With the microwave and cabinets being brand new the has to drill halls in upper cabinets to mount as well as the back wall. They also installed the outlet. They were on time (early actually) processional and efficient. Very pleased with the experience from office staff and scheduling to the men who came to the house.
Description of Work: They installed a brand new over range microwave.

I called So Al Electric. Initially I was told it would be tomorrow before they could come. Later they called back. The gentleman was concerned that I could be without AC and refrigerator that long and was sending someone to assess the situation. It was determined that the repairs could be made that afternoon. When the serviceman was finished he called Al Power to have them return to reconnect the line. So Al Electric went out of their way to see that I had power that day. It was also less expensive than the original estimate.
Description of Work: A limb fell and pulled the power line down including pulling my meter off the house. Al Power came out and did the work they could and advised that an electrician was needed to rebuild part of the system before they could reconnect the power.

After our brand new dryer suddenly stopped working we were forced to go to a Laundromat for the first time in several years. My home warrenty company said the earliest they could get a service provider in our area to come out would be in a week. I had my wife call South Alabama electric around noon and they had someone out and the faulty outlet fixed by 3.

Sent them (through Angie's List) an e-mail early in the morning and received a reply within minutes. Had a verbal estimate within 20 minutes and Electricians on-site within 90 minutes. Job was completed within 2 hours from my first e-mail. Alvin and his apprentice were polite, friendly and efficient. The took all the trash with them and, left their work area clean.

They were on-sight approx. 3 hrs after my telephone call. They full explained their pricing up front. They were prompt, friendly, professional and didn't mind me watching to learn. They explained everything they were doing so I would understand and learn a few things. Cost was fair. I recommend and will call them again.

For the last year our stove would cut off when it reached 250 degrees, it would trip the circuit breaker outside. We had other companies look into the issue and they replaced components within the stove/oven. South Alabama Electric came out the same day as requested and noticed that the breaker was a 40 AMP and it should have been a 50 AMP, so they replaced the breaker and the over/stove worked fine. They stayed to make sure everything was working and they were at my location less than an hour. Prompt, proffesional, friendly, great to work with!

The team was excellent! They knew what they were doing, and had many years of experience. They actually taught as they repaired. They even tried to get the most appropriate color for the light switch they repaired. Every detail covered. They were very friendly and did not waste one moment! I really liked them and plan to use them in the future I also noticed their name in my vet office! They are just wonderful and I will recommend them to all of my friends.

47 minutes to handle everything. To save money, he installed the fan/light control in the existing outlet. And sent me out to purchase a switchplate that would accommodate the new hardware. The shock came two weeks later when the bill for $230 arrived. 2.5 hours of work were billed. And 10.00 for material. I called and spoke with Mr. Wilson. Turns out there is an automatic trip cost. According to him, his people left the shop at 0700 and returned at 0900 so that's what I had to pay for 'since they travel all over the country and everyone pays the same way.' Oh. And the 10.00 materials fee was a charge for gas for the vehicle to get to Fairhope. Oh. Apparently someone should have mentioned this when they set up the appointment. It certainly has nothing about paying for gas or travel time to/from the shop listed on any of the South Alabama Electric website pages. And the tech had to return because he failed to get the spacing correct and the switchplate wouldn't fit until he corrected it. The original response was 'Can't you do it yourself? It's simple.' If I thought working with electricity was simple, I wouldn't have called you guys. I supplied all materials, including a separate switchplate that wasn't used. The tech was also surprised because with the can light conversion kit I provided; there was no need for him to go into the attic for the install. As I said. 47 minutes of work. Billed as 150. This was a tough review to write because I trust this company's work. But this was an expensive and unpleasant surprise that still doesn't make sense. I guess I need to look for a taxi driver who's also a journeyman electrician. At least then I'll understand about paying for gas and travel time.
Description of Work: Installed (provided) pendant light over kitchen sink using (provided) can light conversion kit and hardware. Installed universal fan/light remote: on fan body and added control switch to existing 3 gang outlet using customer provided materials.

The provider came right away; we were lucky because he was already in the neighborhood. Two men came, asked about the problem and went right to work. They replaced the GFI and there was still a problem so they checked all of the outdoor receptacle until they found the one that was wet. They replaced that and everything worked properly. Both workers were polite, professional and efficient.
