I got very good experience with them. They come when they say they are going to. The gentleman that came was very nice and very knowledgeable. The only complaint is I do think they are on the high side. I get what I pay for sometimes too. I do think their price is high. I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Bud Anderson Heating & Cooling put in a whole new heating and air conditioning system for me. They also put in new duct work underneath and over the house. They just came and did their 6 months checkup. I have been using them for 15 to 20 years ever since I moved into this house.

We didn't have anything else done because they were overpriced and always try to do more than what was needed. They tried to sell us more so we didn't use them again. My husband didn't agree with all the repair work so he called another company. Some of the work needed to be done but some of it did not.

We don't pay as they come out because we're on a regular plan where they come out twice a year to service our unit. They do a great job. They show up on time and they don't leave any mess around. They're very polite and courteous; we wouldn't have them in our house if they weren't. They've been coming out for several years now. They always call and they show up when they said they will. I have no complaints at all about the company or the service.
Description of Work: We have them come on a regular basis. They maintain the two heat pumps; they clean the pumps and check to make sure that they're running correctly.

They are fantastic. When we bought our unit from them a couple of years ago, we bought a service plan, that covers the service twice a year. They are pricey. Their customer service is wonderful, and we couldn't ask for better, they are not the cheapest.

We would never call them for service again. They said the air conditioner and furnace both needed to be replaced and it was going to be $16,000 dollars and we didn't have that kind of money. We still have the same furnace and air conditioner. We just recently had someone out to look at our air conditioner and make sure everything was okay and he said that it's fine. If we would have believed Bud Anderson's crew four years ago, we would have spent $16,000. I would never recommend them to anybody.

The people that owned the house before had signed up for service that was transferable and its transferred to us and we have had Bud Anderson Heating & Cooling over and it was satisfactory. The service was just fine. They came whenthey said they were going to, it took them a couple of hours and that was it.
Description of Work: We had called them and they sent their serviceman over to do an inspection at no cost. He found just a couple of small things. They put in some kind of a filter. It was a small inexpensive service. It seemed to me it had something to do with some kind of a filter for molds.

Our service was as it always is with Bud Anderson-Excellent: Our technician called before he arrived and he was friendly, knowledgable and was finished with our service promptly. He even went that extra mile and helped me chase one of my dogs that escaped the house that had been injured and wasn't suppose to be running. I'm always asked at the end of the visit if there's anything else that I need done or if I have any questions about my service or my system. I've enjoyed working with Bud Anderson Heating and Cooling since the first day we bought our first BA system.

Slow to get parts. Was supposed to call back with information the next morning. I had to call them after lunch because they did not contact me. Rates are very high. They quoted one price and then when they called back tried to raise the price. This was after I had already been waiting a couple of days for them to get parts and get me scheduled for the repair. Try negotiating if you must use them.

Other people had used them and so that is why I called them. I cannot say enough good about these people. Their help has been wonderful. I would rate them all "A's." They installed a system for me that is guaranteed for life. As long as I am here in this house they will come and replace this system if anything breaks or needs replacing. It works more efficient and it also includes a twice a year service where they come and service the system, and that lasts for five years and after that I will have to pay for that service. They will come within 24 hours in response to your call for service. I also upgraded a lot of things too. Right now I have a zone system. Initially, I had asked the other company for a different thermostat on each level so that I could program and they said no we cannot do that, you will have just one. So, when I asked them they said they can do that and then they gave me these little thermostats that I have on each level that I program. I did pay extra for an air cleaner system, it is electrostatic and takes out bacteria in the air and that was an extra $1700 into the actual price. I got everything I wanted and it seems really like it was worthwhile. If the repair is going to have a delay they will put you up in a hotel for free. They have been so professional. I have been really impressed because starting from the initial person that came out up to the technician who came out and looked at everything were really good and really thorough. I then decided may be I need to replace the system, so he said okay and he sent a salesperson and that salesperson was really good. He gave me the options and the different prices, they had different levels in pricing and we ended up taking that top level because of the guarantees for life. It is a more energy efficient unit. Then the installers came and they were great. They were two of them. So, every single person I have met from them they have been very professional. Regarding price, they are not the cheapest but you get the best value. When they come in the house they put these covers over their shoes. When they are finished they come and they say "is there anything else, are you satisfied, etc.," they are just so great. I would like to recommend them to everybody.

