I had to hire someone else to fix it. They fixed it temporarily, but it didn’t last. They were professional and courteous. The only problem was that the fix didn’t last.
Description of Work: I hired them to fix a leak in the roof that was coming in through the window.

Description of Work: They put on a roof and gutters for us. We had problems from he beginning. We tried to get them to come back for repairs for over a year. When he did answer the phone he was very rude. I would not recommend them. We had to have someone else do repairs!

Now it is June, 2011. I have never heard from the Roof doctor again. He did not honor the contract. He did shoddy work and he insulted me. I have written BBB to inform them that he has never corrected his mistakes. The business card that the roof doctor gave me had BBB approved printed on it. Now I'm just informing the public that they can't trust the roof doctor!
Description of Work: IAfter many years and lots of bad weather. hail.etc. I needed a new roof. I got several bids and Mel of the roof doctor was very nice and I thought his bid a bargain Now I know it was not a bargain. The job was finished in a timely fashion while I was out of town. When I returned the bubble windows were not replaced as he agreed to do while he was roofing. I agreed to pay for the bubble windows extra and he was going to do the work while he was there. That is written on our contract. He came to my house and noted that the windows were not replaced and they needed to be as water was between the sheets of bubble plastic. He punctured the bubble with a screw driver to allow the water to drip out onto my deck. He has not been back to replace the windows. I called him any number of times and he would not call me back. Finally after a year i reached him and he said he could not get the bubble windows from his supplier. I called 4 different businesses and found the bubble windows available in town. I called the Roof Doctor and left message after message that the windows were available. He would not return my call. Then another workman was here doing some work and found the edges of the roofing were put on wrong and water could flow right under the guttering leading to rotting in the edge of the deck. Also there were long slash cut in the roofing, just carelessness but water can go into those slits and rot the wood. My workman that was here at the time took pictures of the improperly installed edge and the slits. Then I paid him to repair the roofing edges and to glue the slits. I wrote the BBB, sent the pictures and after the roof doctor heard from them he called me and said there was nothing wrong , He wasn't interesting in seeing the pictures, that I lived in comfort and ease and did not understand the working man. BBB offer to mediate but I would have to pay a fee and I thought the Roof Doctor should just do his contractual job. This past year the roof around the fireplace has leaked any number of time. Due to this leaking part of the ceiling in the dining room fell and the living room ceiling was stained. I had the workman I had before caulk and seal the firerplace flashing and repair the ceilings in my house . I'm sure I could take him to court and win but I don't want to have anything else to do with him I do understand the working man . I grew up in a working class family.

This lady loved the roofing job. We did not contract the work on the back skylights it was above an outside deck we did try to get her one but they were not in stock, so we told her to try a handyman and she has gotten mad over this and given us a bad rap for no reason.

Roof Dr. has to be the worst company I have ever done business with. (See above narrative)
Description of Work: I had some storm damage earlier in the year to the roof. The Insurance Co. looked at it a decided that even though it did not leak, there was damage and they would replace it. Called several companies for qoutes and Roof Dr. (who had done other work in the area) came and gave one. It being November (and as the roof had NO leaks) I stated that I wanted the roof done in spring when the weather was better. THE Roof Dr. (Mel) begged me to let him have his crew do it right away so he could keep them working, and business was slow. Against my better judgment I felt sorry for them and said okay. They started on time and fairly quickly ripped off the old shingles. They had the new shingles delivered and while unloading them on the roof dropped the bundles from shoulder height onto the roof deck. Since this house has an open floor plan and catherdreal ceilings this made the entire roof deck/structure "bounce", and cracked most all of the interior ceiling's drywall seams. A solar tube skylight was to be put into the roof over the kitchen --- Mel said he was going to have his best man (who also was in charge of the re-roofing job) personally do it. New shingles went on and job "finished" just before Thanksgiving. Mel came for his final check --- I was outside picking up a gallon paint can full of old shingle nails his crew had left laying around the driveway, deck, and yard. (He had promised his crew would clean everything up and dispose of of it when he qouted the job). When he showed up he stated he thought I looked "upset" ---- about forty-five minutes later things were cleaned up and he left with his check (I was dumb enough to give it to him in good faith that the job had been done correctly.). Thanksgiving day came and a (thankfully) brief rain shower ensued. Thankfully we were home at the time and my wife was sitting on the sofa in the living room talking to guests when the rain water started pouring in on her head. (This skylight had been in place for ten years prior and had never leaked). Called Mel and he sent out a guy who smeared some "goo" around the skylight. A few days later another storm came through during the night. The next morning I happened to look up at the roof and noticed some of the new shingles were lifted. Called Mel and told him to get out here and fix it (He claims to guarantee his work). He claimed it couldn't be so, but would come out. Shingles were loose and they were up there for an hour or so "fixing". We had a few warm and sunny days and I noticed the new shingles looked "lumpy/bumpy" in areas. Called Mel and told him there was another problem and to come and fix it. He did some grumbling, but agreed to come. While waiting for him to get here I got out a ladder and went up on the roof myself to see what was going on. I found dozens of places where nails were beginning to poke up through the new shingles (When the crew stripped the old shingles off, the tools they used caught some of the nails that were used to nail down the roof's plywood base. His crew never pounded them back in, just laid the new shingles down over the top of the protruding nails --- which when the sun heated up the new shingle, nails started to poke holes through them). Mel got there and I met him on the roof, he told me that if I was a normal home owner I would never have gone up on the roof to look --- and there would be no problem for him to fix. Relations deteriorated from this point on at an increasing rate. We left for vacation the end of January and got back mid February. While we were gone, it rained. Upon our return we walked into the house to find major water stains in the kitchen ceiling (it had never leaked before then). Called Mell to get out here and fix it. Somebody came out and put some "goo" around the new sklight they had put in. Next time it rained a new stain appeared, called Mel he came out and put a boot/seal aound the vent pipe his crew hadn't done as they originally should have. Leaked again ---- collar/boot Mel had put on was wrong size (too big). He had just left the gap there for water to get in. Ceiling now is not only cracked from the crew dropping shingle bundles, it is water stained in major areas. Told Mel to get a painter in and fix the damage his crew had done/caused. (He now accused me of going up in the attic and pouring water on the ceiling --- even though he has been up there 5-6 times actively attempting repairs that were admittedly due to the crew's poor workmanship) ONGOING, BIG hassel getting the ceiling fixed and painted (even after he admitted it was his crew's fault). I found out in later conversations that the ALL NEW FLASHINGS, around all the sylights and chimmney Mel had quoted, and charged for, on his original bid sheet was never installed. None of it. This was told to me be the lead roofer, the one who originally did this job. To this day I have continuous problems with re-occuring leaks due to the poor craftsmanship of this company. They refuse to return phone calls or honor the warranty they issued. I'd sue them, but like most legal actions it would cost more than what its worth. Do busines with ROOF DOCTORS at your own risk ------ Think very carefully about using some other REPUTABLE company.

This customer was one that we could not please no matter what, in fact we were so tired of the bad calls that after fixed the problem's we had to give them 1700 dollars to make them happy, they were just trying to get money out of us so they could repair their inside work and they did. We've done many more roof's in this area with happy customer's by the way the part about the dropping of bundles. That should have been the material yard's responsibility they delivered the shingle's but we took the rap. Sorry we ever did this job payed for this one.
