Hansen Heating and Cooling

I’ve never been more disappointed in my life. I feel like we have a been ripped off. We have had nothing but problems with our AC every since it was installed in January. They have been out here six or seven times and replaced a part two or three times, and saying they make adjustments. But our electric bill has gone up over $100 since last year. Our AC never shuts off. It is 80° in our house right now and the thermostat is set on 72°. We are ready for them to come take this unit out. Give us our money back and we will get a unit from someone else. This is ridiculous. I would not use Hanson heating and air again ever. I added pictures of our unit and our thermostat that is time stamped to show what it was said on and what it actually in the house. This is after they have been here six times.

Not well as they tried to sell a new compressor installation for $4800 when second opinion from a smaller AC firm that does not advertise only charged $200 to repair compacitor and repair wiring left in array by Hansen repair person. Repairman was unprofessional and incompetent. Do not call this firm as they are looking to seek new instead of repairing existing units which mine was still under warranty.

The service person was very professional. In and out in under 25 minutes on Saturday night around 7pm. And charged $270.

They would come on Thursday to checked your lighting. They were good company. They were professional.

I called them first thing in the morning. They responded around 1:00 p.m. the service call was $25. Once they get there, while I'm at work, they tell my girlfriend that the voltage capacitor has failed. 5 minutes of research and I find the part for $37 at the local parts supply store. And it's two 8 mm bolts and four quick connect wires that need to be swapped for the repair. They tell her it's going to be over $450, so I called their office to ask how their pricing works and they said they'd get back to me. Instead they go in and tell my girlfriend that they're adjusting the price down to $200 without notifying me about anything. Then they continuously try to upsell her on things with the whole AC system being fairly new already. Then they tell her it's going to be like $4,000 to remove clean and reinstall the evaporator. I used the $9 bottle of simple Green and a vacuum with a brush attachment with 30 minutes of my own time and it looks brand new. They try to take advantage of people on pricing as fast as they can open their mouths.

This company advertises (everywhere, over and over) that they provide 24 hour service. We needed them to come out on a Wednesday night and called at 10:30 p.m. after arriving home from a trip and finding that our air conditioner wasn't working. I called them and left messages twice, on the Mobile line and the Baldwin County line, emailed them through the link on their website, Facebook messaged them and tried texting the number. I explained the situation and asked for a callback. Even the next day, nothing! Zip. Nada. Crickets. I would never fault a company for not providing 24-hour service but if you're going to say you provide it, then provide it. Don't just say you provide it because your competitors do it (they actually do) or as a marketing tactic. We wasted an hour and a half waiting to hear from them because we actually believed what they said in their advertising. Also, anyone can have an off night, an emergency, whatever. I am a reasonable person who would surely understand that, but if a company knows that they have a customer who has tried to reach them and they just don't respond, even the next day, that is extremely unprofessional.

During the rough-in installation phase, the installation crew never showed on the agreed upon date & time. The scheduler never called to notify me of the delay and on each occasion, I had to call to see where the crew was. The scheduler could rattle off excuse after excuse blaming other people in their office but never accepted any responsibility herself. Once the rough-in installation had finally been performed, their billing department sends me an invoice for the total cost of the system before the final installation was ever performed. I called their office on a Wednesday morning and received verbal confirmation that the final install team would arrive first thing Friday morning. Just as was the case with the initial install, the crew never showed up. When I called the scheduler to ask where the crew was, she, once again, blamed the problem on someone else and said that she wasn't informed of the install until late Thursday. The conversation escalated and she informed me that their manager would call me back to discuss. When he called, he proceeded to bless me out and said that I wasn't going to tell the scheduler when they would install the system. He said that they were going to put us off even further now. He never bothered to let me tell my side of the story and then he hung up on me. I called him back immediately and he hung up on me a second time. It's now Wednesday of the following week and nobody's even called me to try to resolve the issue. I'm a contractor and I can say with absolute certainty that Hansen Heating & Air is the worst experience I've had with all of my subcontractors. I will never use again.

