The work itself was good, and we are reasonably happy with how our floor has turned out. The main reason we would not consider hiring Aloha again is that the company owner was very difficult to communicate with, and the job was not completed promptly. I purposely scheduled our appointment for a time when I would be off work, because I am not comfortable leaving a key when I am not home. After refinishing the floor, they forgot to put down the base shoe. Apparently, she forgot it was on our contract. We finally did get it taken care of a couple weeks later. Throughout the process of getting a quote, scheduling, rescheduling, getting the work done, scheduling again, and getting more work done, my emails and/or phone calls were not answered promptly. I had to check in to confirm the appointment date, to see what time we should expect refinishers at our house, etc. I know it may not sound like much, but my husband and I found the lack of communication to be unprofessional and disappointing.
Description of Work: Refinished existing hardwoods and laid oak base shoe in 200 sq. ft. living room.

It's a Mom and Pop business run as efficiently and expediently as is humanly possible out of Bryant, AR.located on Robinwood Lane. The distance from them to me never was an issue showing-up early or staying until the objective of the day was completed in N.Litte Rock. "Erin" was very competitive at wanting our business even if our project was relatively small and time consuming. I never felt the project was lagging while she returned my phone calls and emails within reasonable promptness. Erin worked with us all through the contract period traveling twice to our home to get every thing on the proposal correct, flexing as much as could be expected ALOAHA kept every promise to our satisfaction. She traveled back to sign paperwork a third time and receive first payment to place the order for our hardwood and work materials. I would have appreciated more face time with "Kai" before signing contracts, but he works a full day giving each location the detail required. I already understood he would have to go from job to job sealing other floors and giving time for each floor to dry between coats while doing our construction, so the fact he was not always here was not a problem. Kai made us feel like he truly wanted our floors to be "right" before he would call the job finished. The other workman "Lee" is truly a craftsman being as considerate and as professional employee as you could possibly want coming into your home. Lee was here every day start to finish and stayed with the work with minimal breaks not requiring anything from us but giving us opportunities to make decisions in how we wanted him to proceed in an area. I never heard any foul language or found any cigarette butt 's or trash after a lunch break. Both men worked well together and seemed to genuinely enjoy each others company. There was a large trailer involved and we absorbed it at our home for nine days, but it was worth it. Lee ran out of nails twice and that is the only issue that might have been an avoidable work delay. It was a happy problem if you could see how secure the boards looked with the close spacing of the nails, there was no scrimping on materials. Kai was right on target seeing the stain color we wanted and very generous at making us happy with other choices just to be sure, allowing time needed making decisions (thats where the face time before contract would have been reassuring), but none the less, even after they were done, when I needed a touch up of sealant, they came back the next morning. The way the sanding faded into older stained floors was perfect only seen where the satin gloss stopped on the old floor after the doorway. I could not have done this good of a job myself, even as much as I love my home. They swept up and left the house as clean as possible every day. There was one accident that happened concerning the vacuum system. The filter got clogged and the dust got out without warning. I had installed a barrier between the work space and living area (visqueen / closed doors / sheets) so it wasn't as out of control as it could have been. One word of advice is let Aloha do your quarter round, they were extremely fast and it looked perfect. What seemed effortless to both men, I would have been agonizing and trying to get each piece exact. I would have them all in my home again as friends not just as contractors we felt that at ease, and they were that good.
