Shane came highly recommended. I hired him originally to apply sealer to the cedar siding on our house. After hiring him for that I asked him to quote several other incidental jobs, including applying waterproofing paint to the concrete block walls of the basement. The instructions for applying the waterproofing paint were very specific on how the two required coats were to be applied, We discussed the instructions for application, he assured me he was familiar with the type of paint and it's application. I accepted his prices for the extra work without argument. He did a good job on the outside, I was very pleased. He had a helper working on the waterproofing paint application. It seemed as if the original 5 gallons wasn't going to be enough to do two coats but he assured me it would be enough. I paid him each week based on what had been done to that point, he was very fair about how he charged me. He came to me one day and said they had been able to get two coats out of the original 5 gallons, they were all finished. I was very busy with business so wasn't able to go look at it at that time, and I trusted him (he's a preacher) so I paid him off, all but $50 for one more incidental job where we were waiting for some ordered material to arrive. The next day I went down and looked, and discovered that they had not applied two coats, but only one coat, and that not properly according to the instructions. And the work was very sloppy. The 5 gallon bucket was empty, they had used it all, but the paint was applied far more thinly than the directions specified. I bought two more gallons and called Shane. He said they would be out the following Monday to apply the second coat. As is so often the case, they didn't show up, and Shane would not take my calls or respond to my voicemails. He's never called me to discuss, so I had to hire someone else to finish the job properly.