I refused to ok repair till I took a look. I removed capacitor and terminal took to B & B Appl Pt.s where I had capacitor and terminal checked - I was told they were both good ! not the 1 st time I had trouble w/ Hansen and had quit using them - last yr they hooked up a fan motor on a different rental prop. backwards ! I wouldn't have known except a vinyl siding contr doing a repair for me told me. I called they came out and fixed it but no apology nothing (and I do believe it cost me more when unit sucking air down thru unit rather than blowing it up and out !)

I do not recommend this company to anyone. They came out for a service call, the tech was polite and professional and said everything was working fine, only the coil needed to be cleaned. He recommended that we do it (save $185 for 20min job) and showed us how to clean the coil. We did exactly what he said and when we turned the breakers back on (he turned them off, I assume for precaution) the unit wouldn’t come on. We called them back and set up another appointment for the following morning. After no show by noon, we called and were assured the tech would be coming soon. The tech then called and said he hadn’t forgotten us, but had a few more stops and would be here. At 5:00 and still nothing, we called Hansen’s office again but were then told the “boss” cancelled, without even notifying us. We waited all day, we only found out it had been cancelled when we called to see where they were at the end of the day. They referred us to “the boss”, who begins by rudely telling us that we must have torn up our A/C unit (impossible while cleaning the coils as directed, nowhere near any wires or components or anything. Like tearing up your car engine by changing a flat tire or air filter!), then he continues to curse and say we must have done something to the unit and refused to send anyone back out. He called with an attitude and wouldn’t even talk rationally to us, even though we stated we didn’t think it was anything intentional, just that the tech possibly forgot to reconnect a wire or accidentally disconnected a wire, etc. while checking everything). Don’t waste your money with this company! The $25 appears to simply get them there hoping they will find an issue, allowing them to make money. He said he was going to refund the $25 service charge, like that would make up for wasting our entire day and breaking our air conditioning! Never sued anyone before, nor left negative feedback/review, but it’s a matter of principle at this point. Be VERY wary. The “Boss” sets the tone for the company, and he leads by terribly poor example.

Installation was done promptly and all work was quite satisfactory. 3 Years later I find that they, Hansen, did not register the installation with Bryant. Consequently, there was a five year loss of parts warranty.

Hansen's technician named Austin called me around 330pm and told me he was on his way to my home. He pulled up in a clean and easily identifiable company vehicle. When I showed him the unit I wanted replaced he immediately went from sales mode to troubleshoot mode. I told him what the guy from Action said and he tested my unit and found the leak. He told me he could fix it and Hansen would guarantee the work. To solder the leak closed, vacuum the system, and recharge it, he charged me $750. I felt that was high but cheaper than $2000. Austin received at least 3 calls from other customers while he was at my home but he did not get in a rush. He was thorough and meticulous in making sure the job was done right. I've dealt with Hansen on a previous occasion and I wasn't impressed with technicians work due to me having to go back up in the attic to reattach the duct he supposedly fixed. Austin is a star player on the Hansen team and redeemed their reputation in my eyes. He was courteous and professional and obviously knew what he was doing. I hope they recognize Austin for doing an awesome job.

Very fast in getting back with us and prompt at what time they would be there. Technician was very through and took pictures of before and after repairs. Technician was very polite and knowledgeable. We use Hansen for all of our HVAC services and would recommend them.

Everyone I dealt with was polite and friendly plus they did great work quickly. It was a bonus that it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be.

Fixed quickly for not a lot of money

We knew they were going to go out because Hanson does our annual inspections and whatever we need, I think we have given them a great rating before just on their service. They had to put 4 more in one unit and 5 in the other. And so they couldn't fix it to keep it from leaking. The units were 14 years old. The upstairs unit went completely out so we said come on. They were a little better in price than the other folks we got estimates from. They do an excellent job. We've been using them since we bought our house here 4 years ago. Every time we have ever dealt with them they have been excellent. They had to get up in the attic and replace the 2 units plus the ones on the outside here. They had people coming and going. I don't know many workers they had here but they had 3 or 4 trucks here.

