We engaged Ricky Howze (owner Paradise Landscaping) to do this project. It went relatively well in the beginning (we weren't in a hurry and delays didn't matter so much). The trouble we have is: 1) The deck that his contractor (Chris King) built is still not corrected (there is a gap between the house and the deck that needs to be narrowed). Not only this, he initially used the wrong nails which immediately began to discolor and protrude (not to mention lumber not quite long enough to meet the edge of the platform). The nails were removed and replaced, however the rest is still in need of correcting. 2) Many dead plants which had a 1 year warranty on them have yet to be replaced. 3) Specific plants we requested have never been installed. 4) The concrete stairs that were poured were uneven (I don't mean slightly either). Though this was not at all our fault, we agreed to pay for 1/2 materials to install slate tiles to make the stairs appear the same size throughout. Let's hope this holds. We have contacted Ricky too many times to count. Typically, he doesn't answer the phone. When (on very few occasions) he does, he makes promises that he doesn't keep. In fact, the last time I called him, I simply wanted to know the type of sprinkler head they installed so that I could buy a replacement head and make the repair ourselves. He promised to come over the next morning. He never showed and never returned my calls (oh, and didn't tell me the type of head that he had used). He said that he would come and replace the dead plants as well, which hasn't happened (this conversation was 2 months ago). I have called his wife, Kathy (who works with Ricky), and left messages for her as well. My goal was to find out which nursery they used and call them myself to get the plants replaced. She has never returned my call either. At first impression, I would have never guessed that Ricky would not follow through with commitments and be so unethical. I am greatly disappointed with the events of this engagement.
Description of Work: Large landscaping project to include land grading, 2 retaining walls, patio poured, concrete stairs installed, irrigation system, sod, plants and installation.