The estimator came out and diagramed the work to be done and gave the price. When the teck arrived he had no clue as to the work to be done nor had the parts to repair. After that was cleared up work was not completed as estimated and after complaints ( left on machine) no response. I willnot recommend.

I’m sorry your experience with us was unpleasant. You requested a refund of the diagnostic which we promptly gave to you. I reviewed the worksheet the technician gave you and it had listed two options for repair. Therefore I don’t understand where the statement of “wasn’t fixable” came from. Again I am sorry that there was obviously a miscommunication which lead to you not being satisfied.

If it's the middle of summer and your AC goes out, Bud Anderson will send someone to help when others can't. However you will be top dollar. I needed a new power box/cord for the outdoor unit. The preferred "gold" rate was $257. The work was completed and the AC was working again. I called the office later to complain about the price of the repair. The lady I spoke with consulted with the man who did the repair while I was on the phone and he instantly remembered that he was able to use part of my existing setup. This resulted in a $90 refund on the spot. Conveniently, the repairman didn't have this revelation while he was doing the actual repair. As evidenced by my experience and several other negative reviews on this site, I believe this company is taking advantage of people. They must pay their employees a commission based on what they sell. I will only use them as a last resort.

I’m sorry that this happened to you and thought that you was satisfied with the resolution. I assure you that the technician did not do it intentionally. He reported to the Service Manager that he was not sure that he charged you correctly because only a portion of the task was done. Our accounting department checks all invoices to ensure the customer was charged correctly and if a mistake was made we issue a check immediately. When you called us we had no problem and did not even hesitate to refund you promptly. Again we regret that our technician made a mistake on your invoice.

What a scam! What was supposed to be a routine annual servicing of my heat and air conditioner, which they reported were working well, turned out to be "I need to replace my entire ductwork". The technician showed me photos of supposed "fungus, mold and other dirt/debris", which of course concerned me. This was followed by a meeting with their salesman the next day. Before the salesman arrived, I had done considerable research on ductwork as well as the two additional devices they also advised I had to have in addition to new ductwork (a polarized Air Cleaner and UV/Ozone Germicidal Air Purifier), all to the tune of $8,300.00. Naturally, I got a second opinion, this time from someone that has a reputation in our community of being very fair and honest. He indicated my ductwork was perfectly fine and did NOT advise me to replace it. He was however perplexed as to why there was a knife slit in ductwork tubing. It was very obvious that the Bud Anderson HVAC tech that took the pictures, could only do so by slicing it open to take the pictures, and left it as is without repairing the slit opening. Unbelievable! I would not have known this had I not obtained a second opinion, who of course repaired that section of the ductwork and refused to charge me for it. Also, as a side note, the $900.00 "polarized Air Cleaner" they quoted me that I HAD to also have, I found it online directly from the company that makes this for $295.00. Consumers, I have learned a VERY valuable lesson. Don't ever assume a family-owned HVAC company that's been in business for 45 years as reputable. One can certainly understand HOW they've managed ot be in business this long with SCAMS such as this.

We went to your clients home on September 17, 2013 to perform an Air Conditioner and Furnace tune-up and safety inspection. Your client expressed to our technician that she had hot/cold spots throughout her home and has had a problem with dust for the past eleven years. Our technician took pictures of sagging flex duct chocked off by hanging strap reducing airflow to areas of the home, which causes the hot/cold spots, reduces system efficiency, and shortens the lifespan of the system. He also took pictures of fungus growing in the supply plenum along with other white debris, a severely dust impacted return which recirculates the dust throughout the home every time the blower motor runs. Our technician suggested (in writing) three options. First option was Do Nothing. Second option was replace old flex duct. Third option was replace flex duct with hard metal duct. Your client wanted to talk to our Comfort Advisor at that time. Our company has never told a customer that they had to have Indoor Air Quality products. When they inform us of the issues in their home, we investigate and recommend solutions. Also manufactures install access doors on evaporator coils and over furnace blower compartments so there would never be a need to create a small knife hole to take pictures. We would have done whatever the customer had requested us to. We provided her with the information she requested and offered solutions. Our technicians have a lot of pride in what they do and would not look at all those duct issues and tell a customer everything is fine. We have the pictures and documents to show that we did the right thing. I regret that there are companies in our area that would tell a customer that sagging ducts that are chocked off by hanging straps and dust impacted returns, and fungus and debris in the supply plenum “was perfectly fine”.

