Auxiliary Power Systems

APS is wonderful. Ralph quoted the job exceptionally well .. knew his stuff and made sure we got what we needed. Installers were professional and competent. The company persisted through the worst treatment I have ever seen given to a company by the most unethical building inspectors I have ever experienced and delivered a quality product. They lost money on this job, I guarantee, but they were always professional and devoted to making things work. Highly recommend APS if you are looking for a Generac back-up generator.

I was very impressed with everyone at Auxiliary Power Systems. Ralph Rooker was punctual and professional when he met with me to estimate the size of the house. He was very detailed when inquiring as to what items I would need powered should the electricity go out. Based on his information, we decided to get the 14,000 KW unit. We set up the install date and the two gentlemen that came were punctual and professional as well. They arrived shortly after 8 a.m. and were finished at 4:00 that afternoon. Initially, the install was somewhat noisy with the need to drill through concrete blocks but they did it quickly. Within weeks of having it installed, we had a snow storm that knocked out the power for over four hours. We had every luxury during the outage. This unit has a weekly test run to charge the battery and make sure all is working well which makes me more secure in knowing it will work when needed. My husband said this was one of the best purchases we have ever made to improve the value of our home. Should we ever move, we will definitely install another unit because the peace of mind is priceless.

The salesman, Danny, was patient and educated us on auxiliary power systems. He then allowed us time to decide which generator would be best for us without being pushy. We decided on a generator and made arrangements for the install; the install crew was at the house as scheduled and they did a good job overall. One incident we experienced was a younger worker installing a support and an exhaust extension shortly after the main install, and we weren't totally pleased with his work - We voiced our complaints to the company and another, more experienced worker drove the 100 mile round trip distance and totally reworked the area of concern and corrected the problem to our satisfaction. The generator is programed to start automatically when we have a power failure, and recently when we experienced a failure it worked well. It is also programed to test run (cycle) every Saturday morning and that has also worked well. We have an annual maintenance plan and will report on the company's level of service in that area during the summer, but we do not expect any problems based on the company's service so far.

The generator stopped working. I called the company who installed the system. I spoke with who I assume is the service manager, he said that he was on the way out of town but that it sounded like the controller board. He took my name, number, and generator information and told me that he would have someone call me back with an estimate on parts/labor. Nobody called for two weeks. Two weeks later on a Friday afternoon, I called back again and the service manager was in the area so he came out to my house himself to look at the system. He stated that he was disappointed in the people who were working for him since he had left instructions for them to call. Unfortunately, he was unable to identify the issue with the generator at the time of the visit and said that he would be back on Monday. Well he did not show up or call Monday, then the Tornado's hit Alabama Thursday so I assumed it would be a while before I heard from them (I had power so I wasn't going to complain). I received a call from their dispatch about two weeks after the storms hit saying that they were way behind and would not be able to make it for a while, but that I was still on the list. About three weeks after that I received a call asking if someone had been out to service my generator, I said no. They had the service manager call me. The service manager once again seemed surprised that the people he had left instructions with had failed to attend to my account. He arranged a 4:00pm service call for the next Tuesday. During the negotiation of the time I made it clear that I would have to take off from work early to make the 4:00pm time. After not hearing from them by 5:30 on Tuesday I called the answering service to find out where they were. I was told that it would be at least another hour before they could leave the job they were on. I politely told them that they seemed to be very busy, and that I would take my business to a service that could either keep appointments or at least call to let me know when they were running late.
