I live in a wooded area. In October 2012, I was invaded by rodents and went through a horrible ordeal. It was the time of year when rodents try to get inside, plus they were doing some grading in the lot next to me which helped to drive the rodents to my home. They even chewed through the wire on the crawlspace vents. I was hearing noises in the crawlspace, the walls, maybe even in the attic. I couldn't sleep at night for listening to the noises and worrying about it. At first, I tried to save money by handling the problem myself. I hired a handyman to put traps in the crawlspace. I put out peppermint oil, and clove oil (which stained the carpets). I spent several hundred dollars on electronic repellents that didn't work. I spent a fortune on glue traps, wooden traps, and poisons. The rodents avoided all of it. I had to empty the closets, drawers, and kitchen pantry and cabinets and put everything in plastic bins. I had to sleep with the lights on for many months because I was afraid. I finally hired a major pest control company to do an exclusion, (sealing of the house) and they also replaced all of the old insulation in the crawlspace. (They said rodents could be nesting in there). After the house was sealed, the problem seemed to get worse, because more of them found their way into the house. This pest control company came back and set 2 glue traps and 2 wooden traps, even though I told them that the rodents would avoid them, which they did. They didn't want to use poison and didn't seem to know of anything more that they could do. After spending a great deal of money with the wrong pest control company, in January I called Owen's and Taunton. At my request (because I was short on money) they came out and did a one time treatment for less than $100.00. The treatment included inspection, and traps inside and a very effective bait was placed in the crawlspace. The rodents still avoided the traps, but the bait in the crawlspace started to work and things started to get quieter. When I realized that their bait was working, I went back to them and signed a year's contract. After dealing with this problem for approximately 9 months, Owens and Taunton seems to be bringing the problem under control by using the right bait and treating the outside perimeter of the house. I could have saved a lot of money if I had called them first. They were finally recommended to me by a friend.

They charge different prices for different work. They are really nice and do a good job. They come back if we have any problems.
