Middleton Heat & Air

We called several heat/AC companies to get estimates on replacing our furnace/ductwork. Our carbon monoxide detector had gone off and the fire dept AND Centerpoint Energy had come out and condemned the whole unit and cut off the gas. It was clearly marked yellow tape saying and quot;condemned, gas cut offand quot; Middleton's advertising touts free estimates. They charged us $81.10 claiming we had asked for a diagnostic and had complained about a funny smell and lt;carbon monoxide is odorless-there was no smelland gt; My husband naively paid them. When I found out, I called and requested our money back, only to get a bunch of quotes from the serviceman's bill about diagnostics. They claimed that we requested a diagnostic. We did not, we wanted an estimate of replacement-the thing was condemned, what's to diagnose? After getting a runaround several times, I asked for the agent's supervisor. She said she was the supervisor. I asked for the head of the dept. She said that was her. I asked to speak to the owner of the company. He wasn't in. I was told she'd talk to him and get back to us; of course no one has. $81.10 is nothing to a big company like Middleton; to us it's a lot of money. In short, they are engaging in false advertising and sneaky practices to pry money from unsuspecting seniors. Needless to say, we used another company and will spread the word to one and all about this ripoff.

Our ten year old AC unit went out in June 2013 with outside temps in the high 90's. We called our regular local technician to take a look, and he told us that the coil was bad - that we could either replace the coil only, or the coil and the duct work, or the whole system. He was not available to do the work himself, due to medical issues, so we called Middleton Heat and Air. I stated on the phone to Middleton Heat and Air that the coil was bad, and I wanted estimates from them for #1 - replacing the coil only; #2 - replacing the coil and the duct work; #3 - A whole new unit. The woman on the phone at Middleton Heat and air stated that they would send out a technician first, to find out what was wrong with our unit, before she would give me any prices. I again told her that we already had a tech here and that the coil was leaking/bad. She stated that it was their policy to make sure that it was in fact the real problem. Fine. But he couldn't be here until the next afternoon, 24 hours from now. The next afternoon Middleton Heat and air technician came out, went in the attic and confirmed that yes, indeed, the AC coil was bad. (Duh) So then I asked him how much it would be for the three different options. He said that he had no clue, that he was only there to assess what the problem was with the AC. SERIOUSLY?? So I called AGAIN to Middleton Heat and air while their tech was still here. I told her that their tech guy confirmed that the coil was in fact, bad, as I told her the day before, and now that it was confirmed yet AGAIN by their guy, that I would like estimates for the three options to fix our AC. She then stated that they would have to send out a DIFFERENT guy to look at the system first, in order to give us any estimates. REALLY?? And how long would it take for him to get here? Tomorrow afternoon, 2pm at the soonest! So... there was already over a full day wasted waiting for their first guy to get here, to tell us (again) that our coil was bad, which we ALREADY knew and were informed by our first regular guy - and NOW Middleton Heat and Air wanted us to wait yet ANOTHER hot day of temps close to 100* for ANOTHER guy to come out and look BEFORE we can get any estimates????? W**? It seems they were playing mind games, jerking our chain and stalling as we sweltered in the heat, unable to sleep at night due to the humidity and heat. I have NEVER, EVER encountered such an asinine, sadistic business in my life. Needless to say, I told Middleton what they could do with their and quot;reputable businessand quot; and we'd happily spend our funds elsewhere!

