HOMEYER LAWN SPRINKLER LLC

My realtor referred me to Steve Homeyer for a major drainage repair in the yard of my new home. He came out in mid-April to provide an estimate. This repair was the most important one to me and my husband since it affected the long-term viability of our home. After Steve provided the estimate, he was no longer responsive to anyone. He didn't show up to do the work as scheduled on May 9. He didn't call to explain. My realtor went through her broker, who was finally able to contact Steve. I was told he planned to do the repair in the coming week. Little did I know that this was only the beginning of the "wait and see" song and dance. Although none of the other many contractors I've worked with had been this unprofessional, I decided to give Steve another opportunity since it was my understanding at the time that there were very few specialists in lawn drainage in this area so they tended to be overbooked (not actually true). It was a big mistake to have continued giving this guy multiple chances. Between 5 and 10 times now, Steve has given vague indication that the job would be done at the end of the current week or early the following one (it's now June 14). Steve never shows or calls to explain why he can't make it. When my husband talks with him on the phone, Steve appears to have forgotten who we are and what the job entails. Angela answers the office phone but makes the same false promises as Steve every time. I've since had several other specialists come out to provide quotes and they are much higher than Steve's. They have been able to eyeball the area and know that his approach could never solve the problem. It's been really disappointing to have this experience with Homeyer and feel like I've been misinformed from the beginning about the actual cost to address the issue. Don't waste your time.

I called two weeks ago to have a leak in my sprinkler system looked at. I had used these guys before and was happy with the service then. Was told they were very busy and couldn't get to me that day (a Monday) but would call me on Wed or Thursday to set something up. Friday was a holiday (fourth of July) so I waited until the next Monday to call again. He said he'd come Monday or Tuesday. On Friday (The 10th) I called again. Was told he'd come by that afternoon. No show or call. I'm done.

I made the appointment with Homeyer on June 6, 2013 to check my sprinkler system that is not working. I was given a block of time of 12 noon to 4 on june 12 as my appointment. My sister took off work to stay home to wait for the service person from Homeyer. She called them periodically as so do I. I did not succeed intalking to anyone but left two messages; the last one after I found out that no one showed up and my sister was waiting in vain more than half a day. Mysister succeeded once before the end of our block of appointment time in talking to a person and told the person that no service personnel had shown up thus far. She gave the individual at Homeyer her cell phone number. The person promised someone will call her back but none did. I called Homeyer this morning, June 13, and told the woman who answered the phone (sounded like the same one who made the original appointment for me) that no one showed up on our appointment day on June 12. She took my phone number and said she would ask the owner to call me back. No one has called me in the past two hours. Due to its track record from yesterday, I am not hopeful at all that I will get a call. So I decide to call a different company and get the appointment scheduled.

Their price was a lot more than the company I went with.

It was pretty good. I wasn't that satisfied, because one place doesn't seem to to get the right amount of water on it. Some minor details need to be worked on.

We have had a drainage problem since we have lived here due to the fact that we live on the side of a hill. Our yard was slowly being washed down the hill and against the back privacy fence. We had upwards of a foot of dirt piled up against the fence. Also when we had very hard rains the water would come down the hill so fast that it would flood the neighbors back patio and on several occasions come close to flooding their home. We had John Beneke, landscape architect, come out and draw up the landscape design. He recommended Homeyer Lawn Sprinkler (Steve) as he felt very confident in his work. Are we glad we did!! Steve was very professional and the way he worked caused very little disruption in our daily lives. Due to the fact we were on a budget we asked Steve to give us a line item breakdown of the job so we would know what we could do now on our budget and what would have to wait. Fortunately his bid came in at less than what we had budgeted so we were able to get everything done. When Steve does a job he does it a section at a time so as not to have your entire yard torn up at once. He started at the furthest corner of the yard and worked his way out. Everyday before his crew left they made sure everything was cleaned up and the material for the job was put away so that the neighborhood would not have to see a big miss as the job progressed. One thing that really impressed me with Steve is that he stuck with his bid and did not try to come back and give excuses as to why he might have to go up on it as I have had other contracters do on other jobs. We did have one add on which was repairing a portion of the sidewalk which was done toward the end of the job. Even though I think our job had turned into a little more than he originally expected he quoted a fair price for the sidewalk repair. The job did take a little longer than expected but with outside jobs this is kind of expected. This summer was one of the worst we have had in a long time and on some of the hotter days his crew would only work half days due to the heat. We did not have a problem with this as the heat was unbearable and safety was paramount. In closing I would highly recommend Homeyer Lawn Sprinklers for any landscaping, irrigation, and sprinkler jobs. We were very pleased with the look of everything once he was done. We would use them again without hesitation.
