Customer telephoned and reached proprietor via mobile phone while he was on another service call; proprietor arranged to meet at customer's house the next morning. Proprietor arrived early for first appointment after giving notice by telephone and, with employee, examined site of leakage problem; proprietor informed customer that repairs would best be undertaken after allowing affected tub area under customer's house to dry for several days. Proprietor remembered to telephone several days later and arranged second meeting to effect repairs. Although proprietor and employee arrived a few minutes late for second service call, they had informed customer by telephone of delay caused by problem at previous worksite. Plumbing problem underneath customer's home was assessed and parts were obtained within 90 minutes of arrival, and repair work was completed within three hours. Proprietor and employee were nothing less than professional and strove to make a complete repair of conditions they found in older home, and their price was quite affordable.

I first contacted Joe Ritter about my problem maybe a month before the actual work. Joe came by the house and we talked about what had transpired in the past and he asked relevant questions about what, where and when as well as I could recall. But basically, the sewer line was stopping up and every 12+ months or so, I would have to call Roto-Rooter..usually at the most inconvenient time like on a weekend...to come out and put their little snake in the cleanout plug and get the drain flowing again. It was messy dealing with the water especially the time it backed up into the laundry room as the clothes washer emptied. I am also planning on replacing my lawn after almost 28 years, so I wanted to fix the problem BEFORE I did the lawn so I wouldn't have to dig up my expensive lawn redo to fix the problem. After some weather delays(none of them Joe's fault) we finally were able to get some decent respite from the daily rains last Saturday and Joe and his helpers began digging at what seemed the most logical spot based on where the utilites were indicated(Joe had called the utility locating folks sometime before Saturday) and the cleanout plug was located in the yard. Their speculation proved to be almost perfect as they found the line from the house where it turned to go deeper and meet the city's line. Joe had gone down to the city department that deals with these things and determined that the city line was at least 9 feet deep. They continued to dig, having to move the backhoe in order to reach as deep as they could. The finally located the connection to the city and it was exactly as Joe had predicted. For whatever reason, the and quot;doughnutand quot; that they used in 1985 to connect my drain line to that of the city had split and allowed roots to get into the line and finally to stop it up. After cleaning up the hole sufficiently to allow the placement of new pipe, they finally reconnected my line to the city using a thick. hard but flexible boot with hose clamps on both ends to seal it permanently. They then had me turn on all the water in the house to test the line before covering it up. It worked flawlessly. They then covered the hole and pushed as much dirt as possible on top so that hopefully the rain will settle the majority of it back into the original hole. I actually told them not to worry about it as I planned to redo the yard. The eventual cost was greater than the original estimate but Joe had told me that when he found the city line was so much deeper than he thought. He did not hide that fact from me and I could have opted out before he started the work. I kept in mind that it was hard work...on a weekend...very, very high humidity...muddy, nasty work...he had two helpers...they had to go so much deeper than originally thought and they even fixed a water leak that was my responsibility versus the city's at the water meter. That alone would have added hundreds at any other vendor's prices. It sounds easy when you say dig a hole, patch a pipe and cover it up...but no way on earth I could do what they did. Don't even think about it. He and his crew are professionals and know what they are doing. He even called back after a few days to make sure things were working properly and the water leak remained fixed. Would I use Joe again?...in a heartbeat. He is flexible, hard working and a man of his word...you can count on it.

On 28 May 2013 I noticed a hissing sound from under my kitchen sink. I opened the doors and saw water spewing from under my sink. I tried to cut the water off under the sink but nothing happened. Since I've always used Ritter's for my plumbing, I called Mr. Ritter well after hours (7:30 p.m.) and told him my situation. He came over and cut the water off for me and said he'd be back the following day to determine what the problem was and fix it. The following day, he came over and determined my water heater was turned too high and that had melted the plastic nut on the line from the faucet to the water supply line. He turned the temperature on my water heater down and replaced the old hose. I've used Ritter's since the 80's and have never thought to use anyone else for my plumbing repairs. Professional, dependable, reliable, economical, and honest.

The job was started and finished in the time frame I was quoted. The fact that he decided the needed hardware and picked it up for me made it much easier.