Middleton Heat and Air is not a company that stands by their word nor do they stand behind their services. Middleton Heat and Air provided inaccurate information and does not stand behind the mistakes of their technicians. When approached about their mistake, they declined to rectify the problem. This goes against them as professional business and their guarantee located on their website. In June of 2013, my wife and I purchased a home in the Maumelle area. During the initial inspection of our home, it was noted by the home inspector that certain rooms in the home were registering much hotter than the rest of the house. Since our home inspector was a general inspector he advised us to have the HVAC unit inspected along with the house duct work as these could potentially be two areas that could render the home warmer. Upon his advice, we asked the sellers of our home to please order a heating and cooling inspection. The sellers complied and had Middleton Heat and Air do the inspection. Middleton Heat and Air sent a technician out the following day to inspect the unit as well as the ductwork. On the same day as the inspection, we spoke to the technician from Middleton Heat and Air. He assured us both verbally and on paper that the unit and all subsequent ductwork were in perfect working order without any problems or leakage. With his assurance and in good faith, we purchased the home. Two days into the house with the air on 70 degrees, we were both sweating. Noticing that the house was significantly warmer in certain parts of the house; we contacted Middleton Heat and Air. We spoke to the Operations Manager who once again assured us that everything was perfect within our home. She informed us that her technicians go through extensive training and if something were wrong with the home, he would have found it. To appease us, she scheduled a senior technician to come out to our home in order to re-inspect the system. About a week later, we received a visit from Jason, a senior technician with Middleton Heat and Air. Jason confirmed our worse fears, the prior technician, from Middleton Heat and Air was in fact wrong about his inspection. In fact, Jason was shocked that our home had passed inspection after looking at the ductwork and our unit. He quickly ordered another gentlemen from Middleton Heat and Air to come out to the home and do a “load” test on the home. The following week another technician from Middleton Heat and Air came out to inspect our home. He once again confirmed what Jason had told us the previous week, our system is fine, but our ductwork needed to be replaced. Middleton Heat and Air sent out a service technician that did not have the expertise to conduct an inspection on the system, and in turn we purchased our home in good faith believing our heating and cooling system was working perfectly (to include the ductwork). Now, in order to have our system, in good working condition, we have a repair estimate of over $7000. Prior to this incident, we had only heard wonderful things about Middleton Heat and Air and felt certain that a company with a wonderful reputation would stand by their word and their inspection. However, when we approached Middleton Heat and Air regarding the repair we were told by Mark Middleton, their Managing Director, that due to the fact that we did not directly hire them, they had no responsibility toward us and the service they provided on our home. Middleton Heat and Air is not a good company nor is their management. Based upon the aforementioned, I strongly advise anyone to please use any company other than this one. Middleton Heat and Air has gotten too big for its own good and no longer cares about their customers, or the people that they hurt in order to serve their own business interests. We are collecting estimates for the work right now and truly praying for a lower option.

I used their online appointment the night before - this feature is very useful. Tech (Shawn) called and showed up early - did't have part but went and got it in a few minutes. Part installed - ac works - price was reasonable.

My air conditioner stopped around 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon and by 4:00 the Hand A technician was at my house. Fortunately, the problem wasn't major but I was very thankful that Middleton has technicians available on the weekend. I have used Middleton for 11 years and have received uniformly respectful and competent service.

They are my go to in servicing. They are absolutely fantastic. Top, top notch. I specifically wrote a note to Mr. Middleton, they were so careful with my house and things like that. I got a letter back from him. That's the kind of company they are. They are a big company, but they are excellent. The people they send out are always knowledgeable. They know what they are doing. The reason I got involved with them, four or five years ago, I had a real problem, like I said my house was built in 35, it's one of those pits, it's real pretty, but it takes a lot of work and some other people had just totally screwed up that I had ceilings up in the upstairs bedroom because the pressure had overflowed, something had overflowed in the attic and the people kept coming out and screwing it up. Middleton got here and they know what they are doing, they fixed it. And ever since then their people are experienced and knowledgeable. And they are very pleasant. I mean that counts for a lot, I don't give a damn if somebody is my best friend, if they fix something and they know what they are doing. And they are very pleasant, but they are knowledgeable. And they are prompt. When they tell you they will be here between a certain time, they will be here. And if it's an emergency they will accommodate you. But normally it takes two or three days to get an appointment with them because they are busy. But if you have an emergency they will come.

They put in a new heating and air conditioning system and new ductwork when we moved into this house eight years ago. Besides the fact that they are top notch, one thing that impressed me was about two years after they put it in they came for the yearly inspection I pointed out that the return air unit was incorrect so they put a new one in at no charge. Our thermostat was also acting weird so they put in a new, top-of-the-line thermostat and also did not charge us. They are great and I have a service contract with them. Some people say they are expensive, but I say you get what you pay for.

They were awesome. Came in right on price and finished early! No surprises.

Bill gave me the estimate to replace the damaged parts and did the work quickly and professionally. I feel better knowing that our air conditioner will work since we have a disabled family member who cannot tolerate the heat of summer. Bill even told me where I could buy high quality air filters at a less expensive price than what I've been paying. I appreciate his thoroughness.

The heat was off in the home during a Christmas snow storm. I called around 1 p.m. to find someone to come take a look and diagnose the problem. The office clerk took my number and said that they would call back before they came out. I asked if I could expect someone today. She said yes unless more bad weather set in. At around 3:30, my phone rang and they said Shawn was on his way out! He arrived and quickly diagnosed and corrected the problem with the furnace. A limit switch had somehow been tripped so the furnace was only blowing cool air. He was very kind and helped with giving advise on how to install a vent-free gas log. The whole experience was nothing but professional and promt. I will use them again!!!!

I requested three estimates from different companies. Middleton was the best quote. I chose them mainly because they have the most qualified workers and guarantee their work. Installing of HVAC systems requires experience and they have that in abundance. They arrived early in the morning on time and completed the work as scheduled. They cleaned up the place when done. I have used their services for the last 12 years and was always satisfied.

