Mister Sparky - Bentonville

Mr Sparky's men said a new breaker box would be around $2500. and the electric in the house would be off for 4 to 6 hrs.

We were having power fluctuation issues and the city sent out one of their guys to inspect the issue. He got here at about 9am and he said that the meter lug had blown and that when he removed the cover the lug was glowing red it was so hot and the box was all blackened on the inside. He turned our power completey off due to a house fire risk and said I would need to have an electrician come fix it, and that power would be restored after a city inspector came and approved the work. I called Mister Sparky of Bentonville at 11am and they said they could be there between a half an hour from the time I called to 5 hours later.When they got there, they evaluated the problems with our meter box, meter lugs, main service wire, and the fuse box. Determined what repairs would be needed:-Replace everything on outside of house-Replace main service line-Replace meter can and mast-Add a main disconnect with extra spaces for the air conditioner-Add a main grounding systemHe told me that the work would take 6-8 hours to complete (this was at 2pm) and that the inspection office closes at 4, so we would not have our power turned back on until at least the next morning (we've been in a heat wave so that part definately wasn't cool).  They called our landlord to tell him about the cost ($4800), and my landlord told them that we would figure out something else and to not do the work. They started doing the work anyway and I had to stop them once I spoke to my landlord and he told me that another guy was going to come out. I went outside and I told them to stop and that my landlord said "NO" and I handed him my phone so he could speak with my landlord. When he got off the phone with my landlord the guy said "Well that's not what he said to me earlier." And went back to his van and left.The other electrician came out (this was at 3pm) and he said that he only needed to replace the meter lug, sink 2 grounding rods, and install a new grounding wire. He was done in an hour and he had the inspector out there and turned my power back on by 4:30. It only cost us $607. That's nearly a $4200 difference!
