Sears PartsDirect

The door to the Kenmore dishwasher was leaking. I called Sears appliance service to find out if they could come out and fix it and the man (Will) on the phone said the charge would be $109. I knew from experience that the tech would not have the parts on his truck and would have to make a second trip so I asked what the charge for the second trip would be. Will said there was no charge for the second trip to install the parts. Immediately that seemed to good to be true so I asked him again to be sure that he was correct and there would be no additional charge for the second trip to install the repair parts. I wrote in my notes that he said again that it would be part of the original $109. I went ahead and scheduled the repair. The tech got there when he said he would (in an 8am-12 time slot) but when it came to the repair he said his second trip to install the new door gasket would be $159. He said this was normal procedure and of course all the work he does has to be paid for, blah blah blah. I sent him home. My complain is not that the price was too high or the repair bad. My problem is that Sears lied to me in order to get me on the hook so that when the repairman get there and I had already invested $109, I would feel I had no choice but to go ahead with the rest. Once again, if it sounds too good to be true, it isn't.