Middleton has been taking care of our Heating and A/C unit since we bought our home 11 years ago. The service crew is always courteous and has kept our system running smoothly. The customer care folks are always friendly, and we receive a call before the service personnel are on their way. We couldn't ask for more!

The technitian came. Did his job. Answered all questions. Very professional.

Two weeks after the maintenance was performed, we noticed a large leak in the ceiling of our guest bedroom. It turned out to be water coming from the backup overflow drainpipe for the A/C unit we have in our attic. The primary drainpipe had clogged up and the water had spilled into a drain pan below the unit, as it was supposed to do. Once the water in the drain pan reached a certain level, it was supposed to trip a switch and shut down the system, but it failed and the A/C kept running. The backup drainpipe carried the overflow outside, but some of the water made its way back into the house and caused the leak. Two things went wrong that were the fault of Middleton's serviceman: (1) the checklist clearly stated that he had cleaned and checked the drain line and (2) he also should have tested the overflow switch and repaired it. Obviously, he did neither. When I called about the leak, Middleton was prompt in their response. An experienced serviceman came out immediately and cleaned the drainpipe. He also reported the ceiling damage and Middleton sent out a crew of contractors to repair it. It took them three weeks to do a simple job and they did not do great work. That experience was bad enough, but here's the kicker: We had had EXACTLY the same experience the previous time Middleton had performed spring maintenance on our A/C units. We almost didn't go back to them after the first time but decided to give them a second chance because we had done business with them for over 20 years and never had any problems (thus the D instead of an F). Bad decision. Perhaps as significant as the sloppy service was the non-existent public relations effort. Neither time did anyone ever call to follow through and make sure we were satisfied with the repair work. No one ever apologized or offered to refund our money. It was as if they thought and quot;We fixed it, that's enough.and quot; The fact that, because of those two episodes, we suffered through more than a month's-worth of significant mess and inconvenience wasn't their concern. Bottom line: I believe Middleton has grown so big that it can no longer provide the level of quality service that they provided us for so many years before...

I called Middleton to do the Fall Maintenance on my Heating System several weeks ago and it was scheduled for Election Day. I was very busy and called Middleton that morning to postpone. They were happy to change the date to whatever I suggested and that was for two days later. I asked if they would call before they came to my house and they did 15 minutes before which gave me enough time to go home from work to meet the technician. When I got there the technician had just arrived and we met on the porch. His name was Bill Wilder and he introduced himself and asked to go inside. He wiped his feet while small talk and went in to change the air filter. Mr. Wilder then went to the heating unit and I asked if I could watch and he had no problem saying yes. As I watched Mr. Wilder, he explained what he was doing and why. As he went inside and out he wiped his feet and was very polite. When he left it was as if he had never been there except for the fact I now know it is very important to do the fall maintenance on my heating system. If I ever need anything from Middleton again, I will ask for Bill Wilder and would recommend him in particular to all.

I called Middleton HVAC to get an estimate for the replacement on my antiquated system because they are listed as a TRANE dealer and are supposed to be eligable for energy-use reduction rebates through the local electric company. The estimater they sent out looked over my old system breifly then pronounced that I needed a bigger AC unit. I had to point out that the ductwork needed to be replaced (it was undersized for even the AC that was already there.) I informed him that I wanted the TRANE XL16 AC and XV95 furnace and his response was that I shouldn't get and quot;taken inand quot; by SEER ratings. After informing him that I wanted the XL16 anyway because it qualified for the electric company rebates he still produced an estimate for a 13 SEER HVAC system with an 80%AFUE furnace. On top of that his estimate for the replacement of the ductwork was more than double the price quoted by any of the other five estimates I recieved. This company needs to retrain thier employees to listen to the customer.

We found Middleton Heating and Air very reliable.

They gave me a good price on a new unit and I've stuck with them. They did a good job installing it. They give initial advise and I've been pleased with them.

Their service went very well and they did a great job. I would use them again in the future.

They come out twice a year to prepare my heating/cooling unit. I have a yearly maintenance contract with them. I have checked with other companies, but Middleton had the best price. They have given us good service. They come out the same day if I have a problem. They are sincere. They do not double talk you.

When my heating unit went out, I called this company because of their excellent ratings. The salesman was very pleasant. They promptly came out to perform the service, which was important since it was so cold. Everyone who came out to perform the service did well and was very professional. I was very happy with the service, and when it was completed Mr. Middleton himself sent me a thank you note for using the company. Since then I have used this company for minor repairs on an older unit installed by another company. The new unit I have has been running wonderfully. I would call no one else to work on my home's heating and air system.
