Description of Work: I HAD RELATIVES COMING IN TOWN ON SHORT NOTICE, I CALLED STEAM KING BECAUSE I HAD RECD COUPONS IN THE MAIL FOR CARPET CLEANING. I CALLED APPROX 2 DAYS PRIOR TO NEEDING THE SERVICE. THE OWNER/MANAGER CORY ANSWERED MY CALL, AND PROMPTLY SCHEDULED MY VISIT AS ASKED. WE DISCUSSED THE COST, THE COUPON SAID 5 ROOMS FOR 39.90, ( I HAVE 4 ROOMS, ONE IS VERY LARGE) I ALSO HAVE 12 STAIRS THAT NEEDED CLEANING ( HE QUOTED ME 2.00 A STEP FLAT RATE) HE DID MENTION ANOTHER CHARGE IF I NEEDED PRE TREATING, HE DIDNT EXPLAIN FULLY THAT THERE WOULD DEFINATELY BE A CHARGE FOR PRE TREATING AND IT GETS PRETTY EXPENSIVE. I HAD USED OTHER COMPANIES IN THE PAST ( THAT HAVE OFFERED GROUPONS/ COUPONS/ GOOD DEALS) IN FACT THAT LAST COMPANY I USED CHARGED ME $89 FOR EVERYTHING ( STAIRS, ALL ROOMS/ PRETREAT). SO I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING A GOOD DEAL. I CALLED THE OF SERVICE AND HAD TO CHANGE THE TIME, WHICH THEY WERE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE AS WELL. THE TECHNICIAN CAME AND WENT OVER CHARGES, 5 ROOMS FOR $39.90 ( AS EXPECTED) AND 12 STAIRS FOR $30 ( CHARGES FOR LANDING TOO:) OKAY, THEN MY PRETREATMENT CHARGES WERE AN ADDITIONAL $35, WHICH I AM TOLD IS BASICALLY NOTHING. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT IT CAN RUN AS HIGH AS $125 FOR THOSE CHARGES, NEEDLESS TO SAY, THAT OFF SET THE GREAT DEAL THAT I THOUGHT I WOULD BE GETTING, I ENDED UP PAYING $115 FOR THE CLEANING. THE QUALITY OF THE WORK WAS FAIR, NOT SURE IF IT WAS ANY BETTER THAN ANOTHER COMPANY. MY EXPERIENCE WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT EXCEPT THAT TACKED ON EXTRA $35 FOR PRETREATING. ALSO THERE WAS A PET STAIN THAT I HAD ASKED TO BE TREATED AND IT WAS NOT. OVERALL, I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

Description of Work: I hired Steam King to clean the carpets for one bedroom.

Description of Work: STEAM KING corrected the "mess" that was made by a nationally known carpert cleaning company that I had engaged a year before.My carpet had been "serviced" I refuse to use the word "clean", a year ago by a nationally known company. Due to poor technique on the part of the ONE technician that was sent,my carpet was ruined. The carpet remained wet for days, soap residue was left in the carpet, and it looked worse after the cleaning than before service. Oh, and the truck left a huge oil stain on my driveway. I contacted STEAM KING as a last effort to save my carpet. The TWO technicians were wonderful, and worked very hard to clean the carpert. My carpet looks GREAT!!! By the way, all of this took place during a horrific thunder and lightening storm. Lightening hit about a block away, rattling the entire house , just as the technicians were packing up the equipment. Still, they pressed on.I just can't say enough good about STEAM KING in Birmingham, Alabama.
