The experience with D W Gwatkin was very satisfactory. We needed work done on the house for insurance compliance. He came back to complete something that wasn't quite right and that is very rare in today's world. The work was repairs - our house was kind of run down and he fixed it. He is a very good and honest person. He did come back out and did better for us. His wife helps him and she is very good at relaying messages to him and he is good at responding to them.

Due to Katrina and other setbacks, our deck, addition and siding were in badly-needed repair. On the advice of a friend, I contacted David Gwatkin, who came out to my house to create an estimate. He was very congenial, professional and thorough, measuring every part of the job, and taking extensive notes. As far as estimates go, he was very thorough in explaining the exact cost of each phase. Estimates for total amount of lumber and paint, plus labor, were included on the written estimate, on company stationery. (Can't tell you how many times a skimpy estimate has been handed to me, hastily written up, with no details. This was a welcome change.) Also, The job was presented in phases, from the decking to the power washing and then the painting... nice attention to detail. Nothing was left to guesswork. Even with an unexpected delay (on our part, a personal emergency), he and his crew were on the spot, proper equipment, and got to work. It was amazing to see so much progress each evening after getting home from work! Quality work, also, was a by-product. He had the right crews at the right time performing the right job. We decided that, after the paint job on our fascia, to add a new storm door to the front. He quickly secured our desired door, that fit our budget, and quickly installed it. In conclusion, It was a thoroughly professional project from start to finish, and a pleasure to have D. W. Gwatkin perform our home improvement project. I would use them again, without hesitation, and I would encourage anyone who wants a great-looking upgrade at a very reasonable cost, to contact them.
