When my home burned on 05/19/2010, I was referred to Premier Reconstruction and Remodeling (PRR) and did all the research I could. The PRR rep, Jerry Sulzby, seemed genuine and told me of all they were going to do for us. One if the tallest tales, was a verbal promise to get us into our new home by Christmas, 2010. Being finished with rebuilding in time for Christmas was the condition that our agreement was based on. Apparently, there was never any intention to meet that requirement. There were constant excuses and stalling tactics. In December, PRR stopped work on the house because they said they needed more money although owner Gary Thompson told me they still had my money. PRR’s contract stipulated to the payments from the insurance company to be in thirds but they kept demanding extra money in order to keep working. They swindled me out of an additional $5200 of my personal cash and $31500 that was supposed to go to the mortgage company. The mortgage Co. did 3 inspections showing only about 30% completion. The mortgage co requires 50% completion to release more money to the builder. However, Premiere already had more than $130,000, which was about 50% of the total rebuilding cost. Premier notified me that they were not going to do any more on the house until they got more money. I told them there was no more money unavailable until they got to 50% completion. They notified me they were no longer working on my house at the end of December, and then sent 3 sub contractors to work on my house, but did not pay them, leaving me responsible for paying them with money that had already been paid to PRR. In addition, I have received a notice from another sub contractor who is putting a lien on my property for $13000 that Premiere has not paid them for hauling off the dumpsters when the burned house was taken down. I had other contractors inspect our house and they say PRR did about $70,000 worth of work (but have been paid about $130,000) and much of what they have done has to be re-done to meet county code requirements. Some sub contractors who did the work on our house were not paid. The bottom line is, I am out about $80000. We could not proceed with the rebuilding of our home because there was no money available. The Bank holding our insurance money refused to release more money until the house was 50% complete (Wells Fargo) and they were absolutely inflexible and rude even though our money had been stolen by PRR. My Insurance company, Travelers, was no help at all. They reminded me that I have to move from our rental in May. I can produce proof of all the money paid to Premiere. I have pictures to prove the inferior work done by PRR including a total failure to build a proper drainage system to keep the house from flooding whenever it rained and also to attach the roof. Owner of PRR, Gary Thompson made several pretenses of trying to patch things up and resume building our home, but never made any efforts at all to do any more work on the house. Project manager, Rodney Bates seemed to be oblivious of anything I ever said to him and in my opinion was under the influence of something nearly every time we met. Jerry Sulzby is the front man for this bunch, and seems very nice, but I advise against it. Beware, I know of 3 others with similar experiences similar to mine at this time, plus there are at least 3 lawsuits against PRR for similar actions. Bottom line is, in my experience, they promise, take your money and don't deliver. They stall, delay, make excuses and want more money. I could go on for a long time about PRR;s crooked dealings. Since I submitted this , PRR has posted a rebuttal on "Ripoff Report" that they were cleared of all wrongdoing. This is an outright lie. They refused to go to arbitration and were not cleared by the Al Licensure board or anyone else. The licensure board felt that although their work was faulty and they had quit the job owing us money, that was not enough to pull their licenses. Check out ripoffreport.com and see what they have been up to. I also included lawsuits against them at this time for the same type stuff.
Description of Work: PRR suckered us with slick sales techniques and false promises. They swindled us out of our house money. Then, they simply quit. They mumbled about building our home, but left us with no money. They seem sincere on the surface, but are very well practiced at cheating people.
