He augured the blocked toilet pipe with a metal "snake" that was partially covered in part of a garden hose so that it would not scratch the base of our toilet bowl, which I appreciate. He cleared the pipe so that it flushed fine. Our only concern was that his bill showed $20 "equipment charge", which I can't imagine what that would be-since he just used a snake and part of a garden hose, both of which had been used before and I'm sure would be used again. We did not question him about it though and just paid it. The next day he came back with a helper and uninstalled/removed one of two water heaters we had and repiped the remaining one to be the sole source of our hot water. In moving the old water heater they accidentally knocked several holes in the drywall in our garage. Rather than having them repair the holes we negotiated with them to repair our leaky kitchen faucet (replace the cartridge). The verbal estimate he gave us for removal and disposal of the old water heater and repiping was, I really thought, $150-$175, but I did not get it in writing so I can't swear to it. Also, the original estimate for that did not include changing the T&P drain to 3/4". With the estimate he had said that if he had to change the T&P drain it would be more but didn't say how much--maybe that's why it was $100 more.

We noticed on Sunday afternoon that our hot water heater was leaking. We decided to look on Angie's list for a plumber. We called Jason around 6pm and described our situation. He said that he thought we needed a new hot water heater. Plus the fact that we have had it for 13 years was another factor in determining that we needed a new one. He scheduled to come out on Monday to install a new one. He was planning on coming out on Monday but I had some questions regarding the heater itself. Due to the fact that he had to speak with the sales representative about my questions, that delayed the install one day. This was not Jason's fault at all. I just wanted some more information before deciding that I wanted this particular hot water heater. Jason came out on Tuesday and installed the hot water heater. He tested the water pressure and saw where it was not working right so he also installed a new pressure valve. It only took him 1 hour to do all of this. They were very professional and cleaned up afterwards. The other thing that is great about Chapman Plumbing is that they are on call 24 hour a day and do not charge extra for nights or weekends. He told me that if I had any questions not to hesitate to call him.

For starters I had to call on a weekend. We thought we had a water heater leak. Jason was very accessible and able to talk me through some things over the phone. It turned out that we had an air conditioner leak instead and we were able to control the leak so I told them to just come out Monday morning at 8. They were there at 7:55 which was very helpful. They were professional and friendly. We went ahead and asked them to replace the hot water heater because ours was way past its prime. They quickly got to work. There were a few other minor things that I had them take a look at while they were there and they were able to easily identify the issues and resolve them quickly. They cleared our air conditioner drainage line (which was causing our water leak), and fixed two water pressure issues in the bathroom. They identified things that would be helpful to do in the future, but were not pushy at all about trying to get us to do more than we needed at the moment. Because they are on the list of contractors with Alagasco they also walked us through applying for a rebate which was really helpful as well. They were cleaned up and out of the house in about an hour and a half. The entire process was smooth and not stressful at all. I will not hesitate to call them in the future or recommend them to others.

It went perfectly. Even though I have never used Jason, I recommended him to my mom based on Angie's list. He had the part / tools on his truck. He fixed it quickly and with a cheerful attitude. Then, he offered to come back later to check out some non-emergency issues.

Just moved to Birmingham and found Jason on Angies List. We wanted to replace 2 shower curtains with 2 clear glass tub enclosures, one a standard fiberglass tub and the other a travertine tiled tub (difficult so as not to crack any tiles). So found Jason and were immediately impressed with his knowledge, flexibility and responsiveness. And our first impression proved correct as we were extremely satisfied with the end product. The glass shower enclosures over the tubs look great and we have now found our plumber for all of our needs. I highly recommend Jason and Chapman plumbing.
