John said that it would be 1.5 - 2 weeks before he could get the bid back and I totally understood as we were deep into landscaping season. After a week I sent him an idea for him to ponder which would have increased the cost of the job and he responded back that he hadnt quite got to it and (I quote) "I havent had a chance to look at it yet. I will next week." I totally understood this as this was response back to John. Then time proceeded to slip away with no response back from John. I texted and emailed 3-4 times over the next 4 weeks (total of 6 weeks waiting for a response) to check in to see where we were in the process. Only until I called their office did John respond back that he is short handed and super busy and couldnt get to the bid for me. I have now held off my project and lost valuable time just waiting for The Grey Barn to say they are too busy. The ownership of this review falls squarely on John because of his lack of communication. Not only was I super patient and understanding but it only take 30 seconds to text a client to tell them what he told me today. John's followup response to my disappointment..."Sorry." I would not recommend this company to anyone. There are too many respectful landscape companies out there to be misled by The Grey Barn.
Description of Work: Called The Grey Barn to come out and offer a bid for a relatively large project. John came out and spent a decent amount of time walking through the property, taking pictures and offering suggestions. He spent time talking about how different The Grey Barn is than other companies and to be honest I was sold. Just needed the bid.

We heard nothing back for a while and after 3 weeks the designer emailed us up wanting to come round and do a survey which surprised us, as we expected a completed design by now and what happened to the original measurements and conversation where we spent a fair amount of time in the yard with them explaining what we wanted. I emailed back asking what had happened and got no response. - FAIL!
Description of Work: We were interested in some landscaping work. They came out and did some fairly detailed measurements, and they suggested having their designer draw up the design after which they would price it. The cost for the design was to be $200 and would take around 2 weeks.

After a year of service I was just informed that Grey Barn would no longer be able to provide lawn maintenance due to new cocommercial contrcats. This was one week's notice in the middle of the summer. Truly unprofessional and low. If this is how they handle custome relations these people will be out of business .

Just needed several sprinkler heads adjusted and replaced. The guy had to come back three different times because he faced some sprinklers towards our house and windows and also we learned he didn't really check all the heads as he agreed to do. This is the most over-priced and under-delivered service I have gotten in a ling time-- Terrible!

First, a landscape architect met me at my home. He was punctual, and called me on his cell phone when he was coming to my house. He was very honest and clear about pricing. They charged 75 dollars per hour for drafting landscaping plans, and this price was decreased by half if I decided to use Grey Barn for the work. Next, I dissected his plan with him over the phone and by email. He was very receptive and attentive to exactly what I had in mind. He was also very knowledgeable of the geography of the area and what plants would do well here. I can't stress how nice it was for him to listen to what I wanted and work with me- at the same time, he never tried to push a certain plan on me. Then the time came for installation of my water feature. The workers were on time and called to let me know right before they came. They spent an entire day working dilligently to create my water feature. At certain times, I pointed out some things that I wanted to change after they had done it. The workers and foreman were very receptive to my suggestions, and helped me change things- this is not easy, as I am a picky person. I was very satisfied with the end result- it is a wonderful creek in my front yard. They also went to great lengths to clean up after finishing- my whole front yard was cleaner on the whole after they left than before they arrived. I'm amazed by how many people stop to tell me how much they love the water feature now. Finally the bill came. I honestly anticipated that the final price might be higher because the team of 4 people spent an entire day on my yard. However they did not charge me one cent over their estimate. I firmly believe that this was an excellent deal, and I consider myself a fairly conservative person.
