GARDNER CARPET & DECORATING

Description of Work: I had the flooring in 90% of my house completely replaced (the two bathrooms and entryway are ceramic tile and didn't require replacing). I had two types of vinyl tile in the front of the house and carpet in the back (bedrooms). The front room (don't know what else to call it) and the family room were done in a wood-like vinyl tile that is like a "floating floor". The laundry/kitchen/dining area was done in a vinyl that looks like ceramic tile but is much easier on the feet (and dishes).

Description of Work: Removed old carpet & pad from 2 rooms. Cleaned flooring & replaced carpet tack strips where needed. Laid new pad & carpet & then vacummed new carpet. Hauled away all old materials.

Description of Work: On 7 May 2009 my home was severely damaged by fire. The restoration required totally gutting the interior and rebuilding from the joist and studs. i selected the general contractor, but was informed by the insurance company I had to use one of the companies they had listed to do the flooring and bathroom tile. One of the choices was Gardner Carpet. The company I preferred was not on the list, so I opted for Gardner Carpets. BIG MISTAKE! Briefly, Gardner Carpet and its employees are incompetent, unprofessional, dishonest, and unprincipled. The project manager’s oversight was one of benign neglect with little involvement. On several occasions the workers Gardner Flooring has sent to the house put in about 2 to 3 hours of work and leave for the day. Most times the workers would leave work in progress half done and obviously not at a natural work break point. After they started an installation project, they failed to complete it and would not return for weeks. Often Gardner installers had to repeat projects because they were not done satisfactorily initially. They had to be reminded several times of the contracted specifications for the project. After over a year of trying to get the quality of service I expected, They were never on schedule, which caused a delay for the general contractor. The general contractor estimated I would be back in my home by Christmas 2009. It was not until September 2010 I was able to move back in. All the delay was the result of Gardner Carpet's incompetence. there are numerous examples I could give regarding their lack of quality to include scratched and buckling hardwood floors, However, the most egregious lack in workmanship is allowing grout from the tile to go down the bath tub drain and thereby clogging it up. As of August 2011, none of the installation discrepancies have been corrected. Moreover, Gardner has refused to return phone calls from myself or the insurance company.
