Description of Work: They installed a Lenox gas fireplace in the basemant of our house. The installation seemed to go OK but then we had problems with smells and excessive sooting of the unit. It took them over a month to come back out to even look at the unit. They were hard to contact on the phone about our problem and then lectured me for being angry on the phone with an employee after I had been waiting for over a month. When they did come out they adjusted the placement of the logs and corrected a propane gas leak. The unit still was sooting up so they had a distributer's rep come down from Missouri. This took about another couple of weeks for him to show up. He was able to get the sooting problem corrected but while he was there I noticed that there a 3/8" gap around the vent pipe where it penetrated the basement wall to the outside creating a large draft of outside air to come into the room. I did not bother to contact them about this and sealed it myself. I own a small business and am sympathetic with the problems of running a small business, but I found their response to my problems unacceptable. |

Description of Work: I contacted the company for a chimney sweep and inspection. They did a thorough sweep and inspection of the inside and outside of my chimney as well as my insert. The men representing the company explained what they did and what shape my chimney was in as well as recommendations on maintaining a healthy flue.

Description of Work: The two men who came took great care to make sure that no soot got in our house while they were sweeping our chimney. We had never had this done before, and were concerned that our house (which my wife had just cleaned the day before) would need to be cleaned again. But they installed a "shield" which protected the surrounding area from dust and soot, then cleaned up the area with a vacuum afterward. We couldn't even tell they'd been inside our house once they were finished. Our dryer had been functioning poorly (taking twice as long to dry a load as it should have), so we decided to have them clean the dryer vent while they were here. They installed a high-powered vacuum to clean the lint out of the vent and dryer. Once again, they left no mess behind. They even took pictures of the inside of the vent and dryer to show us the build-up of lint we had accumulated over the years! Our dryer began to function so much more efficiently afterward.

Description of Work: Replaced an cheaply made and inefficient firebox in our fireplace with an efficient wood burning fireplace insert.
