I had a very bad exerience with them. There was a $45 fee upfront. After they looked at the laptop they wanted to sell me a new laptop or charge me $300 to fix the screen. I felt they were not completely honest with me which really upset me. I ended up having someone else repair it for free.

As I look back on the record of your quote to repair your laptop I see that your lcd screen was cracked and your windows programming was corrupt and in need of a clean install of windows. First i should point out nobody gives lcd replacements away for free. the cost to repair a lcd display generally costs about $129 for the screen and $79 for the labor.The cost to reprogram your Computer was $99. You can see why we recommended replacement; $300 to repair a laptop is a lot of money considering the cost of replacement.Your choice not to pay to repair or replace your computer is yours and we respect that.I am sorry the $45 Bench charge made you so upset and am willing to Refund it if you would be willing to retract the harsh and in my opinion, unfair review.

Looked them up on Angie's, called to verify hours open. We showed up an hour later and Daniel fixed up up very quickly. He was professional and knew his stuff.
Description of Work: 3 yr old laptop quit working due to a short. Quick diagnostic and fix. In/out less than 20 minutes. They also offer "remote in" services which I may use in the future as long as issues do not affect wifi.

They took in my laptop, ordered the replacement parts, and replaced the failed hard drive. Then they reloaded the original operating systems. There was a wait of about a week for the replacement drive to come in, but otherwise things went well. This is my second time using Computer Medics, and my second favorable report. They did the work right, and they did it for a much lower cost than the Geek Squad wanted. These are the people I will stick with.
Description of Work: Replaced a failed hard drive on my wife's laptop, and reloaded software.

The guys at Computer Medic were great from the moment I walked in the door. I have no idea when it comes to computer repair and they were willing to address all of my questions. I left my computer towers with them and in less than a week they called me to return to their store. Unfortunately, one of the towers was completely dead. They tried to salvage some of my information but had to stop when the darned thing started smoking. They were so nice and apologized for not being able to fix that one. They did tell me that my other tower probably has very little usage left. They gave me some great ideas for storing my information so when that computer crashes I won't lose all my documents and pictures. They charged me a very low fee and were so helpful. They even have computers for sale there at very reasonable prices. I will definitely be going back to them with all of my computer needs.
Description of Work: I took in two computer towers to see if one could be repaired and just to check the other out. The guys tested both computers.

It went very well. The guys were helpful and professional.
Description of Work: We had a four year old laptop that would not power on. Computer Medic performed diagnosis and repair that ended up taking a bit longer than they expected (five days versus three). They restored the laptop to its normal state for about $80. We were very pleased not to have to buy a new laptop.

Did not go well. Never heard from provider
Description of Work: Contacted Compouter Medic by phone on 18 August 2011 and explained computer problems. Made an appointment for August 23@ 2PM. Technician did to show up and no telephone message or explaination. Still have not heard anything from the provider. Contacted another provider

Not to good they had my computer for a long time and only responded to my inquiries.
Description of Work: I took my laptop in after a bios upgrade failed. It was there for 2-3 weeks and they tried to salvage it several times. I finally purchased a new laptop and had them move the data from my old laptop. They never contacted or updated as to status of repairs. The only contacts were those initated by me.

I took the laptop in to the Computer Medics shop, which is small and which looks from the outside as if they may have gone out of business (they could use some improved signage). I told the individual who helped me about my problems, and he said he'd probably need to order a new power supply at a minimum, and possibly a new battery and hard drive. He said he would be able to get to it the next day, and would call me in two days to discuss options. Two days later, he did call as promised. He told me that my power supply was bad, as well as the battery (which I already knew). He also said that my hard drive was failing, and was probably contributing to my iTunes problems. He said he could replace the hard drive and move everything over as is, re-installing iTunes; he also replaced the power supply. He said I had the option of replacing the battery now, or using the laptop as a desktop and spend money on the new battery later (which is the option I chose). The prices he quoted me were excellent, and once I authorized the repairs they were done quickly and done right. What's more, he didn't try to sell repairs i didn't need (I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a laptop which was already getting a little long in the tooth). I was very impressed with the proficiency and professionalism that I saw, as well as the price and results. I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: My laptop wouldn't charge the battery any longer, and I was having hard drive troubles. iTunes wouldn't run properly, as well as other memory-intensive programs.

I have found the Holy Grail...of computer repair and services!!!!! I had been very unhappy with my computer of late and, as a member of a number of boards of directors and community task forces, and also as a writer, I am totally dependent on my computer for e-mail and word processing functions. But I have no real need for sophisticated graphics, photographic and music functions or anything in the higher "stratosphere" of technology. I just wanted my computer to work like it used to work. When I went into Computer Medic, I was fully prepared to be "taken" but was desperately in need of having my computer up and running. Since I am basically computer illiterate and intimidated (actually, terrified) by technology (I don't enter my computer room alone without support staff and a Rottweiler) I wasn't even able to voice my concerns adequately. I never know the proper terminology to use, don't speak "computerese", and call every hardware and software component a "thingy." I couldn't remember all the "tasks" my word processing program (Word 07 / XP operating system) seemed to be missing but I knew the software seemed grossly deficient, including the inability to make certain features go to and stay in default. I was fully expecting the worst and having to pay an outrageous fee to boot. (No pun intended.) But I was in for a pleasant awakening. I got a call the next day telling me they were almost finished getting out the bugs and that I could pick-up my computer the next day. (The 'big box" computer people took a week.) I had been told at the outset that I would be paying about $99 for the work and they meant it!! As I listed in the section above, they performed a number of fixes and got my computer going again, but the most important aspect of the whole transaction was how they treated me. The worst nightmare for computer experts (who always appear to be under 30, it seems) has got to be a little old lady walking in juggling a computer tower with that "I- know- absolutely- nothing- about -this -stuff- but- demand- you- fix- my- computer- immediately- for- under- twenty- bucks" look on her face. But these guys were so patient with me, answering my dumb questions, figuring out what I really meant by "the watchamacallit", never talking down to me, understanding what was important to me and assessing how much computer lingo I could actually absorb. They even taught me some things I really ought to know already about how to about access certain software features. Their professionalism, thoroughness and patience were far more than I had expected. I don't anticipate any more software or hardware problems in the future, but I do know where I can go to get expert, patient and sympathetic help when I do. I can whole-heartedly recommend "Computer Medic" to friends and businesses in Northwest Arkansas. Remind me to bake them some cookies.
Description of Work: My computer had not been delivering the software features (MS Word, Works, etc.)I was accustomed to having after I had been victimized by an online "virucide" vendor and even after another computer company swore they had fixed it. Five hundred dollars later, I went to Computer Medic. They did a thorough diagnostic of my software problems, helped reload some software. eliminated a few programs I really didn't need, found a number of registry errors and infections, copied key docs and data bases onto a flash drive, and corrected a number of menu items that had apparently been corrupted.
