Jim McDonough Home Inspections

The home inspector missed a lot of items that were supposed to be brought up in the inspection report. He charged double what we would normally pay which I honestly don't mind as long as its worth it. I honestly would not recommend him to anyone. He has costed us thousands of dollars that he could've easily brought to our attention.

Jim was very thorough, professional and efficient. He went over his report and then emailed it later so that I had a hard copy. He was a pleasure to work with.

Do not use McDonough for home inspections. The only problems he found in the house we bought was a broken sidewalk and the fridge did not work. So we thought it was a great house! I bought it and moved in, found SOO many problems in the first months, and I am not an inspector. There are places in the sub floor that are rotting, weak spots in the bathroom and kitchen, so Jim obviously did not crawl in the crawl space. I did, and they are rotting. They dryer vent just went straight under the house, which is a huge mold and fire hazard. Several broken window panes. Water damage all inside the closet near the bathroom. Water pipes leaking. Broken clean outs that cost us $1,000 to replace. I think he just wandered around the house taking pictures and did not actually check for problems like we hired him to do. You will be glad you chose another inspector.

Jim was very responsive and professional. He found several issues with the home and was very thorough in his inspection. He called me the same day of the inspection to review the results of the report and answered all my questions. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality home inspection at an affordable price.

He walked off the job of his own accord since he was in charge and not me the one paying my hard earned money. He was there 10 min. It is his business so I guess he can work for whomever he wants to, but when I pay it will be done my way or the highway and the highway was what he chose.

Mr. McDonough was very knowledgeable. I was not able to meet with him, but he was able to do the inspection anyway. He was very thorough. I like the fact that he took pictures and explained what he found and gave his recommendations. I would hire him again and recommend him to others.
