NOT GOOD. He did not supervise his workers. Very sloppy. They made mistakes and my home still isn't fully fixed. My flooring has chips and puddy filled gaps. (this was simple click and lock flooring that he had his layman install instead of a flooring person) Also, short cut areas where they filled with calking. They had to repair my floor 3 times in ONE area and it still isn't right and it looks worse than at first. At every turn they were sloppy and just didn't care. AFTER the fact (this was an insurance claim) I found out he received money for things we don't have and he didn't do. He told me $1.89 a sq ft flooring was not "in my budget" so I received $1.25 sq ft flooring and HE received approx. $2.80 sq ft from the insurance company. (that is base price...he received almost $6.00 sq ft with labor and such) Also, i traded texture on my ceilings (which we scraped) and walls in place of new cabinets. We fixed old ones (which bought at home depot would have been around $1800) and I painted them. He claimed almost $5,000 on these cabinets and received that money. These cabinets are plain model from home depot. My entire kitchen didn't cost what he claimed. NOT EVEN CLOSE. He claimed countertop, which we don't have and he lost our $300 water filter. I have never seen it again. When we contacted him the final time, we received a threatening letter from his lawyer and he accused us of trying to "extort money" because we went to the attorney general for resolution. He lied to my face on occasions and he treated me with disrespect at times. He allowed men in my home when I was told it would only be him and his foreman. That was the agreement and he didn't inform me until my friend happen to stop by and he called immediately after wanting to know if they were checking up on things. He was not even in my home at that time. I have pictures and documentation to back this up. This job took from last of January-May 30. This is something that is minor repair for most part and even for busy contractors should only take a month. We waited 3 weeks for trim to come in and it had not been ordered. WE had to call to find this out. He would have never checked I suppose?! So many things I could say......I will just leave you with this..........DO NOT allow Wallis Construction or any other contractor to deal directly with your insurance. GET a detailed contract and keep all control of money and demand receipts. DO NOT JUST TRUST they care or have your best interest at heart or that they are honest. PLEASE learn from my nightmare. I would NEVER EVER EVER use Wallis Construction again!!!!! I have only stated facts. I have documentation and photos to back all of this up. I will not be silenced by him trying to scare me. As a consumer I have the RIGHT to share my experience. I have rights. I hope my story can keep someone from making the same bad choice I did.

We used Wallis construction for an addition on to our house. Most of the contractors he hired (electrician, plumbing, ext.) we're great and on time. But the actual construction took forever because he was trying to do too many jobs at one time. Made us feel like we weren't important. We had no use of one of our major rooms during the time because of it. It took a few months to get done, which is shouldn't have. And we had to do a lot of the clean up cause the guys didn't seem to think it was urgent to clean up their mess. The quality of work was pretty good. I still have complaints, but overall it was a nice addition/remodel.

I contracted with this builder to have a house built. It took two+ years and I had continual problems with subcontractors. One had to be escorted off the property by the county sheriffs officers after a discussion about the poor quality of his workmanship and threats to "rip these counter tops out tonight" . On his way out he damaged a wall buy slamming open a door. Another subcontractor locked my dog in the house over the weekend without food or water. The dog spent a day and a half trying to claw his way out. It also took twice the estimated cost to complete the project. This was NOT due to significant changes in the original plan or extravagent additions after the initial estimate. Mr. Wallis would send out a crew for a day or two then I'd not see anyone for weeks. At one point I hired a mold specialist to check the framing since it has been in the weather for months during which it was rained on repeatedly. That cost an additional $2500.00 for mold remediation. On occasion would "show up" in the middle of the day and find the crew goofing around or building a fire pit to cook lunch on. And this was on MY time. Mr. Wallis rarely came to the work site to supervise or check on his crew. I asked him repeatedly to have the crew clean up after themselves. They would just throw trash on the ground, drop scraps everywhere and make no attempt to keep the work site picked up. I'm currently on set two of tires due to nails left on the ground. After living in the house for two years, I'm still finding problems not to mention that they never returned to complete the "bucket list". I would NEVER use this contractor again!
Description of Work: I contracted with this builder to have a house built. It was not a complicated house albeit an unusual one. No interior walls, simple open box with numerous huge windows and a loft and two silo structures attached for the bathrooms, laundry and garage.