The tech came out and found that my system was overcharged with Freon and one of my vents wasn't connected and was blowing cold air into the attic. I had another company out last year whom overcharged the system with coolant and told me my unit's coil would need replacing at a cost of $500+ . Hansen's tech saved me from spending unessecery money and fixed the problem. They responded quickly to my initial inquiry via the Angie's list app and had a tech out the next morning.

OUTSTANDING!! I would give an A++ if I could. Top notch customer service and responsiveness. Only will recommend and charge you for what you need, no hidden fees or costs. Amazing quality of work. Chad is super easy to work with and a great boss with very happy employees. They didn't send me a bill for two weeks to make sure I liked everything! I'm very happy with Hansen Air and would highly recommend them. They also have a Plumbing company that I would use if I ever need plumbing services.

They have been here several times. They come once a year to check the heating and air conditioning. The first time they came, they went out of their way to get some stuffed fixed, we had no idea was wrong with our system. They left the area clean. One person came to complete the job and it took less than an hour. They were curteous, on time, very quick to make an appointment. They have the parts with them.

They do a great job with unit change outs. I have had issues with there duct work in the past but service work and change outs always go smooth. I think I have bought at least twenty units from them. They treated me right.

It was like an Air Handling Ninja army... they arrived on time with multiple technicians staged and staggered throughout the morning. They were knowledgeable and knew their stuff, and they left after an excellent cleanup... you could not even tell they were there. But it began before ghst, as Chad evaluated my existing system and my needs, and made great suggestions and answered all of my many OCD questions, both then and later via email. Heidi called the day before to endure we were still on for the install - essentially the level of detail and customer service was superb! Their price was also tight in the middle of the multiple estimates we received... even with the Trane upgrade.

This install of a new system was without a doubt the most professional, responsive, and smooth operation I have witnessed since my days in the US Marine Corps. All my questions were answered, as well as insightful information from Daryl. Daryl and Mason arrived on time as scheduled for the pre-op of the system, while two other professional techs arrived later with the equipment for install.(their names escapes me, sorry) Daryl kept me abreast of the progress during the removal and install procedure. The whole operation only took approx. 3 hrs to complete. From around 0830 to 1130. And that includes the pick up and clean up as well. All parties involved were courteous and friendly. Installed a new heat pump, inside circulator unit, and T-stat. Amazing work. A great example of how a team should operate and service customers. I definitely will recommend Hansens and would hire again in a heart beat. Thanks again Daryl and team for a job well done. Also I will add that among 4 estimates, Hansens was the more competitive with higher rated equipment and better labor warranty. So far I am very pleased with the new units.

I requested a service call on the afternoon of 10/6. A technician available the same day. He cleared the drain and added one pound of R22. On 10/7, the A/C stopped cooling again. I called Hansen and they sent someone out immediately. I also needed a fan motor. They replaced the part and did not charge for second service call. I was impressed and would definitely use them again.

Everything went great! All of their representatives were very professional. They were on time, performed their work, repaired the trim around our indoor unit (they had to remove it in order to fit the new unit), and cleaned up after themselves when they were finished. I am very happy with their service and would use them again!

I have been a customer with this company for at least 2 years, and had experienced great service. I have even recommended them to several others. However, on 8/22/16 after coming home at 8pm to find my A/C not cooling, I left a message. In the past, they have called back right away, but after not hearing back 30 minutes later, I placed another call to them and left another message. Thirty minutes later, I called a different company who called me back immediately. In the end, I ended up needing a new A/C unit, which was installed 2 days later. I am still waiting on a call back from Hansen.

Wonderful, he explained that we might have a larger issue with our air conditioner but to try the least expensive route first.
