Our house had the air conditioning quit working so we decided to give Curtis Heating and Air a call. That was a terrible decision. We called at 2 P.M. and were told we were put on a priority list because we had no air blowing. We decided to call back at 5:02 and they said "you caught us as we were just closing. We can do an after hours repair for a charge of 200$". It was 95 degrees in the house so we decided to do it. The technician came out after 2 hours and cleaned my A/C unit with my hose and checked a few things and told me my A/C was fine. We were told the problem was that we needed to hit the reset switch. We felt dumb but our A/C was on so we paid 300$ and that was it. Over the course of the next week the reset switch needed to be flipped more and more. I called Curtis Heating and Air a week after the first visit and was told a technician could be sent out for a "similar charge" as last time. I said "I will be charged 300$ again even though it wasn't fixed the first time"? The guy proceeded to give a happy tone and say " yeaaaaah, that sounds about right". He then said " It may even cost more if it's a different thing needing repaired". Keep in my nothing was diagnosed or fixed. He hit a restart switch and told me my A/C looked fine. I called back a few days after that and was hoping to talk to someone else on the phone that didn't seem like they were just trying to squeeze every cent out of me. A lady answered this time. She was kind but informed me that my card on filed had been shredded and needed a new one on file before coming out. I give up on this company. I was expecting them to do what's right and at least tell me what's wrong with my A/C after being charged 300$. I would avoid this company at all costs!

They are very good and are good people. They are friendly and willing to help. Once they gave advice on an outside boiler fired with wood. They have gone above and beyond and I would recommend them.

badly. The Heat Pump system has had continuous problems since Curtis did their "repairs". Thermostat wiring was exposed to the elements without tape or wire nuts causing the blower motor to start and stop until that problem was found, Heat strips were coming on when they should not or not at all because of a bad sequencer and the system is leaking Freon... all this after Curtis claimed to have fixed the unit. As old with as the system is, the service man should have determined what was needed to properly repair the unit then contacted me as i requested and a determination made at that time on repairing or replacing the unit. i have never had a worse experience with a contractor or repair service.
Description of Work: Replaced a compressor and other parts without consultation. older heat pump system and I requested contact from the serviceman.when he arrived onsite for 3 days in a row. Was promised he would call-every day for 3 days he never did. The serviceman replaced parts without discussion with me or authorization and the bill was outrageous.

This subcontractor wanted to install a system in my home that was not only too large but was over priced. He made numerous excuses, continued to claim that I would find that he was right. I felt that he wanted to scare me into having him install this system at his much higher price. When I fired him. he became rude and obnoxious.
Description of Work: This company was a sub-contractor on a new home and was to install central air and heat pump.

We did get a refund for the service charge for $37.80, but I still think the charge of $61.86 was too much for less than five minutes of work that should not have happened in the first place. They put this furnace in new less than four years ago. We have had to call them two times since. The first time costs was $237.38. We paid that one without complaining. This time he charged $99.66 for putting a loose wire back on, a wire that should never have come off in the first place. Only after I called the owner and complained that the charge was too much, did I get the refund.
Description of Work: We had them put in a new furnace four yrs. ago. Since then, we have had to call them twice to come out. The first time after the new furnace was installed, we had a power surge and they had to come out and fix it. They charged us $237.38 for that trip. The next time, the heat would come on, but no heat was coming out. We called them and they came right out. He wasn't in the basement three minutes. The problem was that the igniter wire was loose. He put it back on and that was it. He charged $99.66. I called the owner and complained that I thought it was too much. He told me how much it cost for him to run his truck and to pay his worker and his insurance etc. I told him I could name off my bills if he liked. I wanted him to make a profit, but I thought this was way out of line. He agreed to refund me the service charge, which he did. We received a check for $37.80. Their office is only about a half a mile from our home. He was here less than five minutes. I still think the charge was too much and from now on I will use another company.
