Ace Fence Company Inc

I wanted to retract my last review for Ace Fence Company out of Fort Smith Arkansas. " I told you not to use this company" this was true statement. I also told you this fence company of Fort Smith installed a gate for us was very correct. We had a gate installed last year it took for ever to get it installed and the quality of the gate was terrible, that was a true statement. But the statement was not correct was "We did not take them to court." They had to take us to court for not paying their final invoice for their crappy work. In court the judge gave us money to fix the ****** work that they did. And we had to pay the rest of the money that was left on there invoice. Again I am sorry for the error in my last review. It was in error on my part.

After coming to the property they told us it would be 4 or 5 days before they emailed the estimate. 2 weeks later I called them to get it. A couple days later I called with some questions. Someone was suppose to call me back. Three calls later with still no response on their part we decided to go with another company.

Went good. First two installers were so-so. A second pair of installers came by to fix the first pairs mistakes, but it got done right in the end. Company very responsive to complaints and issues.

On 6/27/13, I received the initial estimate from ACE for 383ft of Cedar Fence for $5615.27 which we were told would only be good for 10 days (we still lived in MD so the estimate was done without anyone here to supervise/correct). We had not yet closed on our new home so by the time we got the closing done and contacted ACE again, it was the end of Aug 2013 and we were told that effective 9/1 their pricing would be going up due to increase in pickets. Based on that new price increase, on 9/11/13 ACE sent us a revised quote for 383ft of Cedar Fence for $5854.46. As we were preparing to make the 50% deposit to guarantee the work date of 10/1 - 10/7, we found that the actual fence location on the our property was incorrect on the original and 2nd estimate (we found that the dimensions were not in accordance with our property lines so we requested ACE to send out another estimator to redo the measurements and estimate). The appt was set for 4pm on 9/13 so my husband could be there to walk the property with the estimator (my husband is a teacher and wasn't able to get out of school/home before 4pm) but at 3:05pm, the estimator shows up at the house wanting to do the new estimate. I walked the property line as he measured and based on the revised walk-through, the actual fence dimensions were corrected to 323ft instead of the original 383ft he used on estimates 1 and 2. So based on the new revised 9/1 prices provided to us on 9/11/13 of $15.29/foot, the new estimate should have been $4,938.67 but instead what we received was an estimate of $5,551.47 for 323ft ($17.19/foot). When I contacted ACE about this erroneous estimate, they put the estimator on the phone. After I explained everything to him, he said he would have to call me back and check his estimate. He called me back and REFUSED to fix their estimate and when I asked what his justification was for the error in pricing, he began to try and make excuses stating that the reason for the price increase from the previous estimate was because they had to increase 1 gate size from 5ft to 6ft and go from a 3ft steel post to a 4ft steel post for that one gate but weren't giving us credit for the 50 feet removed from the original estimate in the price per foot calculation. When I tried to show him the error in his math, his comment was and quot;I'm not chnaging my estimate I previously sent - it is what it isand quot; so I told him to cancel my service request scheduled for 10/1 immediately for the fence installation and that I would be reporting their dishonest behavior to Angie's List. He had no comment. The bottom line is that they took off 50ft from their original estimates' total feet but didnt' want to charge the same price per foot. Instead they increased their prices AGAIN only 15 days after they raised their rates from $14.66/foot on 6/27/13 to $15.29/foot on 9/11/13 to $17.19/ft on 9/16/13. Because of this dishonest behavior and their lack of care of how they were losing our business, we cancelled the contract outright with ACE. BEWARE OF THIS VENDOR - has NO set pricing models and their LACK of integrity and honesty in their pricing system and employees is horrifying!! The simple math tells is all for the 3 estimates they gave to us: Estimate 1's price per foot was calculated by dividing their total estimate $5,615.27 by the total feet of 383ft = $14.66/foot Estimate 2's price per foot was calculated by dividing their total estimate $5,854.46 by the total feet of 383ft = $15.29/foot Estimate 3's price per foot was calculated by dividing their total estimate $5,551.47 by the total feet of 323ft = $17.19/foot The CORRECT Estimate 3's price based on the 9/1/13 pricing model of $15.29/foot should have been $4,938.67 divided by the corrected total feet of 323ft = $15.29/foot.

The fence was installed by someone that Ace Fence subcontracts with to do installation of their product. Although I was pleased with the overall installation of the fence, I was not pleased that Ace Fence Company did not have their own installation crew to do the work. After installation, I found 15 boards that were not nailed in all positions and a couple of sub-par boards that were installed. Ace Fence did send someone out to finish the nailing and replacement of the boards . If I were to do another fence, I would prefer to work with a company that does their own installation.

I contacted Ace Fencing to replace an existing privacy fence at my residence. They took my contact information and promised to send an estimator to my house the following Monday. The estimator called me Monday and set a time to come out. He arrived on time and we discussed exactly what I wanted. It took a few days longer than promised for the estimate to arrive, but I was not pressed for time so there was no real problem.I'd done my own estimation as to the price of materials, so I was not surprised by the cost. It was about what I expected.Ace's crew arrived on the day schedule and got to work. They were fast, but professional, and finished the fence on the third day, as promised. It's beautiful and exactly what I wanted. I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to my friends.One note: Ace constructed fences in a new subdivision near me, so I saw the type and quality of work they performed before I called them. That was a definite advantage. I discussed what I wanted and asked question of the estimator, so everyone knew exactly what was going to be done.

Ace Fencing Company was quick, professional and thorough. They worked so hard and fast. They earned every penny that I paid them.
