The experience for the insulation was not bad. However Mr. Smith did install the insulation. Supposedly someone named Danny Timms came and did this portion of the work. However Mr. Smith worked feverishly that day to complete work in the attic that included putting in additional A/C-Heating duct work and cutting holes for the vents. I believe the insulation truck showed up on time, as scheduled, did their job and left. I fully believe it Mr. Smith had been doing, this would not have been done accurately or timely or possibly not completely at all.

Mr. Smith came to our house and reviewed the projects we wanted done which included minor remodeling of a 1/2 bath, a complete gut and remodel of the full bath, putting a metal roof on the house and garage, replacing an old wooden window in our daughters room and making our currently screen in back porch into a family room/part of the living area. He quoted the project materials and labor for $15,000 with a time frame of 3-4 weeks. He came neatly dressed and presented himself as someone who owned multiple companies throughout the state that did siding, roofing, remodeling, insulation and so on. My first concern was that he came in a small older Chevy car and had a full set of "Bubba" teeth. He also lived an hour and a half from the work site. However he seemed very knowledge of what we needed/wanted and he came highly recommended by my husband's boss. His prices were also very reasonable compared to other quotes we had gotten from local contractros. He quoted by the job and was not being paid by the hour. Initially he was very responsive to us, answering our questions, making suggestions and taking an active part in getting this project started. We agreed that we would supply the materials except for the roofing materials and that he could buy various other materials that might be needed on our account at the local lumber company in town. Once he knew we were going to use him, he immediately demanded $1000 as a retainer fee. This made me very uncomfortable but we took the money from our savings account and paid him. As soon as we could get the money from the loan, he was paid $3200 for the roofing material and $2800 labor on 6/7/11. He ordered the roofing on 6/9/11 and it would be ready on 6/20. He began working the week of 6/13. He assisted my husband with installing a hot water heater and a new garage door (issues that came up unexpectedlly) and began the demo on the back 1/2 bath. We left for vacation on 6/21 and returned home to a big mess on 6/24. He had started a little bit of each project, part of the roof was on, part of the back bath was done and part of the front bath was demoed. The project went down hill FAST from there. Each week he only came to work a few days a week. He might work 8 hours or 2 hours. If he was distracted or mad, he did not do any type of quality work. He also wanted money every week, the first amount needed was $1200, then $600, then $300. Also he did not have a regular crew that worked with him. Every day different people came with him and none of them could do anything without his guidance. He brought his uncle, his nephew, his 3 kids, a female friend he did not want his wife to know about and then some days the whole family came, the wife and kids. The day he would ask for money was one of the days he showed up at deceit time and work the hardest. Also during this time, he purchased a miter saw on our account at the lumber company. The cost was $271. We also learned that he overcharged us for the roofing material and had pocketed $620. At the beginning of the 7th week of the project, with no one job completely finished, we told him there wasn't any more money for him. The rest of the money had to go to pay for materials. As soon as he was told that he got very mad, took all of his tools (included the miter saw he had purchased on our account and that we had paid for) and left. He would not respond to our phone calls or text messages. Late that evening he returned our call and said he would be back to finish the work the next day. This was on 7/27. The work he done that day was AWFUL. He damaged everything he touched that day. Things are held together with gorilla glue and caulk and the biggest screws you can imagine. Trim was cut too short, sheet rock walls were not mudded thoroughly, holes are cut too big. He came back on Thursday 7/28. He got here around 10:30 in the morning and I came to the house around 11:20. He was gone to get something from the lumber company. Sp I looked around to see what he had done.....not much. When he came back, he sat down on the side of the bathtub and began putting on the toilet paper holder. There was plaster to be put up, trim to put down, cabinets to finish installing, roofing work to complete, a vent fan to correctly install and various other jobs that needed to be done. When I confronted about him why he was doing something that simple instead of doing the hard stuff that needed to be done, he became very defenisve and said he was trying to finish up this job. That's when I told him he was done, to get his tools and leave. So 7, almost 8 weeks later, we have spent $14,900 on 3/4 of the project, None of the projects are completely finished and what is done is going to have to be redone. The back porch project has not even been touched. I now have to hire someone to come in and finish these jobs, except now they include fixing what he has messed up or half-way done. We were doing this to improve our home and add value and all he has done is demolish everything. I am not pleased with anything and would not recommended this guy to anyone! He is not what claims to be and does not do good work. He is a liar and a cheat. He will rob you blind and leave you with a mess. Oh and speaking of messes, I had to clean up after them both inside our house and outside every day they worked. They ate food out of my refrigerator, watched my TV.....just made themselves right at home. Telling him to leave was the best thing I've done so far on this project. I am so infuriated that this crook has rob us of our hard earned money. My advise to never considering using Danny Smith from the Hoxi/Walnut Ridge, AR area. He is a thief, liar and cheat!!!!!
