warn others against using them.
Description of Work: I was supposed to use Bud Anderson Heating & Cooling to just check my air conditioner out and to see if the filters were clean.

We was contacted by this customer to do an advertised special of $34.95 A/C tune-up. That work was performed on May 27, 2009. Her system was 4 years old and we did not install it and had never done work on it prior to that day. Here is the information the customer relayed to our call center: $34.95 PC A/C TUNE UP. UNIT?/ 4 YRS. NEW CUST. ALSO, A MORON PUT HER UNIT IN, ETC. & SHE THINKS DUCT WORK MAY NOT BE RT. NEEDS EST ON DUCT WORK. HOUSE IS DUSTY & SHE THINKS WASPS ARE COMING IN THRU' DUCTS- CUST CALLED XXX-XXXX HOME IN YARD. Our technician made some repairs with the customers permission. It was also low on Freon which she declined. Our technician would never tell someone with a four year old unit that required $377 worth of repairs that the unit needed to be replaced. We have over 4,000 customers with Maintenance Agreements (several of which would probably consider themselves as seniors) and they have had them for several years. If we did business as the customer claims, we would not have thousands of repeat customers. I think the one’s that took advantage of the customer was the person who installed her system. When you hire fly by night companies who don’t have required licenses, insurance or pull the necessary permits you have little recourse when you discover what a bad job they’ve done.
