At first, it appeared to go well. I paid $45.00 to rent a pressure washer for the weekend. I was required to put down an additional $55 to secure the machine, in case I didn't return it in time. The folks in the back of the store tried to help me put it in my car, it didn't fit, so I went in and asked if they delivered. They talked amongst themselves and then offered to deliver the machine without discussing any cost, I actually asked how much, and the guy said nothing, he'd run it by my house on his way home. And the other guy there said he'd run by my house on Monday morning and pick it up. I thought, how nice. Then I tried to use the washer, when I tried to crank the machine up, the handle broke so I could never use it. I figured I didn't want to bother, so just left the machine with a note explaining what had happened for the Monday pick up. Well almost 2 weeks goes by and I notice that my $55 was never refunded to my checking account. I first wrote them via their web address contact service to ask what had happened. Despite their claim on the site that they would respond ASAP, I never heard back. So two days later, I call to find out. They couldn't find my contract so the woman, Anne, said she'd call me back. I called back to speak with her and another guy explained why my money wasn't refunded. He said, $40 dollars was for delivery. This was the first I'd heard of any delivery fee. It wasn't included in the contract, and I was not made aware of this at time of delivery discussion - in fact, they told me that it wouldn't cost anything. In addition, the $11 he said was owed to me was not yet refunded to my account. I think if I hadn't called, I wouldn't have even received that amount back. The the guy says, well how about I split it with you? I said, I didn't authorize this charge in the first place. I didn't authorize my retainer fee to be used as a deduction for a delivery, of a charge I was not even made aware of. He said, well let me call you back to see what I can do. I'm still waiting.