We had the same experience with this company that many other reviewers have had. They offered us what we thought was a $49.95 'service special' which turned out to be an inspection only visit designed to terrify us into purchasing a new heat pump system. They reported that we were 3 lbs low on refrigerant, that our duct work was crooked, that our coils were rusted, that we had loose insulation and that there was fungus growing in the attic. They then recommended that we replace our heat pump. We stated that the system was still cooling and didn't think we needed to replace it immediately. They then suggested that we at least add refrigerant (at $70/lb) and do some other maintenace work for a total cost of $1500. We also agreed to meet with their estimator and discuss costs for replacing the entire system. We did this several days later and were given the following estimates for a 1900sq ft, single-story dwelling: $14,000 (low), $17,000 (medium) and $22,000 (high). Of course, we were in shock and stated that we would be getting additional estimates from other companies. I started asking around and ended up with another company who trys to salvage systems before replacing them. They ended up adding refrigerant for $30/lb and repaired the loose insulation for a total cost of $200. No mention of rusting coils, crooked duct work or fungus. They indicated that our current system might have to be replaced within 1-2 years and that they could install a good system for approximately $9.000. The moral to this story....always get 2nd and 3rd estimates on high ticket items!

When the technician saw that the unit was frozen, he stated that he could not complete his diagnostics, but he tried to sell us a new unit for $10,000. When I asked how he would know that we needed a new unit if he was unable to complete the diagnostic, he stated that the unit was 17 years old and probably needed replaced. I suggested that it would be better if he actually completed his inspection and gave us other options. He said that he could stay and chip the ice away from the unit, but that he would have to charge a large hourly amount to finish the job that he came there to do. I reminded him that the reason we called him was because his office had told me that there would be a flat service charge of $75 and that he was not supposed to charge us anything above that price unless he added refrigerant or parts. He began making excuses and I said again that I had asked several times about the policy and was told that there would be absolutely NO hourly charges. So eventually, he did offer to come back the next day, when the ice would be melted, without another service charge. The following day was Father's Day, so we suggested that he come back on Monday rather than on the holiday. On Monday, he was punctual. He took another quick look at the unit and said that the coil was rusted and that it would be very expensive to replace and again suggested that we buy the new $10,000 unit. We paid the service call amount and decided to get another opinion. We go two other estimates that ranged from $6,000 to $8,000 for a new unit. The company that we ultimately decided to go with said that the coil was not rusted. In fact, he said that the coil is copper and doesn't rust. He suggested charging the unit with refrigerant with a dye agent that would detect exactly where the leak is located. He also said that it may work with the charge for quite a long time. It's been almost a month and it's still working fine. If it leaks again and we decide to go with the new $6,000 unit (a savings of $4,000), he will credit us the entire price we spent with him for the service call and refrigerant off the cost of the new unit. The Bud Anderson technician appeared to ONLY be interested in selling a new, overpriced unit rather than determine what the real problem was and give us options.
Description of Work: Checked A/C system that was freezing at the inside and outside unit. He visually inspected the unit, ran a meter across the line that was supposed to help detect a leak, stated that the unit was too frozen to complete his diagnostic and suggested that we buy a new unit. He offered to sell us a new unit and install it for $10,000.

I misunderstood the deal. I did not realize it was just an inspection not any AC service so I was disappointed. They were prompt, courteous, and professional. But my difficulty was that I felt uncomfortable about how much of a sales pitch there was. They really wanted me to sign up for a yearly contract. I felt like it was a big sales pitch and it made me feel uncomfortable. They were extremely responsive.

I apologize about the misunderstanding. We did briefly run the $49 inspection but have withdrawn it because of that confusion. Our technician was trying to explain that keeping the unit clean makes it more efficient and that finding small problems before they become big problems is what regular maintenance is about, coupled with the discounts on repairs. I hope we can earn your future business.
