My dispute with this provider has to do with the "evergreen" contract that they employ. The seller of our home offered a termite inspection and initiated and paid for a contract with these people. I was never even made aware of the contract until 2 weeks after the initial inspection when the contract was initiated. One year later, without previous notice, a technician showed up (while we were not at home) and sprayed the exterior. We were billed accordingly. Not knowing what commitment had been made the previous year by the seller, we felt it was best to just pay the $168. However, I called their office and told them I did not want any more inspections. This year, while we were away for 2 months, they came out again and sprayed. Neither time did I ever receive a 'heads-up' that they were coming out. I was billed again but this time I refused to pay. Discussion with them was futile. I turned to the Better Business Bureau and it is presently in their hands for dispute resolution. Evergreen contracts are purely meant to favor the vendor and burden the consumer. I understand the rationale for these contracts, but it would only be fair to advise the consumer that a contracted service is about to be performed unless the consumer wishes otherwise. In some states these contracts are unenforceable.
Description of Work: Spray exterior of home for termites.

This company has been wonderful. I was scared to death from seeing so many spiders in the house we just moved into. The initial technician was kind, professional and thorough. He followed up with me and determined that the additional service I wanted was the proper course of action, and returned in a few days with a team who thoroughly treated my attic, basement, garage, cracks and crevices, including removing switch-plates and outlets all through the house to treat spiders which could be hiding in the walls. This was a powder treatment, so it got everywhere, but they had explained this in advance so I was able to prepare and protect my things. They also cleaned up some of the mess as they went through. They have followed up twice since the initial treatment, and have answered all my questions and concerns. These folks are so nice, so service oriented, and so generous with their attention - I can't thank them enough except to refer others to them. When you are scared of bugs like I am, having a knowledgeable person answer your questions in a patient and understanding way is a huge benefit. We just moved in, so two small areas could not be treated because they were loaded with boxes. When I expressed concern about this, they even offered to return when we were ready to treat those areas if necessary. I highly recommend this company, and I also want to say that I am very suspicious of the bad rating they got by someone who is bashing them because he apparently didn't read his contract. They have done an excellent job for us and we couldn't be happier with them and with the reduction in spiders!
Description of Work: After a routine pest control treatment, they returned to do a specialized treatment for an infestation, at a very reasonable rate since the prior service had already been paid.

Have had some billing problems with this company. There is a new manager that is trying hard to get things done right the first time. He bent over backwards to get things straightened out. Things have gone smoothly since. The company is worth giving a second chance too, if you have had problems in the past. Have used this company for termites for one year.
Description of Work: Came out for yearly inspection. Finished up work that was left undone by former team at no charge. Reasonable charge for the yearly inspection.

Update 03/08/13: Plantation Pest Management seems to be the worst type of business that survives on auto-renewing policies that are difficult to stop and are very quick to send to collections. This review is in regards to a new house termite plan. I found that the renewal form was sent to me via snail mail and had a window of 14 days to be replied to for cancellation. After the 14 day period the contract would auto-renew with payment required within the next 14 day period. The contract would then sent to collections with increased fees. The first verbal communication I had with this company did not seem like I was dealing with a professional company and much more like an organization that is built on auto-renewal / collection process. When I inquired if I could pay over the phone with a simple debit card I was informed they would no longer deal with me. This was my first contact with this company. They seem more interested in running up fee's and sending them to a collector than dealing with customers. My recommendation would be stay as far away from Plantation Pest Management as possible. Many times the pest company is already selected for you by the builder of your house. I would find out if they are included in you house you are looking at up front so you know what you are dealing with before you are getting a call from a collection agent...
Description of Work: The absolute worst!!! These guys seem to be running a system that is built on auto renewable contracts that are very specific to cancel in a special two week period by written correspondence only. They didn't bother to call me but were more than happy to turn over my account to a collector on day one past due. They seem to be built on getting in with builders then keep contracts locked up by fine print rules. I would not recommend using this company and look out for builders who use them.
